The longlist for the BBC's Sound Of 2024 has been revealed.

The 10 nominees come from a wide range of genres and acts, from breakout pop stars like Caity Baser and Kenya Grace, to tastemaker-y DJ Peggy Gou and Afrobeats and amapiano acts Ayra Starr and Tyla.

As usual, the Sound Of longlist is voted for by an expert industry panelist body, predicting the 10 biggest acts to keep an eye on over the next 12 months.

Last year, girlband FLO were the winners of the BBC Sound of...2023, and are preparing to launch their major label debut album next year.

Also included are Irish singer-songwriter CMAT (read our chat with CMAT around the release of her debut album here), art-rockers The Last Dinner Party and soul-pop singer Olivia Dean.

Out of the 10 acts included, one - Kenya Grace - memorably reached Number 1 with her self-produced debut single Strangers, while both Peggy Gou and Tyla have also experienced Top 10 breakthroughs this year.

South African starlet Tyla's magnificent Water recently peaked at Number 4 and hasn't left the Top 10 for the last nine weeks (read more about this in out interview with Tyla) while Peggy Gou's (It Goes Like) Nanana, her first single under new label XL, peaked at Number 5

I love Peggy Gou but she's hardly a 'new' artist, been going for years. Good luck to her though! She's way ahead of the others on this list...
