BBC One's All Together Now starring Geri Horner renewed for a second series
Geri and The 100 will be back for another series after a successful first run.
All Together Now, the BBC's newest singing show starring Geri Horner, has been renewed for a second series.
The BBC have confirmed that the latest take on the TV talent show genre will be returning to screens due to its ratings success. All Together Now averaged 3.8 million viewers across its six episode season, becoming one of the BBC's most successful entertainment launches of the past year.
All Together Now features Geri aka Ginger Spice ask captain of The 100, a team of music industry experts and performers from across the UK. Budding performers then sing for The 100; the more that stand up and sing along with the contestant, the higher their score.
Michael Rice from Hartlepool was crowned the winner of the first series of All Together Now, taking home the grand prize of £50,000 after performing Beyoncé's Crazy in Love and Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah in the final.
Geri Horner says: “I loved making the first series, it was so fun, it really celebrated people, uniting all walks of life. It got the nation up on their feet and singing along on a Saturday night. With so many more incredible performers out there I can’t wait to get going on series two.”
James Fox, Managing Director of Remarkable Television, says: “Launching a brand new, home-grown format on a Saturday night is not for the faint hearted but we’re incredibly proud that the show really struck a chord with BBC One viewers. With Rob and Geri back at the helm, we can’t wait to unearth more brilliant acts brave enough to take on The 100 in series two.”
The news of All Together Now's return follows on from the show's first international deal being announced. The show will debut on the Seven Network in Australia, previously the home of The X Factor Australia, which was recently cancelled after eight seasons.
In Spice-related news, OfficialCharts.com recently announced that Little Mix's latest album Glory Days had overtaken Spice Girls' 1996 album Spice as the longest-reigning girl group album in the Top 40 ever.
