BBC announces brand new music show Pitch Battle starring Kelis & Gareth Malone
The BBC has announced a brand new, Saturday night, prime time music TV show that brings a never-before-seen concept to our screens.
Described as "Saturday night’s sassiest singing show", Pitch Battle is being aimed at fans of Glee and Pitch Perfect, with musical groups tussling for the limelight in battles of vocal prowess. Each week, two teams will tackle various challenges including riff offs, a soloists challenge and an a capella round. The series begins on Saturday, June 17 at 7:30pm on BBC One.
Pitch Battle will also have Deke Sharon on board, who was the musical director for Pitch Perfect, a huge inspiration behind the show's premise. Bake Off legend, Let It Shine presenter and Eurovision semi-finals commentator Mel Giedroyc will present.
Before Pitch Battle, Kelis' whole life was acapella, so she's kinda perfect for this.
There will of course also be a panel of judges for the six week series; two permanent faces and six special guests alternating week-to-week. Conductor and composer Gareth Malone and Milkshake singer Kelis are the two recurring stars, while Seal, Bebe Rexha, Joe Jonas, Will Young and Chaka Khan have been announced as some of the guest panellists taking part.
Kelis commented on her new gig: “It’s kind of nice when things come full circle. I started singing in the choir as a child so it’s always been something special to me. Now here I am 20 years later as a judge on Pitch Battle.”
Pitch Battle begins on June 17 on BBC One. Watch a teaser below:

Oh NO... Mel Giedroyc again... she is probably the most annoying person on TV :(

I think she is lovely, we are all entitled to our opinion.
