Bananarama's original lineup to reform for UK tour
Siobhan rejoins Keren and Sara to revive the classic lineup of the band.
We heard a rumour… and it's true! The three original members of British girl group Bananarama are reuniting for a UK tour.
Siobhan Fahey, who left the band in 1988 to pursue a new career as Shakespear's Sister, is to rejoin her bandmates Sara Dallin and Keren Woodward to perform their first ever live shows as this lineup.
“Keren and I have toured as a duo for years, but we never toured or played live with Siobhan,” explains Sara. “We’ve been talking about this idea for a while and now the moment has finally arrived it’s incredibly exciting! Lots of fans have often asked 'please just do one tour with Siobhan,' so now their wishes have come true.”
“We’ll be performing all the hits and some surprises too, I really can’t wait it’s gonna be an amazing party every night!" says Keren.
The 15-date tour kicks off in Glasgow on November 12 and will travel the UK to finish in Southend on December 2. Fan presale begins today, with tickets going on general release this Wednesday (26th).
Talking to the Guardian, the ladies revealed they would be going into the studio to record a single, at the very least, but there's no word on whether we can expect a full album.
Bananarama enjoyed 13 Top 40 hits in the 1980s before Siobhan decided to move on. She was replaced by Jacquie O'Sullivan and the band continued to enjoy success, before Keren and Sara carried as a duo from 1992.
While Bananarama never had a Number 1 in the UK, their cover of Shocking Blue's Venus was a US chart-topper. The closest they got here was Number 3, thanks to Robert de Niro's Waiting (1984) and Love in the First Degree (1988).
