Avicii and Nicky Romero look set to top the Official Singles Chart this Sunday with I Could Be The One, according to today’s Official Chart Update.

Avicii and Nicky Romero look set to score their first Official Singles Chart Number 1 this weekend with I Could Be The One.

Armed with a brilliant video following the story of a bored office worker who dramatically flees her mundane existence to throw herself into a series of amusing hedonistic adventures, I Could Be The One, featuring Dutch DJ Nicky Romero has a lead of nearly 15,000 copies on reigning chart toppers, Macklemore and Ryan LewisThrift Shop (Number 2).

Having previously scored two Top 5 hits in 2011 with Leona LewisCollide and Levels - the latter of which was later sampled by Flo Rida for his 2012 Number 1 hit Good Feeling - Swedish DJ Avicii could be on course for his highest charting single of his career this Sunday with I Could Be The One.

Rising star Gabrielle Aplin follows the success of her cover version of Frankie Goes To Hollywood’s The Power Of Love which topped the Official Singles Chart in December, with new track Please Don’t Say You Love Me (3). Disclosure and AlunaGeorge are down two places to Number 4 today with White Noise, while Rihanna’s Stay FT Mikky Ekko climbs three places to Number 5. Watch the new video for Stay here.

New entries

In addition to Avicii Vs Nicky Romero (Number 1) and Gabrielle Aplin (2), there are another six new entries on today’s Official Singles Chart Update.

Bruno Mars is new in at Number 14 today with When I Was Your Man – the second single to be culled from chart-topping album, Unorthodox Jukebox. While internet sensation Harlem Shake is new in at Number 22. See what all the fuss is about here.

Meanwhile, P!nk is on course to score her 25th UK Top 40 single with Just Give Me A Reason. The BRIT Award-winning star’s new track, which features guest vocals from Fun. frontman Nate Ruess, is at Number 25 today. Foals, who look set to debut at Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart this week with their third album Holy Fire, are two places behind her with My Number, fresh in at Number 27.

This week’s midweek new entries are completed by Drake’s Started From The Bottom (29) and Mirrors, Justin Timberlake’s second single from his upcoming new album, The 20/20 Experience, at 31.
