Ariana Grande teases big music comeback for 2024, working with Max Martin on new material
In the words of Ari herself; see you next year...
Get into position! Ariana Grande is hinting that new music is on the horizon, and coming in with the New Year.
Ari hasn't released any new material since 2020's lockdown album Positions, and it was initially thought that any new music from the pop star would be a few years off, given that she's spent the last two years filming the two-part live action adaption of musical Wicked, where she'll be starring as Glinda in two films set for release in 2024 and 2025.
But, as we know, the Into You hitmaker works quickly and, given the SAG-AFTRA actors strike pulled the last few weeks of Wicked filming to a halt earlier this year, it seems she's jumped back into the studio to make a brand-new album with some of her most high-profile collaborators.
In a series of Instagram posts and stories across the Christmas period, Ariana has confirmed that not only is she back in the studio, but a brand new album is just days away from being finished. Across a series of tags, we can also discern that she's worked with producers Max Martin and ILYA, songwriter Savan Kotecha and music video director Christian Breslauer on this mysterious new material.

Of course, for fans, it's great news that Ariana is re-teaming once more with Max and his Wolf Cousins cohort. They were some of her most reliable collaborators, popping up with credits across her breakthrough albums My Everything, Dangerous Woman, Sweetener and Thank U, Next.
While Positions was the first LP since Ari's first, Yours Truly, not to feature Max or his proteges on any songs, it seems that things are changing for her brand-new material.
Indeed, Max Martin and ILYA are responsible for no less than three of Ariana's UK Number 1 singles; her first Problem with Iggy Azalea (2014), Bang Bang with Jessie J and Nicki Minaj (2014) and Break Up With You're Girlfriend, I'm Bored (2019), while Wolf Cousins member Rami co-produced another chart-topper for Ari, Rain On Me with Lady Gaga (2020).
2024 is also shaping up to be a big year for Max Martin; since the last few years have seen him absent from the albums of some of his biggest modern-day muses - Ariana and Taylor Swift - this summer also brought the exciting news that Madonna is working with Max and his team for the first time ever on new music.
