Alexandra Burke says it’s “unreal” being back in the Top 10
Alexandra Burke spoke to officialcharts.com about her new single Elephant FT Erick Morillo.
The former X Factor winner, whose track debuted at Number 2 in yesterday’s (Wednesday, March 14) Official Update, said that it’s “unreal” being back in the Top 10 after taking eighteen months out to record her second album.
“I’ve been out of the game for a year and a half recording [my] second album and to come back and for [Elephant] to be at Number 2 at this stage is a really big achievement,” she said. “I’m really grateful to all of those who have supported me, but most of all my amazing fans who go so hard for me, it’s unreal!”
Alexandra, whose cover of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah is second only to Adele’s Someone Like You in the Top 20 biggest selling songs of the 21st Century by female artists, also revealed that she’s feeling incredibly nervous about performing Elephant live on The Official Chart Show with Reggie Yates on Radio 1 this Sunday.
“It’s very nerve racking, I’m very nervous full stop!,” she said. “But my mum always says to me ‘having nerves shows that you care’, so I guess I’ll worry the day that the nerves go away! Now? I want them to stay, right here in my heart.”
