Ady Suleiman hits the streets of Cape Town for Running Away music video - watch

The rising star plays it effortlessly cool in the clip for his debut single.

For an artist on the cusp of releasing their debut single, Ady Suleiman has already got himself a mighty reputation.

After being discovered by BBC Introducing, the 22-year-old Nottingham native has spent the last two years honing his sound - a blend of R&B, hip-hop and reggae - with a couple of well-received EPs and show support slots for Lianne La Havas, Laura Mvula, Leon Bridges and Professor Green.

And his big launch single Running Away, released through his own Sony imprint Pemba Records, arrives not a moment too soon. It's a sunny slice of soul-soothing R&B produced by Jonny Coffer (Jess Glynne, Beyonce, Naughty Boy) that not only has a timeless quality to it, but serves as the perfect antidote to anyone feeling exhausted by the slew of Ibiza-friendly dance dominating the airwaves at the moment.

The track now has effortlessly cool video to match, filmed in Langa, Cape Town and shot by directors Calmatic and Director X (Zayn, Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar, Drake).

"I shot the vid out in Cape Town, it's the first single from the album," Ady told us. "The hospitality was sick, the community's sick, so I'm very excited to show you guys the video. When we wrapped I was sad to leave South Africa. It was a very surreal experience, pretty nuts from me writing a song in my bedroom at 19 years old. Thanks to everyone in Langa, South Africa and I hope you all enjoy it.” Watch below:

Running Away is released on June 10. Ady headlines London's Oslo on July 12, and you can catch him at various festivals across the summer, including Glastonbury and V.
