Adele’s ‘21’ is now the biggest selling album of the 21st Century
According to the latest Official Charts Company data, Adele’s ‘21’ has become the biggest selling album of the 21st Century in just over 10 months.
‘21’ overtakes Amy Winehouse’s 2006 second album, ‘Back To Black’, which previously took the title back in August. To date, ‘21’ has sold 3.4 million copies in the UK, compared to 3.3 million of ‘Back To Black’.
Since its release in January, ‘21’ has never left the Top 10 and clocked up a staggering 45th week in the upper echelons of the Official Albums Chart yesterday (Sunday, December 4). It climbed from Number 9 to Number 5, undoubtedly spurred on by the London singer’s six Grammy nominations which include Album Of The Year, Record Of The Year, and Best Pop Vocal Album.
In related news, the Adele’s new DVD/Blu-ray, ‘Live At The Royal Albert Hall’, entered the Official Music Video Top 40 yesterday at Number 3.
