ABBA confirm they have recorded two new songs
We had a dream, and ABBA have made it come true! The Swedish legends have announced that new music is to come – their first for over 35 years.
The band have recently been working together on preparations for their upcoming ABBA avatar tour project and confirmed on social media that they had gone back into the studio to see what happened.
In their statement he band claim: "It was like time had stood still and that we have only been away on a short holiday. An extremely joyful experience." The sessions resulted in two new tracks, and the band revealed that one of them, entitled I Still Have Faith in You, will be performed by ABBA's digital alter egos in a TV special to air on the BBC in December. "The song is new," say the band. "And it feels good." WHOA.
Here's the full statement from Agnetha, Benny, Björn and Frida.
ABBA have scored nine Number 1 singles and nine Number 1 albums in the UK, mostly over their active period of 1974–1983. Their greatest hits collection Gold is the second biggest selling album of all time in the UK, with over 5.3 million copies sold. Look back at ABBA's full UK chart history

Will this new song be released as a single?
Mark Wislen
There are 2 New ABBA Songs - 'I Still Have Faith In You', (a slow ballad),
and 'Don't Shut Me Down', (an up-tempo Song). The ballad will be sung
during a 2 hour ABBA Tribute TV Special, in December. The TV Special
will be shown by the BBC & there are hopes that it will be shown Globally.
Both New Songs will be released as Singles. it is then up to the 'Global
Public', if the 2 Songs are to be Worldwide Hits...Both are certain to be
excellent. Benny & Bjorn would never allow them to be released otherwise.

Yes, I’m aware of all that. No article mentions single release.

Kamelo - Both New Songs are to be Singles. The Videos, that promote them, will be the most sophisticated that ABBA have ever done. This is due to 'Modern' technology. However, it is highly unlikely that the 'Real ABBA' will appear in them. They feel that they are far too old. Instead, the 4 ABBATars will 'sing' in the Videos. The vocals & music will be from ABBA, as they are now, but the 'Group' in the Videos will be the Holograms. Benny & Bjorn have now said that the 2 New ABBA Songs are very likely not the only New stuff that ABBA will give to us. They seem to have been given a new interest in being ABBA again, after their 2 New Songs. Therefore, we may well see a New ABBA Album getting released in 2019 or 2020. A follow-up to 'The Visitors', after 'only' 38 to 39 Years!

Thank you Mark, but my queries have now been clarified since my original question.
However, according to Benny, "they [ABBA] are not holograms" and they hate the terminology "ABBAtars". It will be interesting to see how the videos will be approached.
You tell us that the new videos will be the "most sophisticated that ABBA have ever done". Curious that Mark, considering the last proper video was 35 years ago? Who could possibly have concluded that?
Benny and Björn both accept that that recording the new songs has whetted their appetite. My instinct is that they will see what happens, assess how the audience reacts to their new work before committing to anything more. Concluding their ITV interview, they were asked if there was to be anything new above and beyond these songs. "I don't think so", suggests Benny. "We'll see how well you like them."
Sensible approach, I think. Ultimately, the audience will decide. But the four may very well be back in studio again.

Shame it isn't a whole new album's worth of material. But still best news of the year music wise!
