ABBA have broken pre-order records with their new album Voyage, just three days after its announcement.

A press statement for the band has revealed that Voyage has received over 80,000 pre-orders in the UK alone since Friday, a new record for their long-time label Universal Music UK. This overtakes the previous record-setters Take That with their albums Progress and III. Released under Universal imprint Polydor, Voyage will be available on Friday November 5.

In a worldwide stream on Thursday (September 2) ABBA confirmed plans to reunite for the first time in 40 four decades. Two new songs - I Still Have Faith In You and Don't Shut Me Down - were released to coincide with the announcement, and are on course to debut in the Top 10 of the Official Singles Chart this Friday.

If so, then they would clinch the group their 20th and 21st UK Top 10 entries respectfully. Voyage, the new album, will contain a total of 10 new tracks, with one Christmas song that could even see the group in contention for this year's coveted Christmas Number 1.

Digital versions of the iconic Swedish pop group will perform as part of a world-first residency in support of their new album in the specially constructed ABBA Arena in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London. General ticket sales for the ABBA Voyage show, which begins on May 27, 2022 - start on Tuesday, September 7 at 10am.

The digital ABBAtars of Agnetha Fältskog, Anni-Frid Lyngstad, Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus will perform their two new singles and greatest hits accompanied by a live 10-piece band.

ABBA's digital counterparts have been created by Industrial Light and Magic, the special effects company founded by George Lucas. Work on the concert series has involved months of motion-capture performances and an 850-strong team.

ABBA have scored nine Number 1 singles and nine Number 1 albums in the UK. Their greatest hits collection Gold is the only album to spend more than 1000 weeks on the Official Albums Chart and is the second bestselling album of all time in the UK, with 5.61 million copies sold as of August 2021. Look back at ABBA's full Official UK Chart history here

As a European who has left London for various reasons including Brexit, I am extremely pleased to learn that Britain embraces this European act so well. Please don't tell me that ABBA fans are exclusively Bremainers only!!
Now, all you need to do is to bring this to No.1 in both Singles and Album charts, then I might forgive you for BREXIT, lol. Come on UK! I know you can do it!

In the 1970's when vinyl was obviously the main format, ABBA's 'Arrival' album beat the previous record for pre-orders for The Carpenters 'Horizon' album. Then ABBA beat their own record with 'ABBA - The Album.' Then in 1980, 'Super Trouper' became the first album to get over 1 million pre-orders, only beaten by Frankie Goes To Hollywood's 'Welcome To The Pleasuredome' a few years later. Just for context.

Third paragraph, this line needs to be fixed "the first time in 40 four decades.", either it's four decades, or it's 40 years, it can't be both, unless you're trying to say 44 decades, which is a much longer time period.

But 626,000 of 'Greatest Hits' Sales, are from 'The Platinum Collection', (2000), and a Double Queen CD, (1994). It got 560,000 Sales, from the 2000 Triple CD, and 66,000 Sales, from the 1994 Double CD. This was done in 2006, when The Official Charts Company, compiled the UK's Top 100 'All Time' Albums. The second Queen 'Hits' Album, also got 626,000 Sales added, from the 2000 and 1994 Compilations. 'Greatest Hits III; got 560,000 Sales, added from the 2000 Triple CD. In fact, Alan Jones, confirmed this, in 'Music Week', in September 2009.

I know nothing about you, so I won't resort to name calling. You know nothing about me, but you call me 'sad'. How weird! We can all see that you are a very ill mannered individual. Your comment shows that. Maybe you are a Queen Fan. I don't know. I never said anything, (in my Queen Albums Comment), that was not a Fact.

It's OK Angela. I guess that I can be rather boring, with my Charts Statistics filled Posts. Like you, I'd far rather get along with everyone. Thanks for apologising. We all get in moods. I do too.

Universal Music Group completed their acquisition of EMI on September 28, 2012.
So this date excludes all Beatles albums from the 1960s which had pre-orders of around 500,000.
But 80,000 today is still very good.

.. the second bestselling album of all time in the UK, with 5.61 million copies sold as of August 2021.
This figure is out of date. One year ago it was certified 19 times platinum for 5.7 million sales. Sales today are around 5.8 million.

Are you seriously comparing a 1960s album preorder to now?

The biggest Pre-Order, (UK), of the 1960's, was 'Beatles For Sale', (1964), which had 750,000. That was not beaten, until ABBA's 'Super Trouper', in 1980, which had 1 Million. That was surpassed, in 1984, by that Year's biggest UK Singles Act - Frankie Goes To Hollywood, and their debut Album, 'Welcome To The Pleasuredome'. That had around 1,150,000 Pre-Orders. Which was not really reflected, in its solitary Week at No.1.

Even though there broke Album Pre-order which is great, i cant see Abba Beating Drake on singles charts this week, it should be really, but the Singles charts is UK is now based on Primary to more on Streaming Points units data than pure sales only, it needs extra boost from Downloads and Physical data now days needs to crushed, the only time, Abba could be #1 on Single is for Charity or Christmas and they concentrate on pure sales, the promo etc, these days the charts units data is lower than people think, it hardly or never gets 150K a week and has done that in years..

It is with their New Album, that ABBA will make a big impact. It is very hard for 'Old' Acts, to have Top 10 Singles, these Days. Except in December, when all the Old Christmas Hits get Millions upon Millions of Streams.

I'm sure Polydor are delighted to be referred to as an "imprint".
