A movie based on the life and career of Céline Dion will be released in 2020.

The Power Of Love has been commissioned by French studio Gaumont, with authorisation and permission granted by Céline's record label and the singer herself.

The movie is said to span the French-Canadian's upbringing in Charlemagne, Quebec, her rise to fame as a teenager (fingers crossed for a Eurovision flashback), and her relationship with her late manager and husband René Angélil.

Variety reports that Valerie Lemercier will direct the French-language film and star as Céline, while the singer's classics like All By Myself, My Heart Will Go On, and the movie's title track will feature.

Discussing Céline's relationship with her husband and mother, Lemercier commented: "I discovered the strength of their love story and their great humour, and I better understood how the alchemy of their three individual ambitions made an unwanted, little girl the greatest star on the planet.”

A release date of December 2, 2020 has been pencilled, with filming set to begin in March. Shooting will take place in Canada, France, Spain and the US, specifically Las Vegas, where Céline has performed many successful residencies.

My Heart Will Go On follows on from other biopics such as Golden Globe-winning Bohemian Rhapsody based on Freddie Mercury & Queen, and the upcoming Rocketman movie about Elton John.
