THE CODE
NEMO
- Peak: 18,
- Weeks: 3
Nemo emerged as the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2024. Securing victory in Malmö, Sweden, 24 year-old Switzerland entrant Nemo Mettler became the first non-binary artist ever to win the contest. It was also the first Swiss victory since 1988.
Genre-bending winning track The Code – which was written about Nemo coming to terms with their non-binary identity – debuted on the UK Official Chart at Number 18 in the week following the grand final in May 2024, becoming Nemo’s first UK chart entry.
Nemo followed in the footsteps of the Eurovision winners of recent years, for the previous five years (discounting the cancelled 2020 contest), every single Eurovision winner placed within the UK Top 40 following the contest, with Nemo joining 2019 winner Duncan Laurence’s Arcade (29), 2021 winners Maneskin with Zitti E Buoni (17), 2022 victors Kalush Orchestra with Stefania (38) and 2023’s record-setting champion Loreen with Tattoo (2).
