Who is Lauren Mayberry?
Lauren Mayberry (born 7 October 1987) is the frontwoman for acclaimed electro-pop band CHVRCHES. The Scottish musician, vocalist and percussionist co-writes and co-produces CHVRCHES songs with Iain Cook and Martin Doherty.
In 2023 it was announced that Mayberry would soon release solo material for the first time. She co-wrote her debut solo single Are You Awake with Canadian songwriter Tobias Jesso Jr.
Lauren's debut album, the "more directly pop" Vicious Creatures followed in December 2024, representing a new era in Mayberry’s artistry, and the culmination of two decades of life in a band that came before. The album's influences connected the icons of her youth (Tori Amos, Fiona Apple, PJ Harvey and Kathleen Hanna) as well as ‘90s British girl groups such as All Saints and Sugababes, whose music made a formative impact on her in the 2000s.
