CAT JANICE

Cat Janice was a singer-songwriter born in Virginia, United States on January 20 1993.

A musician from an early age, Janice learnt to play piano and violin from the age of six, and was classically trained for 14 years.

In 2022, Janice found a lump in her neck, which was diagnosed as a sarcoma; a rare form of cancerous tumour in her scalene muscle.

On February 15, Janice's track Dance You Outta My Head became her first-ever UK Official Singles Chart entry, transcending its vitality on social media app TikTok (100). The song also enjoyed Top 5 success on the Official Singles Sales Chart (2) and Official Singles Downloads Chart (2).

On releasing the track, Janice explained:

"Everyone knows that I've been battling cancer for a while and I wanted to put this song out, and just go stream it. I hope you like it.

"I don't know if I'm going to be around even when the song comes out, so let's just put it out. And I did." 

Cat Janice died on February 28 2024, aged 31, with her family announcing in a statement: "This morning, from her childhood home and surrounded by her loving family, Catherine peacefully entered the light and love of her heavenly creator. 

"We are eternally thankful for the outpouring of love that Catherine and our family have received over the past few months. Cat saw her music go places she never expected and rests in the peace of knowing that she will continue to provide for her son through her music. This would not have been possible without all of you."
