BLESSED MADONNA

Who is The Blessed Madonna?

The Blessed Madonna, real name Marea Stamper, born 22 October 1977, is an American producer and DJ. Starting her career in the late 1990s, selling underground DJ mixtapes at raves, The Blessed Madonna was named as Mixmag's DJ of the year in 2016 and founded her own record label called We Still Believe.

Her former stage name 'The Black Madonna' referenced the Black Madonna paintings of the Virgin Mary, a tribute to her family's Catholicism. However, in response to a petition that raised concerns of racial insensitivity, Stamper changed her stage name to The Blessed Madonna in 2020.

The Blessed Madonna has collaborated with a host of music's biggest names including a 2020 remix album of Dua Lipa's Future Nostalgia, titled Club Future Nostalgia, which was mixed by Stamper, and features guests including Madonna and Missy Elliott, as well as Mark Ronson, Gwen Stefani, and others.

The Blessed Madonna's first credited Official Chart Top 40 appearance came in 2021 on Fred Again collab Marea (We've Lost The Dancing), while 2024's Happier with Clementine Douglas was the track that delivered her first Top 20 hit. In the same year, her collaborations with pop's finest continued as she joined forces with Kylie Minogue on  Edge Of Saturday Night.

In 2021 The Blessed Madonna also made a move into broadcasting, hosting regular Saturday night shows on BBC Radio 6 Music. Image: Warner Music press shot / Eva Pentel
