Has anyone noticed how a lot of the singles & albums have the wrong cover art? In fact, one album 'Queen At The Beeb' from 1989 even has the wrong artist too - It has David Bowie's 'Bowie At The Beeb' shown instead of Queen. How embarrassing!

Who puts these covers up, because they're doing a rotten job & should be fired!

For some reason, the 7 weeks that Greatest Hits I & II were on the chart (13 Nov - 25 Dec 1994) have been added to the original Greatest Hits chart run and included in the total weeks for that release. It should be 1027 not 1034 (as at 27-Jan-2023). Still impressive though. If you include all the combined releases that contained the first Greatest Hits that's 1351 chart entries over 41 years and counting!

The newly released track Face it alone sounds like it was made for a James Bond movie soundtrack.

Queen Album was released 13th July 1973. Not the date given above

Belated reply, but the simple answer is that their debut album never charted on original release – it only made the charts after their second album became a hit. This isn't (for once) an OCC -up, the albums always appeared the 'wrong' way around in the Guinness British Hit Albums books too.

Great list of hits! Missing the Queen/Wyclef/Pras version of Another One Bites the Dust though....

I think 2 weeks ago the British album chart had its 60th birthday. I believe the best tool to measure long term importance of albums/artists are Weeks-On-Chart. Basing on that the British artist No.1 of all time are QUEEN, indeed! Michael Jackson is No.2, The Beatles No.3. For non-British European fans I've invented some modified all time lists. Weeks on British chart are amended/corrected with a half of weeks on Billboard 200. Results? For example, due to an American Queen-scepticism Queen are landing on position 4 "only". And The Beatles are No.1, Elvis Presley No.2, Michael J. No.3. Quite aptly, isn't it? For more details one can look at my www.historyoflongplay.com.

Jurek -- Despite spending longer on the entire UK Album Chart than any other Act, Queen are way behind The Beatles in Weeks at No.1. The Beatles had 15 UK No.1 Albums, with 175 Weeks at No.1 between them. Queen have had 9 UK No.1 Albums, with 21 No.1 Weeks between them. ABBA have also had 9 UK No.1 Albums, but they have spent more than twice as long at No.1 than Queen - 57 UK No.1 Album Weeks...

Mark, firstly, obviously, I'd like to withdraw my remark about recent 60th birthday of British album chart... On the other hand, Weeks-On-Chart are not the sole tool to measure importance of artists resp. LPs. However, if you were looking for one relatively simple criterion, Weeks-On-Chart would be the best available one, I believe. And for a non-British fan [like me] British weeks, with an American correction, are giving really very very nice results. I know these are only weeks on charts, but I like it...
Best regards
Jurek.

However, Weeks in the Top 100, or the Top 75, does not reflect Chart Dominance. Only Weeks in the No.1 Position, or Top 5, or Top 10, can do that. On that basis, The Beatles were far more dominant, in the UK Singles & Albums Charts, than Queen were...

Marcus, thank you for your comment. I am some Polish guy. We have not here any representative list like UK or US ones. And we are closer to UK, not neglecting Billboard. Please, refer to my www.historyoflongplay. com. You will find, that a simple criteria of UK "weeks-on-chart" with US correction, give results you are talking about. Thant means - The Beatles are No. 1, and Queen No. 3 "only" [as per today's status quo].
Best regards / Jurek

Queen deserve more No 1 hits and albums in UK. I can't understand how such legendary sons as We are the champions, Crazy little thing called love, Radio Ga Ga or I want to break free didn't manage to top the chart. Ant The show must go on only No 16 ???? You're kidding me, right?
The same with some their albums as The Works (No 2 in 1984) or News of the wold (just No 4 in 1977)

Sometimes I think that too, but then again, charts are only a measure of popularity and commercial success, not neccessarily a measure of quality.

Queen had such a long and successful Career, that they are the UK's 2nd Best Selling Albums Act, with at least 26 Million to 28 Million UK Albums sold. Only The Beatles have sold more UK Albums. Until the 'Bohemian Rhapsody' Album, 'The Works' was Queen's longest staying Album, in the UK Top 10. It spent 25 Weeks there. Ironically, it was not a UK No.1. It Peaked at No.2. The 'Bohemian Rhapsody' Album became their 1st Album to reach 30 Weeks in the UK Top 10. Then it reached 40 Top 10 Weeks. So far, it has had 41 Weeks in the UK Top 10.

This view is clearly subjective. Ed Sheeran and ABBA are popular but many would say they lack quality, whereas you couldn't say that of The Beatles or Queen. At the end of the day it doesn't matter let's just stick to the statistics.

Their Greatest Hits album is the best selling album in the UK with over 6 million sales! Bo Rhap has now spent 14 weeks at number one in the UK singles chart and is the third best selling song in the UK. It is still the only single to top the charts in 4 different years. I'd say they've been pretty successful. I agree though that it was a shame We Are The Champions didn't get to number one, it's a magnificent song. The show must go on was released before Freddie announced that he had AIDS (although rumours were rife as he was very gaunt), and it bounced when Bo Rhap was released. It's so sad that he died 24 hours after announcing the news.

As of last week, your wish is granted. Another new #1 album!

Of course, this makes me more happy, but this is only small compensation for all those cases, when Queen had to be No 1, but wasn't. I'd rather wish that they had one more No 1 album, when they were in original line with Freddie over this live album.

With 275 million equivalent album sales worldwide, Queen are among the four most successful artists of all time, just behind The Beatles (440 million), Michael Jackson (335 million) and Elvis Presley (319 million). Chart positions are only for the moment.

I think they done very well. Bohemian Rapsody was the longest single that made number 1. Infact the longest song to ever make the top 40 that I can think of. I agree some songs should have done betrer, Love of my life should have been at least top ten. And Is this the world we created should have been a single.

Topped the chart twice before Christmas and continued to be number one into the new year - not quite the same as topping the chart 4 times, but technically you are correct :) Still amazing to have been Christmas number one twice, though, before the downloads and streaming era...

Queen were a great band. They released some great songs and my favourite from them is Radio ga ga
