Justin Timberlake made her famous wbk
JLO
Huh? Her debut single baby one more time made her famous. It was even the highest selling single in the UK in 1999. That single alone catapulted her to stardom. Justin actually used his relationship with her to distance himself from his own group NSYNC before he went solo in 2002... They made their first appearance as a couple at the 2000 VMAs and Justin had 2 years of media about their relatonship which ended the year he went solo in 2002 but his debut solo single wasn't a smash in his own country and was labeled as a MJ wannabe but he then used the split with Britney to releasse CRY ME A RIVER which was obviously about her even before the ideo was released with the lookalike. Justin milked that for years which was mentioned in one of the recent docs about her which he also recently apologized for after backlash in the way he cmade her a vilain with CMAR only to gain sympathy with the breakup and really launch his solo career.
Just correcting your false statement with nothing but a fact.

Its weird she never had a #1 album in the U.K and some of her songs didnt peak #1 instead peaking #2 a lot.
Fix
Teen pop was never really a big deal in the UK unless its a British act. Backstreet Boys and Nsync flopped so badly in the UK. Christina Aguilera only smash album was Stripped and that is solely thanks to Beautiful which is an adult contemporary songs. Honestly speaking, Britney already did wonders in the UK considering her Teen Pop genre.

Bit of a misleading comment in part there surely Fix? Backstreet Boys had 16 (!) Top Ten hits in the UK, that's hardly "flopped so badly" territory. NKOTB before them had 8 Top Tens in barely over a year and basically invented the '90s boyband craze in Britain singlehanded. Nsync it's true didn't really cross over here nearly so much bar a couple of major hits like Bye Bye Bye.
I'd contend that Christina's Stripped album achieved its longevity in the UK charts thanks to a whole string of successful singles in different styles that kept finding it a new fanbase – Dirrty and Beautiful were both goalpost-shifting Number One singles for her, then the likes of Fighter and The Voice Within kept it rolling over more than a year.
Not sure what Saint Perth is thinking of in particular with "some of [Britney's] songs didnt peak #1 instead peaking #2 a lot" – she's had six #1 hits in the UK and only two #2's! The five #2 albums without any topping the charts is a bit freaky though.

Backstreet Boys failed to have even one album selling more than a million while artist like Madonna, Celine Dion, Queen, Eminem had albums selling upwards of 2 millions and plenty of 1 million ++ albums. Yes Backstreet Boys have pretty good singles chart runs. But that just proves that they have a sizable "Casual Fan" the kind of a fan that might like 1 song, but unwilling to purchase an entire album. In other words they dont have a huge loyal fanbase. Selling albums always carries more weight than singles. Out of all the "Teen Pop" albums ever released, only Baby One More Time reached 1 million album sales. While the likes of Eminem, Norah Jones, Rihanna, managed to have several 1 million ++ albums. Its so obvious teen pop wasnt selling there. Selling 1 million album wasnt a big deal in the UK back then especially back in 1997-2003 the biggest market in history. So for them failing to have even 1, million dollar album sales, certainly proves they aren't a big deal over there. Teen pop in the UK are very good single sellers, while they weren't that big of an album seller there. Wherelse in other region its the opposite.
Dirty was no 1 simply due to her buzz. The single quickly fizzles out after a few weeks. Stripped debut was also very disappointing. It debut at no 19 and quickly went outside the top 50 after only 5 weeks inside the charts. So obviously Dirty failed to generate sales for the album. Fighter peaked at no 2, not 1. it did well to retain the longevity of the album. But if it wasnt for beautiful, there is no way the album would sell that much.
As far as Britney is concerned. Her sales was great for a teen pop artists. But I would say at most her sales are in the B league category. Compare her to Madonna, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, etc. Her sales isn't even close. Madonna, Whitney, Celine had no problems selling 2 million ++ per albums and plenty of 1 million ++ albums at their peak. While she struggled to sell even a million. Oops I Did Again failed to reach 1 million sales in the UK. That alone speaks volume of her sales in the UK. In fact other than Germany, Spain, and some other European markets. Europe has never been into Teen Pop. Britney selling 4 million in for both Baby & Oops isnt a big deal in Europe. Especially since Mariah, Celine Whitney, Madonna, had albums selling 8 million upwards for an album.
