LLOYD PRICE

Lloyd Price was born in New Orleans in 1933 and rose to fame with his 1952 single Lawdy Miss Clawdy, which went on to become a popular cover choice by artists including Paul McCartney, Elvis Presley, and The Hollies. After serving in the US Army in Korea in 1954, he returned to music and scored his biggest hit Stagger Lee, his version of an old blues standard. Another Top 10 hit of his, Personality, led him to be nicknamed Mr Personality. On May 3, the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame honouree died from complications with diabetes. He was 88 years old.
