DESIRE I WANT TO TURN INTO YOU
CAROLINE POLACHEK
- Peak: 23,
- Weeks: 1
American indie-pop contortionist Caroline Polachek initially came to fame as a member of the duo Chairlift during the mid-to-late 2000s. Following the group's split, Polachek made moves to establish herself as a solo artist; she wrote the song No Angel, featured on Beyoncé's acclaimed 2013 self-titled record, and after several false starts, finally unveiled her grand plans in 2019 with the launch of her album PANG, on which she teamed up with Danny L Harle (Charli XCX, Dua Lipa).
Positioning herself as a peer to the likes of Charli XCX and Grimes, Polachek's accomplished second album Desire, I Want To Turn Into You was another bold, singular step in the pop world, and became her first album to enter the Official Albums Chart Top 40 in the UK, reaching Number 23.
