6LACK pronounced 'black' (born Ricardo Valdez Valentine Jr on June 24, 1992 in Baltimore, Maryland) is an American rapper from Atlanta, Georgia. 6LACK's love of music began aged 4 in his father's recording studio, leading to him becoming a battle rapper in middle school, taking on fellow chart contemporary Young Thug at one point. 6LACK released his debut album FREE 6LACK in November 2016, which was nominated at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards for Best Urban Contemporary Album. 6LACK's second studio album East Atlanta Love Letter was his first to chart in the UK, entering the Official Albums Chart Top 20 in September 2018. 6LACK has worked with an electic roster of other artists during his career including Khalid, Ty Dolla $ign, Normani, Future, J. Cole, Timbaland, Lil Tjay, Rita Ora and Selena Gomez.
