BOYZONE

Who are Boyzone?

Irish boy band Boyzone became an international sensation in the Nineties. Put together by manager Louis Walsh who also managed Westlife, Boyzone comprise members Ronan Keating, the late Stephen Gately, Mikey Graham, Keith Duffy and Shane Lynch.

Boyzone made their debut appearance on The Official Chart in 1994 with Love Me For A Reason, which peaked at Number 2 and kicked off a prolific run of Top 5 hits for the group. It was a cover of Bee Gees' hit Words that, two years later, gave Boyzone their first UK Number 1, the first of six Number 1 singles across their career. Boyzone's other Number 1s included follow-up single to Words, A Different Beat, 1998's All That I Need and No Matter What from the musical Whistle Down The Wind. Two more chart-toppers followed in 1999 with When The Going Gets Tough and You Needed Me.

Boyzone also topped the Official Albums Chart on multiple occasions - scoring a total of five UK Number 1 albums starting with their 1995 debut Said And Done, followed by A Different Beat, Where We Belong, By Request and most recently 2010's Brother. The group separated in 1999 but reformed for a string of reunions and anniversary celebrations in subsequent decades. Beloved singer Stephen Gately sadly passed away in 2009.

In 2025, a three-part documentary was released on Sky and Now TV. Boyzone: No Matter What charted the untold story of their creation by Louis Walsh in 1993, their rise to fame and eventual separation.
