Who are Voice of the Beehive?

Voice of the Beehive are a '90s alternative pop/rock band, known for their signature mix of jangly guitars and melodic pop hooks

Formed in London in 1986, Voice of the Beehive's members comprise Californian sisters Tracey Bryn and Melissa Brooke Belland on lead vocals, plus British musicians Daniel 'Woody' Woodgate (formerly of Madness) on drums, bassist Martin Brett and Mike Jones on guitar.

Their debut appearance on the UK Official Chart was in November 1987 with I Say Nothing, six months later Voice of the Beehive scored their highest-charting single in Don't Call Me Baby, peaking at Number 15, one of five UK Top 40 singles for the band.

Their 1988 debut album Let It Bee reached Number 13, Voice of the Beehive achieved two Top 20 placings on the Official Albums Chart, with follow-up album Honey Lingers entering at Number 17 in 1991. Image: press / Swell / Kevin Westenberg
