ELVIS PRESLEY

Born in Tupelo, Mississippi, on January 8, 1935, Elvis Presley is one of the UK charts's leading icons. Presley passed away on August 16 1977. Some 39 years later, his posthumous album Wonder of You hit Number 1, creating the largest gap between Number 1 albums ever recorded, a span of over 50 years.

Shouldn't it be 18 No. 1s? The three that made it to No. 1 again in 2005 were on the same label and with the same catalogue number as the originals, so they were technically re-entries rather than reissues. Have a look at the chart history on this site of 'Suspicious Minds', which had its main chart run on first release in 1969, and two lesser chart runs in 2001 and 2007. All three chart runs are counted as the same release, i.e. the two 21st century ones as re-entries. If the same rule is applied to the No. 1s, and they went back to the top after 40-something years, we're talking 18 not 21, surely? It's not like Queen's 'Bohemian Rhapsody' in 1991, which was a double A-side with 'These Are The Days Of Our Lives' and not a re-pressing of the 1975 release.

Mm Interesting? Not one Beatle fan, has gone out of their way, to make a disrespectful comment here, thus not upsetting any Elvis fans. It is a pity though, on the Beatles comment section, elvis fans could not give the same courtesy, but rather give in to the urge's that they feel they must make comments, reminding everyone yet again that the beatles only exist because of elvis, and in the progress upsetting people, as if somehow it makes them feel so much better. I hope you all feel very proud of yourself. I am sure Elvis does to.14042021

Just noticed he has exactly the same amount of weeks in both top 40s (Singles and Albums): 1062.
Although it has been over 2 years since either tally was added to.

Elvis has now overtaken The Beatles for the Number Of Weeks on the UK Top 75 Album Chart. The Beatles have 1400 and Elvis has 1405. Queen top the list with 1435 weeks. Hopefully Elvis will top Queen by this time next year.

Elvis is back at No.1 with 'The Wonder Of You' album. He is the most successful chart act ever in the UK and long may he reign. He was truly 'sui generis'. Talented artists come and go but Elvis is forever.

Scotty Moore, Elvis' original guitarist died yesterday aged 84.
Scotty's early contributions to Elvis' Sun recordings are legendary. His innovative and inspirational licks will go down in history. I never tire of listening to his guitar work and he was the template for many of today's guitar legends. The 1968 NBC TV Special showed him in great form alongside Elvis. I will never forget him.

R.I.P. Scotty.

IICD has now officially sold over 1 million units in the UK.

Sony Music Entertainment is delighted to announce the phenomenal No.1 album by the undisputed King of Rock N’ Roll, If I Can Dream: Elvis Presley with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra is now officially a million seller – after breaking through the symbolic milestone in the UK.

If I Can Dream spent two weeks at No.1 and it has never left the Top 20 since its release at the end of October. It was the second biggest selling new release of 2015, behind only Adele, and made Elvis the first solo artist to ever have a UK No.1 album in five different decades beginning in 1956 with Rock ‘N’ Roll. It is an astonishing achievement, made even more remarkable by the fact Elvis passed away more than 38 years ago.

Executive producer Priscilla Presley said: “Once again the UK has shown how much they love and adore Elvis. This is an album that Elvis always really wanted to do and he would be so pleased to know that we have touched one million fans. I want to thank you with all my heart, helping us realise an unfulfilled dream” Watch her video message here https://youtu.be/2niug1NvQRw

If I Can Dream: Elvis Presley With The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra is a remarkable album that features classic Elvis vocal performances with brand new orchestral accompaniments including a duet with Michael Bublé.

Elvis is the biggest-selling solo artist of all time, having astonishingly sold more than one billion records worldwide.

Elvis made the transition from local star on Sun Records to national sensation with RCA in 1956. His first hit for his new label - Heartbreak Hotel - became a worldwide phenomenon. Yet he retained the band that stood shoulder to shoulder with him in Memphis Sun Studios: Scotty Moore on guitar, Bill Black on bass and drummer D.J. Fontana. They helped form the spare, simmering sound of Heartbreak Hotel. In Britain, released on RCA's UK label HMV, it took seven weeks to reach no.2. A nation of future hitmakers had found their calling.

Elvis got 3 extra number ones in 2005 by merely changing the catalogue number - this should never have been allowed. All re-releases should be treated as re-entries.

I'm a little confused here.
You are treating Elvis Vs JXL as a separate 'chart act' credited with one No.1 single.

But the 'chart act' Elvis Presley is listed with 21 No.1 singles.
So, that makes a total of 22 No.1 singles for him !
But, it's common knowledge he had 21 !
Can we assume that all the 'weeks on chart' stats for Elvis Presley also include those for Elvis Vs JXL ?
