Yeah Yeah Yeahs formed in New York City in 2000. The indie-rock / garage punk group is composed of vocalist Karen O, guitarist and keyboardist Nick Zinner, and drummer Brian Chase.
Karen O and Brian met at college in Ohio in the late 1990s, and later met Zinner at New York University. The band wrote several songs at their first rehearsal and went on to support The Strokes and White Stripes.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs' first UK Top 40 appearance on The Official Chart was in November 2002 with Machine, they earned several Top 40 hits over the next 12 months including their highest-charting single of their career - Date With The Night, peaking at Number 16.
Their critically-acclaimed debut album Fever To Tell made the Top 20 of the Official Albums Chart (Number 13) and set the foundations for a string of Top 10 albums that followed, including 2006's Show Your Bones, It's Blitz in 2009, 2013's Mosquito and their fifth album and first in nine years Cool It Down in 2022 (10).
In 2025, to celebrate 25 years in music, Yeah Yeah Yeahs announced the "Hidden In Pieces" tour, a retrospective show reimagined for intimate theatre settings across the US and UK. Image: press / SJM Barnaby Clay
