Tracks like Shake It Off, Blank Space and Style helped Taylor pay tribute to the music that defined the decade of her birth and re-define the standards of modern pop music. Released October 27 2023, 1989 (Taylor's Version) became perhaps the most anticipated of all her re-recordings, precisely because it would help decide if lightning can indeed strike twice.
On 3 November 2023, 1989 (Taylor's Version) landed straight in at Number 1 on the UK's Official Albums Chart with a huge opening week tally of 185,000 chart units according to Official Charts Company data, where it spent three consecutive weeks in the top spot.
