HOT FUSS
by KILLERS
Hot Fuss is the debut studio album by Las Vegas rockers The Killers. It was released 7 June 2004 and spawned the record-breaking longest-running hit on the UK Official Singles Chart, Mr Brightside.
A commercial success, Hot Fuss reached Number 1 on the UK Official Albums Chart in January 2005 and achieved multi-platinum certification, going on to spend more than four years in the UK Top 100. The album produced several UK hit singles, including their debut appearance on the Official Singles Chart with Somebody Told Me which peaked at Number 3, All These Things That I've Done, and Smile Like You Mean It.
Hot Fuss was produced by Jeff Saltzman, who had previously worked with The Flaming Lips, the album was recorded and mixed at various studios in the US and London, including Cornerstone Recording Studios, and Eden Studios.
The album blends elements of indie rock, post-punk revival, new wave, and synth-pop; its sound characterized by catchy melodies and frontman Brandon Flowers' distinctive vocals. The lyrics of Hot Fuss explore themes of love, longing, infidelity, and disillusionment.
In terms of its legacy, Hot Fuss is widely regarded as one of the defining albums of the 2000s indie rock scene, its impact helped to establish The Killers as one of the leading bands of the decade, while indie-pop anthem Mr Brightside has gone on to become the UK's biggest song of all time yet to have reached Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart.
