Frank Turner's tenth album Undefeated, released via Xtra Mile Recordings on 3 May 2024 marks the follow-up to his first UK Number 1 album, 2022’s FTHC. Undefeated once again sees Frank embracing the liberation of being an independent artist.

Turner wrote, recorded and produced Undefeated in his home studio on Mersea Island, backed by his long-time band The Sleeping Souls, comprising Ben Lloyd (guitar), Tarrant Anderson (bass), Callum Green (drums) and Matt Nasir (piano). Undefeated is Frank Turner's first album without a big label involved in over a decade.

Thematically, Undefeated finds the sweet spot between youthful outspokenness and surviving midlife’s challenges, it’s a record that explores both emotionally compelling topics and lighter reflections on those troubles that eventually come to us all.

Announcing the album, Frank stated "After the pandemic, back in the independent world, with a new drummer, I feel proud, grateful and pleasantly surprised to be putting out a record that I love with all my heart, that I think might be one of my best. It’s a defiant, energetic record about growing old disgracefully and making peace with that. I’m still standing up, still have something to share with the world, and I’m excited to let you know about it.

So, here we go! ‘Do One’ was the final song I wrote for this album. I felt like I needed a song to sum up where I’m at in one short burst – revitalised, rebellious, having fun, and still a sucker for a big singalong. I hope you enjoy the song, and I can’t wait to sing it with you at a show sometime this year."

To launch the Undefeated album, Frank Turner set about a world record attempt to play the most number of shows in different cities in a 24 hour period, Frank's attempt is in association with Music Venue Trust, a registered UK charity which serves to protect, secure and improve grassroots music venues for whom he's a patron.

Commenting on the challenge, Frank said "With nearly 3000 shows under my belt, I’ve never been one to do things by halves or shirk a challenge – I once played all 50 American states in 50 days, for goodness sake...It’s not just self-promotion either. We’re working with 13 independent record shops and 15 independent grassroots music venues for the shows, highlighting two bits of the infrastructure of the underground that I care about most. It’s going to be tough, but hopefully fun too. Come down for a show!"

Undefeated delivered Frank a sixth Top 10 album, reaching Number 3, and securing the best seller in UK indie record shops in the album's opening week. All's well that ends well.
