BLACK RAINBOWS

Black Rainbows is the fourth album by English singer-songwriter Corinne Bailey Rae, released on September 15 2023 via her own label, Black Rainbows and indie distributor Thirty Tigers.
Rae's first album in seven years, the record was initially inspired by artist Theaster Gates' exhibition on Black History at the Stony Island Arts Bank in Chicago, which tackled themes of 'slavery, spirituality, beauty, survival, hope and freedom,' which Rae went on to incorporate into the album.
Defined by its extraordinary switches in style - from glitchy electronica to swooning R&B and raucaus guitar rock - Black Rainbows received universal acclaim from critics, with many conceding that Rae had made her best album to date.
On July 28 2024, Black Rainbows became one of the 12 LPs to be nominated for the 2024 Mercury Music Prize, giving Rae her first Mercury nod.
