THE BALLAD OF DARREN
by BLUR
The ninth studio album from Britpop icons Blur is also the band's shortest, checking in at a shade over 36 minutes. Comprising 10 alt-rock bangers including The Narcissist, which peaked at Number 81 on the Official Singles Chart, it was produced by Haim and Florence and the Machine collaborator James Ford. Frontman Damon Albarn described the album as "an aftershock, reflection and comment on where we find ourselves now", and it definitely connected with fans, debuting at Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart when it arrived in July 2023. In the process, it became Blur's seventh UK Number 1 album following 1994's Parklife, 1995's The Great Escape, 1997's Blur, 1999's 13, 2003's Think Tank and 2015's The Magic Whip.
