LIVES OUTGROWN
by BETH GIBBONS
Lives Outgrown is the debut studio album by Beth Gibbons, best known as a member of English band Portishead.
More than a decade in the making, Lives Outgrown was finally released on May 17 2024 via indie record Domino. Gibbons wrote the album as she approached 60, and has said that it specifically deals with 'motherhood, anxiety, menopause and mortality.' It was produced in part by James Ford, best known for his work with Arctic Monkeys and Jessie Ware.
Lives Outgrown became Gibbons's first Top 10 solo album, debuting at Number 7 on the Official Albums Chart on May 24 2024. Critically adored, Lives Outgrown became one of the 12 LPs shortlisted for the Mercury Prize 2024, something of a boon for Gibbons, who previously took home the Mercury in 1995 for her work on Portishead's own debut album, Dummy.
