Please Please Please is the second single from Sabrina Carpenter's sixth studio album Short 'n' Sweet, released 6 June 2024 as the follow-up to Sabrina's UK Number 1 Espresso.
Produced by Jack Antonoff, Please Please Please takes in sounds spanning disco, yacht rock and country, while the song's lyrics find Sabrina asking her boyfriend not to blemish her reputation.
On 21 June 2024, Please Please Please me toppled Eminem's Houdini to secure Sabrina her second UK Number 1 single in less than two months, while Espresso stayed riding at Number 2. In doing so, Sabrina Carpenter set a new Official Chart record, becoming the youngest female artist in history to hold the Number 1 and Number 2 spots on the Official Singles Chart in the same week.
Aged 25 years, 1 month and 10 days, Sabrina surpassed a record previously held by Ariana Grande. Grande was 25 years, 7 months and 20 days old when she achieved the same feat in February 2019, with 7 rings and break up with your girlfriend, i’m bored occupying Numbers 1 and 2 respectively.
By June 2024, Sabrina was rewriting chart history as Please Please Please climbed to Number 1, while Espresso was still riding at Number 2. In doing so, Sabrina Carpenter became the youngest female artist in Official Chart history to hold the Number 1 and Number 2 spots on the Official Singles Chart in the same week.
Just two weeks later on 5 July 2024 with Please Please Please unmoved from the top spot, Sabrina set another new Official Chart record, becoming the first ever female artist to simultaneously hold the UK Number 1 and Number 2 single for three consecutive weeks. She matched The Beatles who achieved the same feat on two occasions, while only Justin Bieber (4 weeks) and Ed Sheeran (5 weeks) have managed longer.
