From w/e 05 April: George Ezra - Staying At Tamara's 

George's second album landed straight in at Number 1 in April, shifting 63,000 combined sales in its opening week.

From w/e 19 April: Kylie Minogue - Golden

Kylie's 14th studio album shone bright at the top of the chart in April. Celebrating the news, she told us: 

"I don’t know where to start… Thank you to everybody who has been involved in getting Golden to Number 1. I am so overwhelmed, happy, proud, emotional and very, very thankful and grateful. Much love and many, many, many thanks."

From w/e 24 May: Arctic Monkeys - Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino

The band scored their sixth consecutive Number 1 album in May, achieving combined sales of 86,000.

24,500 of those sales were on vinyl, making it the fastest-selling vinyl record of the last 25 years. 

From w/e 12 July: Drake - Scorpion

Drake's eighth record landed at Number 1 in July with 64,000 combined sales, 50,000 of which came from the streaming - the second highest week of streams for an album after Ed's Divide (76,000).

From w/e 02 August: Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again - Motion Picture Cast Recording

Mamma Mia! producer Judy Craymer told us: "It is fantastic news that the soundtrack to Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again has gone to Number 1. It’s the celebration of our wonderful cast featuring Christine Baranski, Pierce Brosnan, Dominic Cooper, Colin Firth, Andy Garcia, Lily James, Amanda Seyfried, Stellan Skarsgård, Julie Walters and Meryl Streep - and of course Cher, singing Fernando. It shows just how irresistible ABBA's songs are."

October saw Rod Steward claim his ninth Number 1, 47 years into his career. "Thank you to the great British public for making Blood Red Roses Number 1," he told us. "I’m grateful, I’m humbled and feel like I just scored the winning goal in front of the home crowd."

Take That landed their eighth Number 1 with their reworked greatest hits album, which became the fastest-selling artist album of 2018 (106,000 combined sales).
