These charts should just be sales, if you buy it and you buy it enough it will chart simple as. Plus it should be SINGLES only, clue is in the name of the chart and should not include album tracks or anything else which have not been officially released as a SINGLE.

My thoughts & observations on the UK charts always…
‘Beautiful People’ by Ed Sheeran ft Khalid is the new #1 on the singles chart! It’s Ed’s seventh #1 hit & Khalid’s second.
Despite being toppled from the top of the singles chart, ‘Senorita’ by Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello does become the most played song on British radio this week.

In other radio chart news, ‘Chasing Cars’ by Snow Patrol was recently announced as the biggest airplay hit of the century so far in the UK.
‘Old Town Road [Remix]’ by Lil Nas X ft Billy Ray Cyrus reaches its 13th non-consecutive week at #1 on the national YouTube chart! It drops 2.6% of its weekly views to 3.75 million.

Even though it’s only thanks to the two new chart rules, ‘I Don’t Care’ ties ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ & ‘Last Christmas’ for the biggest dropout in chart history (all from #2). Personally, I feel that not having a song being in the chart despite probably being either the second or third most popular of the week is very unfair.
ED SHEERAN FT STORMZY - TAKE ME BACK TO LONDON (#3)
We all knew this was coming, ever since the two artists collaborated on the remix to ‘Shape Of You’ a couple of years back, as well as both being good friends for a while & being among the biggest British artists currently putting out grime music. Although, despite this being an obvious teaming, it’s also one of the highlights of the album for me personally! I think the biggest reason behind it’s UK appeal is, of course, how patriotic the song is, with both of them reminding fans that home truly is where the heart despite all of the travelling or even their recent national achievements like winning BRIT Awards or headlining Glastonbury. While I’m not completely sold by Ed’s rhythm on the hook, there’s at least a fair level of passion here & both artists accompany each other fine enough. I do feel like this might have a lot of first week hype & hence could run the risk of being frontloaded, but I’m definitely liking the level of reflection both artists show & even bragging that doesn’t sound all that cocky, such as when Ed talks about his last tour grossing half a billion pounds. It might not be revolutionary exactly, but it achieves what it needed to & is a good song to boot. I’d say a very light 8/10 for this for now!
KREPT & KONAN FT HEADIE ONE & K-TRAP - I SPY (#18)
I’ll say this, for as much as they seem to fade out of the spotlight as quickly as they jump back into it, Krept & Konan are certainly a rap duo that I’m intrigued by more than most others. That’s because they combine so many different styles of urban music, with this one being a combination of grime & UK drill, while also finding the right balance between the two. The production is both hard-hitting yet vibrant thanks to B-Kay, which seems to be a fitting match to the darker delivery all four artists bring to the song (which is kind of ironic for a song called ‘I Spy’!). Not only that, but it seems to match the content soon & while it’s just about not giving the time of day to haters on the surface, dig a little deeper & you find that this is one of the more convincing & believable hits currently in the charts that take this approach. Nothing really exceptional, given what this group have done before, but despite the annoying chipmunk vocal snippets, I’m sure it’ll grow on me even further. It’s already getting a really light 7/10 from me as it is though!
REMEDEE X NOT3S & YOUNG ADZ - LOML (#37)
Look, I don’t really know too much about Remedee & I’ve only got a sense of who Young Adz is recently, but with me having followed Not3s for considerably longer & even seen him live recently, surely the three of them can bring more to the table than this? The content seemed promising the chorus where they say they’re going to treat the woman question like a gentlemen, then completely kill any intent of that happening with the rest of the song being full of $ex references about said woman, as well as bragging that you’ve all heard in this kind of song a thousand times already this year! I guess I can kind of appreciate that most of the raps flow well here, but that also reminds me of the very weird structure that this song has. I mean, for a collaboration between Not3s & a member of D-Block Europe, it connects better than you would expect, but I doubt I’m going to revisit this by choice. It’s an extremely light 5/10!
TIESTO, JONAS BLUE & RITA ORA - RITUAL (#40)
This is the kind of collaboration that I thought would’ve impacted this region of the chart sooner, given that it got considerable airplay across a variety of major stations & you’ll hear over the TV or clubs too since we’re deep into the summer, but anyway, it’s finally here & honestly, I thought it would be a little better. It’s still by no means bad though & I think the main reason for that is Rita Ora’s vocals, which appear to shine over a hook that’s trying to be way more explosive than it actually is. Despite this, while Tiesto & Jonas Blue both get lead credit here, the production honestly sounds like it’s about 90% Tiesto & 10% Jonas Blue. I do get hints of the latter’s work over the light, breezy verses, but the track is really dominated by the club feel this is going for in the hook. I don’t even mind the slightly off-cycle nor repetitive delivery in the chorus either, but the two DJs here have generally gone for different styles of dance music that coming to a compromise might be a big challenge & I do feel like this proved it. Still a fun enough song, it’s decent, so… light 6/10!
On the albums chart, ‘No.6 Collaborations Project’ becomes the fastest selling album of the year so far, giving Ed Sheeran his fourth #1!
With 125,000 combined sales (57,000 physical, 18,000 downloads & 70.2 million streams), ‘No.6 Collaborations Project’ outperformed the rest of the Top 30 combined!
The rest of the Top 5 is: ‘Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent’ (1-2), ‘When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?’ by Billie Eilish (4-3), ‘Step Back In Time: The Definitive Collection’ by Kylie Minogue (2-4) & ‘A Star Is Born [Soundtrack]’ by Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper (25-5). The latter gains by so much thanks to its national TV premiere last Friday.

What is the new rule for I Don't Care dropping out from top 100?

An artist can only have three entries in the singles chart at the same time. The oldest is knocked out to make room for a new one, so on and so forth.

There were two reasons for this...
1) Because 'I Don't Care' had been on the charts for 10 weeks & declined in performance the past three weeks before this one, it got moved to ACR (Accelerated Chart Ratio) meaning streams only have half the value that they did before.
2) Artists can only have up to three songs as a lead artist on the chart. Therefore, since: 'Beautiful People', 'Take Me Back To London' & 'Cross Me' all had more combined sales than 'I Don't Care' had this week, the latter wasn't included here at all.

The charts are pants since downloads and streaming has started.
This has killed a lot of artists and bands off as a result that it's mainly only the kids and youngsters that buy downloads. Once your over a certain age people aren't going to buy downloads and stream songs, they will just wait for the album to come out. I used to love the charts, but they don't mean anything these days.

That’s not exactly true - a lot of people from my generation (mid 40s) and older do stream songs and in high numbers. The difference is that we listen to a lot of different tracks and not just what’s in the Spotify hot tracks playlist.

Hey Piran! I definitely love the impact that 'No.6 Collaborations Project' had this week, and the Top 5 is pretty much exactly what I expected it to be, though I do wish 'Remember The Name' had been able to outperform 'Cross Me'. The album itself may have only just been able to outsell '+', but I was correct in that I thought it'd get the 2nd biggest streaming debut ever. Of course, '÷'s 78,944 streaming equivalent sales will probably remain the biggest for years to come, but 'No.6' managed 49,858, just 143 ahead of 'Scorpion'! With those kind of streams the singles chart really doesn't represent the most popular songs at all this week. Not only is the true #2 (or maybe #3) song excluded from the chart, but 12 of Ed's songs are excluded from the Top 30! I actually just posted what the chart would've looked like without artists being restricted in the comments here, and even with ACR still being included there it still gives a much more accurate representation of the most popular tracks of the week.
I do really like that both 'Ladbroke Grove' and 'So High' were able to climb into the Top 10 this week, even if they shouldn't really be there, and I think they actually have a somewhat decent chance of reaching the Top 5 in the future! 'Location' being taken off ACR (presumably because the label requested it because of the official video and the track being pushed as a single now) for that massive climb is really great as well.
As for the debuts, 'Take Me Back to London' is of course my favourite, as my 3rd favourite track from 'No.6' is gets a solid-strong 10/10 from me! I liked 'I Spy' quite a bit so that'd get a strong 7/10, 'Love of My Life' is my least favourite with a strong 5/10, and 'Ritual' would be a light 7/10 from me! The debuts that were cut from 'No.6' would all range from a 10/10 to an 8/10 as well.
I'm pretty sad that 'Antisocial' wasn't able to make Ed's Top 3 to be able to chart, despite being an official single, though. I'd say that it's my favourite track from 'No.6', and it's already my https://urlzs.com/mqnnb! The album's doing extremely well for me as well, already becoming my https://urlzs.com/XNoGc as well.
Next week I hope some of Ed's new tracks can do well enough to debut, but if that doesn't happen it seems like 'How Do You Sleep?' would be the only reasonably big debut. This was a fairly quiet week in terms of new releases.

I've been following the charts for years and agree that the singles
chart has become a mess unfortunately. I think maybe it would be better
to revert the chart to show the actual official singles only be it
download, streaming or physical sales all included. There would be no
reason not to keep "a" combined chart for all of the other tracks to
show seperately. I'd also want to see them backdated officially to when
all this "mess" started.

I bet it charts high in the Sales Chart. That's ahere you'll find the more established artists. Sometimes you'll see a track in the Top 30 sales and it isn't even in the Top 100

Yeah, Ed himself said that this album was done more for the music he wanted to make rather than a deliberate commercial success, so the fact that it's manage to open at #1 in almost every country is still impressive. I do think his next studio album will do a little better, but probably only between 200-300k combined sales.
'So High' is one the best British urban songs in the entire chart now, while 'Ladbroke Grove' is okay (I'd probably upgrade it to a 6/10 now) but I'd have been much happier if 'Butterflies' became this big instead.
I think the issue with 'I Don't Care' dropping out this week is what ultimately caused the OCC to reconsider the ACR rule & change how much a song needs to increase by to come off it.
Woah... that's crazy about 'Antisocial' being your second most streamed song of the year already, despite only being nine days old! I expect it'll be #1 for a little while yet for you then, since 'South Of The Border' or maybe 'Take Me Back To London' are the only songs that are looking to dethrone it anytime soon.

Having a physical sales chart being the official one in today's musical climate would make no sense at all. For singles, they're almost non-existent, even digital downloads are dying out fast to the point where they're going to shut iTunes down before the end of the year.
Streaming, however, is taking off more than ever, so the chart formula needs to change in order to reflect that. Yes, it is mostly youngsters, but a lot more older listeners are moving to streaming now too & that'll only continue even more in the years to come.

I can definitely see his next album doing around 200k-300k as well, though it is supposed to be an acoustic album, which isn't really the type of album that'd see massive chart success. Yeah, 'Antisocial' is really gaining streams at a very fast rate for me. As well as me just going to listen to the track specifically, I find that a lot of times when I listen to 'No.6' as a whole (which is probably around 40 or more times by now) I stop on 'Antisocial' and just put it on repeat for a little bit before continuing the album! It got 176 streams in its first week, and in the 3 days so far this week it's already gained another 93, putting it only 30 streams behind 'Cross Me' now! I can't even see 'South of the Border' or 'Take Me Back to London' dethroning it, so I think the only thing that could stop it from getting a mammoth run at #1 on my charts is if a track from NF's 'The Search' (most likely 'Time') can manage it the chart after next!
