So happy that Sweet But Psycho has moved up to #6, this deserves to go to #1 and I think it will in the next few weeks. Shallow is also really good and it’s nice to see 1999 reaching a new peak of #13.

My thoughts & observations on the UK charts as always…
- Massive streaming numbers for 'Thank U, Next' keep Ariana Grande at #1 on the singles chart for a fourth consecutive week.
- ‘Baby’ by Clean Bandit ft Marina & Luis Fonsi is the new #1 on the airplay chart.
- ‘Girls Like You’ by Maroon 5 ft Cardi B continues its unstoppable run at #1 on the YouTube chart, down 2.8 percent this week to 1.83 million views!
- DIGDAT FT K TRAP, KREPT & KONAN – AIR FORCE (#20)
I certainly didn’t expect to see this here! I mean, I was aware that it was lurking around the lower part of the Top 100 for a few weeks now, so I must’ve missed something for this to get a big of a boost as it did! Sadly, despite me defending grime music a lot more than usual recently, there’s just not a lot here to praise. Yeah, these are three artists who are following similar lanes in hip-hop right now so getting them all together for a remix might’ve been a good idea on paper, except that this has more hype than musical qualities. As MCs, I can kind of give a pass to DigDat in that respect thanks to some interesting flows & ad-libs, but what knocks this for me is that the hook is way too short & the verses are far too long, along with some weird wordplay choices & going off-topic multiple times. Unfortunately, not even the production can save this from being mediocre as a whole, because it’s just too boring for me to have any desire to come back to. Strong 4/10.
- 6IX9INE FT TORY LANEZ – KIKA (#38)
Why exactly are we letting this guy chart another song over here? All I’ve heard him do in most of his songs so far is piercingly scream lyrics to cover up the fact that he’s a mostly incompetent rapper & somehow, this is even worse than ‘FEFE’! At least in that song, he made an attempt to try to find a consistent flow & the production from Murda Beatz wasn’t terrible, whereas this just adds to the endless list of trap songs to rely on either a tropical beat or handclaps & while Tory Lanez’s hook is catchy, 6ix9ine’s vocals are a massive disappointment, with so much content about bragging & a ton of repeated or flubbed rhymes. Unfortunately, looking at the streaming figures for this (especially on Spotify) this’ll probably wind up gaining big next week… urgh! Light 3/10.
- On the albums chart, ‘Odyssey’ becomes Take That’s eighth #1! It debuted with over 100,000 combined sales this week (94% of which were physical copies), which makes it the fastest selling artist album of 2018 so far.
- The rest of the Top 5 is: ‘Love’ by Michael Bublé (1-2), ‘The Greatest Showman’ [Soundtrack] (4-3), ‘Rise Up’ by Cliff Richard (debuts at #4) & ‘LM5’ by Little Mix (3-5).
- Looking ahead to next week, these songs could enter the Top 40 for the first time: ‘Nothing Breaks Like A Heart’ by Mark Ronson ft Miley Cyrus, ‘Piano Man’ by Tom Odell, ‘Come Out & Play’ by Billie Eilish, ‘No Drama’ by James Hype ft Craig David, ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas?’ by The Fire One & two or three 6iz9ine tracks & maybe even more.
- Thanks for reading everyone! I hope you all have a good weekend. :)
