"UK chart changes: Video streams added. Premium streaming (both audio and video) ratio is now 100 streams = 1 sale. Free streaming ratio is now 600 streams = 1 sale. Starting June 29. Unofficial and user-generated videos featuring music will not be counted. None of these changes impact the albums chart".

0ne kiss is yet the most sold single. The new rules of this chart are a fraud for the artists.
candog75
Err no. Whilst one kiss was the most streamed track last week it was only ranked seventh on the Sales charts. And even if this track hadn’t been in ACR it still wouldn’t have been No 1.
Anyway new chart rules are being introduced on Monday. I don’t know the details but it’s heavily rumoured that You Tube plays will be included for the first time.
etin
will youtube plays add? so it means it will be more awful
Spaceman
It might hurt the performance of urban songs. https://kworb.net/youtube/insights/uk_stats.html As it turns out, dance-pop dominates on YT.

Ted
It won't though? That's streams of all time, which will obviously mainly have the biggest songs from the past few years like See You Again and Despacito. If you take a look at the weekly charts, there is quite a bit of urban doing very well, with songs like Oh My, Forrest Gump and Man Don't Dance far outpeaking their chart position here.

Exactly, pop music dominates on the all-time chart. Urban has been doing well on the singles chart for years now, but it hasn't been doing as well on YouTube. Only 5 hip hop tracks in the top 40.
According to your link, No Tears Left to Cry and Girls Like You would've hit #1 thanks to YT. Can't say the same for those urban songs way down.

My thoughts & observations on the UK charts as always…
- ‘Solo’ by Clean Bandit ft Demi Lovato rises to the top of the singles chart. It’s the fourth #1 single for the former act & the first for the latter artist.
- ‘No Tears Left To Cry’ by Ariana Grande is #1 on the airplay chart for a second consecutive week.
- There were only three new songs entering the Top 40 today, with the highest of them being ‘Bed’ by Nicki Minaj ft Ariana Grande, debuting at #20. So the past two times these pop divas have collaborated, I’ve been impressed with the results. I haven’t heard their new song called ‘The Light Is Coming’ just yet, but I still enjoy both ‘Bang Bang’ & ‘Side To Side’, even though both songs were similar in their flirtatious content. Again, ‘Bed’ is very similar lyrically, even giving references to oral $ex in the third verse! That said, for as much as I don’t mind the delivery from either artist, this definitely isn’t going to be the pop smash that those two other hits I mentioned from them will be. I still love Ariana’s raspier upper range in the hook, but Nicki Minaj’s flow is a way more basic than usual despite still carrying some charisma & attitude. The biggest differences from the previous times they’ve teamed up his how there’s more of a groove present here, mostly thanks to that bouncy tropical beat. Overall. It’s still fun enough for me to call it good, but it just lacks the intensity across the board to take into greatness.
- Re-entering the chart today at #33 & becoming his fourth Top 40 appearance is ‘Changes’ by XXXTENTACION, following the shocking news of his tragic death this past Monday, having been shot in Florida just aged 20. Here’s the thing, I don’t deny that this rapper’s behaviour was extremely controversial & in some cases, very hard to forgive at all, but absolutely nobody deserves to die the way he did. Thankfully, ‘Changes’ is definitely one of his better songs. Yeah, the sustained piano line is really the only thing noteworthy about the production, which makes the instrumentation more forgettable than necessarily bad, but this is easily the most emotion I’ve heard him put into his vocals, where he appears upset about the changes this girl he likes is making & I honestly think XXXTENTACION’s music fitted better in this softer emo lane rather than all the trap rap he did (‘Look At Me!’ didn’t chart here, but it’s easily one of my least favourite songs of the decade, it’s that bad!). This might be my least favourite of the three new arrivals this week, but relative to the rest of his ‘?’ album, I’d rather have this break into the Top 40 than most other tracks from it, but regardless of my opinion on this song, my thoughts & prayers are with his family & friends at this tough time.
- The last new arrival of the week is ‘Jackie Chan’ by Tiesto & Dzeko ft Preme & Post Malone. Which lifts 61-39 on its fifth week in the chart. I’ve noticed that EDM/hip-hop crossovers have become increasingly popular in 2018, as recent club music has relied a lot more on heavy bass & trap beats. That said, this has led to very polarising results for me, but thankfully, ‘Jackie Chan’ is one of the better examples of blending these two genres. I think a big part of this is how fitting Post Malone’s vocals work over the summery production, which features a warm guitar riff & an uplifting drop. This kind of energy can kind of balance out the ridiculous lyrics, which seem to discuss a girl who’s young & loves to party with her friends with certain luxuries, along with a couple of irrelevant lines from Post Malone, like ordering sushi from Japan which has nothing to do with the rest of the song. That said, as it is, I can see a lot of people finding this a lot of fun & being a fan of both Tiesto & Post Malone, I don’t mind seeing this reach the Top 40 at all, this is good stuff!
- On the albums chart, ‘The Greatest Showman’ is #1 for a 20th non-consecutive, becoming only the twelfth album ever to do so. It has reached 911,000 combined sales in the UK since its release & I could see it passing one million copies by the start of next month.
- The rest of the Top 5 this week is: ‘Staying At Tamara’s’ by George Ezra (stationary at #2), ‘Youngblood’ by 5 Seconds Of Summer (debuts at #3), The Beach Boys with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (stationary at #4) & ‘Everything Is Love’ by The Carters [Beyoncé & Jay-Z] (debuts at #5).
- Looking ahead to next week, these songs could enter the Top 40 for the first time: ‘Only You’ by Cheat Codes & Little Mix, ‘You Deserve Better’ by James Arthur, ‘Let Me Live’ by Rudimental & Major Lazer ft Anne-Marie & Mr Eazi, ‘Taste’ by Tyga ft Offset, 'Fine Girl' by ZieZie, 'The Light Is Coming' by Ariana Grande ft Nicki Minaj, a couple more XXXTENTACION songs & maybe even more.
- Thanks for reading everyone! I hope you all have a good weekend. :)

Hey Piran! Sorry I haven't been commenting on the charts much recently, they really aren't that interesting at the moment! This week was no different, but the next few should be much better as we've got the NHS Choir charity single and Drake's album coming- and YouTube streams are supposedly being added as of next Monday!
Anyway, Solo at #1 is fine, I do love Clean Bandit but I haven't really found this one to be quite as enjoyable as their previous songs. I'm not much of a fan of the vocal effects in the hook! I do rather this would have a 2nd week at #1 than Shotgun though, it's nowhere near as good as Paradise in my opinion but does look like it has a shot at the top now it's been discounted on iTunes.
As for new entries this week, I do like seeing Changes and Jackie Chan now in the Top 40, and Bed is okay but really not that noteworthy to me. It's listenable, but very downbeat and after quite a few listens all I can really remember is Ariana's chorus. It's a shame this has outpeaked Chun-Li too, it's one of my favourite rap songs of the year so far!
I also love seeing the rises for Rise and Lucid Dreams, and If You're Over Me going Top 10 is great too! I was worried this era would flop for Years & Years, but it's nice to see they've gotten a hit out of it after Sanctify stalled outside the Top 20. I do prefer Sanctify out of the two, but Palo Santo is looking to be great. They just released the title track, and although it probably won't chart, it's really good!
Looking to next week, I'd like to see Only You, Let Me Live, Taste, and maybe Jocelyn Flores enter the Top 40. The latter was my favourite XXXTentacion song, and is probably the one most people associate him with. The sample of I'm Closing My Eyes works so well, and X's verse and lyrics are easily the best he's ever made. It won't stay in the charts much longer, but would be a great final tribute to him for me.

Hey Ted! :)
That's fine, I completely agree, which is why my reviews have been a little shorter than usual in recent weeks.
I think if it weren't for the new chart rules, Drake could have most or all of his tracks from 'Scorpion'. Hopefully the NHS Choir Charity single can top the sales chart, but it'll struggle on streaming, which is making me think it'll get a Top 10 debut, but even that's good for 2018 standards.
I have mixed thoughts on YouTube being added; on one hand, it is a very popular streaming service & it'll give pop more of a boost, but at the same, free streams could count as much as paid ones which doesn't seem very fair. At least airplay is not being added to the formula though.
'Solo' is actually my least favourite of Clean Bandit's four #1s, but I still think it's a really good song & I'm happy it finally allowed Demi Lovato to reach the top of the charts!
'Shotgun' might pass 'Solo' on sales, but I don't think it's there on streaming yet. Also, looking at its Spotify numbers, I think there's a strong chance of 'Sad!' climbing a lot next week. I don't know about Top 10, but Top 20 is looking very possible currently.
I'm happy for most of those other songs you mentioned too, except 'Lucid Dreams', which is just so boring to me & Juice WRLD isn't a very good rapper in my opinion.
Yeah, XXXTENTACION did write a few songs about suicidal thoughts & I agree that 'Jocelyn Flores' is one of the better examples of his songwriting.
'Only You' & 'Taste' seem really likely for the Top 40, but I'm less confident the other two will get there. Of those two songs I mentioned, I think I could have the former on repeat soon, although I wasn't massive fan of the vocal loop over the hook. The latter didn't impress me all that much sadly.

YouTube streams won't impact the chart that much at all- I'm not sure, but with the ratio taken into account, most of the Top 10 YouTube songs will have 6,000+ sales- don't quote me on that as I'm not an expert for sure, but that's what I worked out. These new rules will just make the charts even harder to predict, unfortunately!
The NHS Choir single could potentially go to #1 off of massive downloads- there's nothing stopping it getting 30,000+ pure sales from it, and with sales so low at the moment, even if the Spotify and YouTube numbers are good, it could end up being pretty close!
I would be fine with a Top 10 peak for it, more money and support for the NHS in times like this is always great, but to be really honest I'm not happy they're covering A Little Help From My Friends, as it's been done to death. It would've been amazing if they could've written a new song for it, if they had I think it would be much better remembered than it's going to end up being.
