hey what's up mates...i totally forgot the new chart will update tomorrow...well here in southern arizona it is HOT! yikes! i'll come up with a new top 10 next wk on my next day off tues. have a great weekend everyone & let me know how the weather is in your area ;)
Piran
Can you send us some of the hot weather please? 😅
Revan
This may well be the last time i will comment. There are one or 2 people here who have bullied and ostracized me from the start. I have been listening to this charts for more than 20 years, so it's a shame people can't accept me into the community. The problem is, most people here are kids who can't take a difference of opinion and get all wound up about it, to the point where they start projecting and name calling. I will still listen to the charts, but i want the people who are responsible to understand their words can have consequence, people can have all kinds of issues going on in their lives and a little bullying and name calling, while not a big issue to most, can have a dire effect on someone. I know i have offended the odd person here and for that i am sorry, but remember, offense is taken, not given. If you have a difference of opinion, simply disagree and move on, there is no need for toxicity. You wouldn't act like that in person, don't do it online. To those who have been nice and mature about in their replies, thank you, to those who haven't, i will not give you a second thought, instead i will leave it in the hands of the chart show to deal with. I will repost this on friday, as my final post to say farewell to those who give a c**p
THIERRY
You should not think about the bullies out there my friend...life is too short for that..i know what you mean by your comments... i was as well bullied when i first started making comments about LIZZO on the website a few years ago...but i didn't care and just moved on....take care of yourself my friend and if i was you, i will carry on making comments on this website if you want to! you have an opinion about something, feel free to write what you want my friend...it is your right!!
Sunshine Gal
i just gotta say, your comment now is what you wanted to write, correct? ok, so what's so bad about people posting their top 10 lists or what they want to see happen or not happen on the chart? again, free speech applies to everyone. just saying!
S
Starling
everyones hating on me downvoting me for saying sprinter is bad ow can you downvote me? its been no.1 for the past 9 weeks guys! how do you still want it there
Foxes
because if it gets 1 more week it becomes the first rap song ever to reach 10 weeks at #1. that's a massive achievement, and obviously fans of the genre and fans of dave are going to want to see it happen.
Revan
I upvoted it. Sprinter is terrible and should never have got to the top in the first place. Kids will follow other kids. I wouldn't worry about how many votes you get, it's not like one or 2 votes up or down is relevant in the scheme of things, when there's 8 billion people in the world. There are several kids on here that like the song though, so i guess that's why.
THIERRY
I do agree with you ! SPRINTER is awful!! the worst number 1 single we had in months!!
Sunshine Gal
hey what's up mates! how's everyone's wk going? well on the billboard hot 100, quite a few country acts dominating the top 10, esp. the top 5. takes me back to when shania twain's 'you're still the one' would be locked @ #2 spot for about 9 wks. straight. first time i ever heard of her & she was already this huge country artist.
here's my top 10 for now:
1. buddy holly/that'll be the day
2. the mamas & papas/california dreamin'
3. ed sheeran/shivers
4. sam hunt/body like a back road
5. britney/drop dead beautiful
6. the pointer sisters/jump (for my love)
7. creed/arms wide open
8. justin timberlake/nothin' else
9. johnny hates jazz/shattered dreams
10. madonna/future lovers
also, i highly recommend you all check out buddy holly's & the mamas & papa's music. buddy holly passed away in 1959 BUT, he was a rock & roll innovator and a huge influence on future artists like the beatles & elton john. john & paul once went to a buddy holly concert in london or liverpool *can't recall the city* when they both were teenagers. his song 'that'll be the day' is a perfect example of putting guitar licks in a song that would be standard for the beatles & rolling stones.
also the mamas & the papas are an iconic group from the psychadellic era and like a hippie version of abba. they're the act in my icon pic. check out 'monday, monday', 'straight shooter' and 'california dreamin'.
T
TheLoverman
I love this flashback!!! all your top 10 is wonderful, but #s 1, 2, 6, 7, 9, & 10... Wow!! Thanks for making us recall this extraordinary bands, soloists, and their magical music!!
Sunshine Gal
hey thanks mate! i'm off work this thurs and i'll try and come back with some more throwbacks. i was a longtime hot 100 chart fan starting when michael jackson was #1 with black or white...so i've seen a lot of cool top 10's. :))))) don't know if you're in the uk? if so i'll come up with past u.s. acts you might not have heard of ;)
& fun fact: paul mccartney owns all of buddy holly's music & john lennon even did remakes of some of buddy's songs. elvis was more of a mover & a shaker & buddy holly was more of a rock musician.
Sunshine Gal
& def. lemme know if you have any requests of past u.s. artists and even uk artists who might have been big here. or i can do a mix of past throwbacks.

Chart Review 04/08/2023
Who needs No.52? The OCC sure don't. Anyways, welcome to the chart where for the first time in a few weeks, ahem...
NOTHING HAS HAPPENED.
Except the fact that SOME stuff has happened, but that kinda messes with the script a little. Anyways, Sprinter is at the top for 9 weeks now and I would officially like to stop existing, thank you. Seriously, just go on ACR already and leave us all alone. Unless you're Ed Sheeran, you physically can't just go on a limb and not be challenged at all. Give somebody else a go, for my sanity's sake.
I could just copy and paste what I said about the Barbie tracks last week, because they ain't going away. O-Rod suffers from not being on the soundtrack and tumbles to 5 (discuss), whilst Billie, Dua, Nicki and Spice all trudge up a spot to leave us all with a mental dilemma. Which one will top the charts in upcoming weeks. Probably Ms. Eilish, 'cause she's streaming champ. I would prefer it if Dua Lipa took top spot instead though.
Charli XCX, meanwhile, can officially start celebrating with her mates as Speed Drive motors (geddit?) up to 9th position. Great for you, but not for me. I'm probably one of the few people on planet Earth not to have seen the Barbie movie, which, given it's an actually GREAT movie, leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. I also have to edit what I said about I'm Just Ken last week as well, as I should've commented on the fact it sounds like every 80s power ballad ever, rather than, say, every 90s power ballad ever. But that's just me, I'spose.
In other news, everybody hates Travis Scott, but given he has a No.1 album this week, I assume that means everyone outside his fanbase. Which is huge. UTOPIA slams its way to the summit to give him a first chart-topping collection, and I am somewhat relieved that it didn't go to Anne-Marie in the end. Turns out posing like a pig on your album cover doesn't get you places. Who would've figured. Post Malone is at No.3, and that is that. For the album chart.
In the singles chart, Travis Scott now has another Top 10 hit, in the form of MELTDOWN, which is generic rap, has Drake on it, so you knew it would be successful, and hasn't tipped into oblivion like the other tracks on the album. Doesn't means it's good (5/10). This is followed by FE!N at 13 (5.1/10), and HYAENA at 21 (7/10), which deserves its high rating because it doesn't really 'sound' like Travis Scott. But then again, this is the guy who made SICKO MODE. So who am I complaining.
Down at 18, we ask the following question. Can Calvin Harris make a derivative record? The jury is still out on that one, suffice to say that Desire is new in the Top 20 this week, features Sam Smith, who appeared on Promises, so you knew it'd do well, and sounds a bit too much like Miracle for comfort. Heck, even the lyrics seem a little similar. Or maybe that's just my cynisism of dance music seeping through. I really can't tell.
Stormzy & RAYE fall 11 places, so clearly The Weekend could've done with a bit more work, Kylie is on ACR now, so that , and Chemical seeps its way back into the 40 because, erm, Post Malone wanted it to? Just a thought. Drake & Central Cee clatter their way to 26 with the snappily titled On The Radar Freestyle (5/10), which is so boring I can't be bothered talking about it. This is the 2nd time a CC freestyle has barged its way onto Radio 1's show, following LA Leakers Freestyle back in September. Jealous? I'm not.
In other news, Sinead's most famous hit sneaks up 15 to reach the 40, although given she's been absent from the Earth committee for a couple weeks now, her chances may be limited. And at 31, a relic of the early-2010s era of dance music strikes back, in the form of Chase & Status, best known for their Top 5 demolishers, Blind Faith, and Lost & Not Found. Their new hit, Baddadan, involves them grabbing Bou, Flowdan, and every dang MC in Britain for what is, in the grand scheme of things, just an average song (5/10).
Also in the charts this week, Burna Boy and Arrdee have had better days, as Big 7 and One Direction both get caught out by the cynical public, and miss out on the Top 40. Down at 65, a first chart hit for Issey Cross, who popped on Wilkinson's Used To This last year, and will be lucky to come up with ANY original ideas by the end of the year. But to conclude on a high note, I must congratulate Aphex Twin for reaching No.79 with Blackbox Life Recorder 21f. It's his first chart hit for 24 years, and as a fan of SOME of his work, I was really hoping he could deliver on his Top 40 placement in the midweeks. Naturally, this hasn't happened, but I'm glad he's here. Imagine if he was No.1. The whole world would probably cave in.
And that is that. Ta ta, and close the door on your way out.
(P.S. During my research, the only Top 40 hit I can think of that isn't listed on this website is Bad by David Guetta. Released in 2014, it peaked at No.23. But it seems the OCC hate that song, so yeah. Oh, and No.52 is Enough Is Enough from Post Malone's new album. There ya go.)
D

Love your review week after week mate!!! Agree on everything especially that Kylie is already on ACR. Padam is still a mega hit

Nice to see a bit of Metro and Stormzy here, tho Im excited for ur chart next week! :)
Piran
Still very happy that 'Psychedelic Switch' and 'Lovergirl' both debuted in the Top 10! 😊
Sunshine Gal
hey what's up mate...still trying to get used to this new layout...i have my weekend off right now, so i'll be back later today & tomorrow.
Piran
Hey! How you doing? 😊
I'm off work until the 15th now, so will be more free during the week for now. :)
Sunshine Gal
hey mate, do you know who miles taylor is? he worked in the trump admin. and just put out this sensational new book called 'blowback'. i've been reading it all weekend, hard to put down! he recently got interviewed by the bbc. i even messaged him on twitter suggesting he do a live town hall on msnbc or cnn & he was gracious enough to respond and thanked me for my suggestion.
well i'm off this thurs, i have a dr. appt. so i'll try & be on here for some more throwbacks. & i really am sorry about sinead o'connor passing away...but again, when she ripped up the picture of the pope on snl & said 'fight the real enemy'...that was it. she said NOTHING about child abuse amongst catholic priests. THAT'S what got her banned on snl. she waited about a wk later to explain, BUT she was on live tv when she did that. she had plenty of time to clarify why she did that. but yeah i saw that episode live and shocked the heck out of me! her single 'nothing compares to you' was very big over here and it was written by prince.
macie
Rave Out top 75 and Bittersweet Goodbye getting a decently high debut are amazing to see! Hopefully both can go top 40 soon :)
macie
good to see Chemical back in the top 40, however I wish Enough Is Enough was able to get there as it was my favourite from the album
Geff
does anyone know what no 52 is ?
Piran
'Enough by Enough' by Post Malone.
Revan
I want to give my 2 cents; i can't understand why people post their personal charts here, like, who cares, what purpose does it have, are people just egocentric or is there another reason. This is rhetorical btw.
macie
Because we want to share our music tastes?? We’ve been posting them LONG before you started commenting so if you don’t like them, don’t comment
Piran
"i can't understand why people post their personal charts here, like, who cares"... clearly multiple regulars every week do! 😭
Revan
@jadeheartgoes; You can give opinions without laying them out in a chart, the 2 aren't mutually exclusive. I have no issue with it, i just don't see the point, it doesn't make a difference to anything. I just feels like a method of inflating ego instead of accepting a single persons taste is music is not that important. That's not a personal thing, it's just a fact. If people want to read it, fair enough, but it still makes no difference to anything, that's all im saying.
As for this: "We’ve been posting them LONG before you started commenting"... I've been listening to the charts probably longer than you've been alive kiddo, so don't come at me with the nonsense. My point is still relevant and i am as entitled to post as you are, don't be such a snowflake
Piran
Replies like this are exactly why OCC need to bring back the block button...
The only people who being snowflakes are those who have problems with commenters simply expressing their music taste by sharing their favourite songs of their week.
macie
I’m the snowflake? You’re the one offended over people sharing their music tastes in their own charts 😭😭 I’ve not seen this level of stupidity since Frank Griffin plagued this site 💀
itsnoodleszn_
1) to see how much our tastes differ from the actual chart (in my case, quite a lot)
2) to share our favourite songs of the week. it’s nothing more than a personal playlist
there’s probably more reasons i’m forgetting. regardless, just because you can’t relate doesn’t mean you can go sh*t on others just for sharing songs they love. and it’s not egotistical at all, where are you getting that from
D
damian
It's easy, do not read them

well people like to give their recommendations to other music fans on what to check out. i myself am always asking uk fans of any uk acts i should check out that i may not know of. i reciprocate that by recommending u.s. acts a lot of you may not be familiar with. & if i have questions on uk acts i might be a fan of like flo.
Revan
Well, this will be the last time i am commenting as people here are wayyy to easily offended by a simple comment. I never said i cared about people posting their views, i can indeed just ignore it. I was instead simply saying i didn't understand WHY they did it, all it required was a mature reposnse. Seems like there's mostly only kids commenting here who can't formulate a mature, logical response, only insulting people, so to reiterate, i am leaving from this toxic community to get on with my life. Maybe others should do the same
Revan
I'm surprised Jason Derulo's new song didn't chart, whatever happened to him, he used to be so popular
Revan
Sad to see Olivia dropping, i was hoping sh'ed get to the top at some point.
On a different note, i'm surprised Sam + Calvin didn't chart higher, my guess is because of the bad press Sam Smith has been getting of late, which is a shame as it doesn't relate to his music.

No, he wasn't! 💀

I'm sorry but i refuse to call people 'they' or 'them', they are plural terms. I have no problem with trans or non-binary people, but i stuck to the original definition of word. It was not a personal comment, if anything i was defending Sam. It's just a word, it doesn't reflect what i think or how i treat people. I do think Sam is a bit Egotistic, but that has nothing to do with his Gender + gender has no relevance to my comment not his music. Hope this clarifies things
Piran
You clearly do have a problem with trans or non-binary people if you're not respecting their preferred pronouns lmao.
macie
you are genuinely one of the stupidest people alive I can’t 😭💀
P
pressy
you don't understand basic grammar. instead of being ashamed of this ignorance however, you go around parading it as if it is divinely inspired wisdom, and then in the same breath call others egotistical!
hope this clarifies things
itsnoodleszn_
oh dear! let a trans girl explain this to you.
if you’re talking about someone who’s anonymous (meaning you won’t know their pronouns), you use they. in sam’s case, if you’re referring to a non-binary person, you use they. it is not plural unless you’re referring to a group of people. it’s basic grammar and you should know that by now. have a good sunday in your mums basement.
Revan
Wow. Now you're resorting to calling me stupid for refusing to use someone elses pronouns. Why are you getting so wound up getting offended on someone elses behalf. I clearly stated i have no problem with trans people or non-binary people. How i choose to use a word is none of your business. Just like you have said to me, if you don't like it, don't read it or comment, it's that simple. Here's an analogy.... If i want to call a cheese sandwich a pickle sandwich, i am wrong as per the dictionary, but so what, it doesn't mean i hate cheese. Also dictionaries are descriptive, not prescriptive. If people don't like how i word things, how is that my problem. I think this will be the last time i will comment here, as this community is full of toxic kids that don't understand how to construct an argument or even coherent comments. All because people are offended on Sam Smith's behalf. Like, get a life. There's bigger problems in the world

#52 is 'Enough Is Enough' by Post Malone.

Oh yes😂. I read this before looking at what had happened and I just thought some random song had appeared there but there's no song at all. Well at least it means you can use your imagination to what's there. I think after 2 years 'When you're out' has finally made it's debut.
Edit: Just seen the edit unfortunately I will have to wait another week for Billented to come
Piran
'When You're Out' would've been an even better choice for #52 lol.
'Enough Is Enough' is still very good though!

After spending all this effort to revamp the charts' look they still managed to NOT print position 52. :(

incredibly slay top 2 albums, great performance for both on singles as well and loving dial drunk at #17
Piran
Even if he fell off a lot during the week, congratulations to Aphex Twin on his first charting single this century!
Piran
Very happy about ‘Chemical’ getting a last-minute reset for Post Malone, but shame that ‘Dial Drunk’ is already gone! 😩
Not heard ‘Utopia’ yet, but all three Travis tracks that charted get a pass from me, so will definitely be checking it out within the next week. :)

The double album bomb for Travis and Post is amazing to see!
Piran
‘The Weekend’ is heading the wrong direction. :/
Oh well, at least it survived another week in the Top 40, and second week drops like this aren’t uncommon. Hopefully it can rebound a lot in the weeks ahead! 🤞
Piran
Very happy to see ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ move into the Top 40.
Even if Sinéad’s passing is incredibly sad news, it’s at least good to see her getting a ton of tributes! ❤️
Piran
Delighted to see Billie in the runner-up position!
I unfortunately don’t think ‘What Was I Made For?’ is going all the way to the top, but I’m still ecstatic that it’s doing this well.
Also congratulations to Charli on her first solo Top 10 hit in nine years! 😁
Foxes
why would What Was I Made For not go #1 lol Sprinter's only got 1 more week at #1 before it goes to ACR and Billie track doesn't seem like its slowing down. I mean personally I think it's absolutely dreadful lol but it seems like a shoe-in for #1 in 2 weeks
Piran
Omg how did I forget about ACR? 😩
'Sprinter' had an incredible run to get nine, potentially ten weeks at the top though.
Foxes
Sprinter's on ACR the week after next yeah, unless it can increase next week
