Can anyone advise as to how I can actually see the top 100, whatever I do it never opens up to view. Anyone that can advise as to what you have to do to view it?

Are you on desktop or mobile?

I never had issues with the former, but I clicked on "View as list" for the latter and it became much easier to read! 😊

Wish the new Dean and Julia Michaels track had charted. Also the fact that Olivia didn't get to #1 this week but that terrible Dave track is still there is a travesty

before streaming came along, the hot 100 chart was beyond addicting to follow!  the top 10 would have so much diversity & artists and producers, songwriters really worked hard to make top quality music....so for this top 10 we're gonna go back to the hot 100 this wk in 1998, FUN year to be following the billboard charts!  billboard didn't allow commenting yet *around 2007* but you could access all the charts for free.  i even used to check out the bubbling under hot 100 chart.

for this wk brandy & monica's huge #1 smash 'the boy is mine' is locked @ the #1 spot...i remember that being #1 for something like 11 straight wks.  mariah's 'my all' & madonna's 'ray of light' would also be in the top 10.  the backstreet boys 'everybody' is @ #10...them & tlc are my all time fave groups on the hot 100 chart.  they both had hit after hit throughout the 90s and bsb would have hits in the 2000s. the previous year, 1997 if my VERY fave year being a hot 100 fan...the backstreet boys had huge hit after huge hit...let's just say i was a lil' obsessed with them :D

so i take it we can now post up links?  if so great :)  gonna take everyone back 20 yrs this same wk in the states to the hot 100 top 10 for the wk of 7/12/2003.  beyonce would have the #1 song with 'crazy in love' off her debut album 'dangerously in love'.  GREAT album!  she had big hit after big hit during this year.  i recall her & 50 cent dominating the hot 100 top 10 all that year.  https://www.billboard.com/charts/hot-100/2003-07-12/

are they still a group though?  see, i posted on billboard for our 1D mates to follow justin timberlake's example on how he managed his public and private lives...1 guy did actually post to me ;).  i'm fully convinced i chatted with niall...this 'huge' 1D fan, who was a guy had all these questions for me about jt and wanted to hear all my ideas & advice for the group.  i told him & them, 10-15 yrs will fly by very fast...gotta make the best of it.

yeah don't know how it is in the uk, but over here...it's very HARD to keep a music career going year after year, decade after decade.  here in the states there's too much competition so when you're hot & have a decent fanbase...you gotta keep those fans liking you as much as possible.

hey mate, gonna have a quick breakfast it's 7:42 am here..i'll be back within the next hour if you're on...if not, i'll post up some lists & comments when i come back...glad to chat with you as always....we've been friends on disqus for 7 yrs right?

really dislike this new website!! the layout is just awful ...it was so easy in the past to leave comments or to reply to other comments: so difficult now...furthermore we can no longer choose to read the oldest or newest comments as this option has been removed!! the only good thing i like is being able to listen to each song on the chart..why did the OC has to replace their website when it was great at the first place!!?? and everytime we leave the webpage we have to log back in again...time consuming!

This happens a lot.

It's because when a song from the old era of the chart invades the Top 100, like Elton John, the OCC have 'little problems' compiling all this information together, and that's why the peak is not as high as it should be.

Some of my fav artists are climbing the chart this week..yippee!!:

PEGGY YOU getting a new peak....and claiming her first Top 10...

MADONNA having a blast with POPULAR up 1 place this week: so happy for her!!

TOM GRENNAN getting a new Top 20 under his belt...

CLOSER up again this week and hopefully making the Top 40 next week...

CHARLI XCX debuting at number 61: should have been much higher but hopefully next week or when BARBIE is out...

FAST CAR up 9 places and remaining at number 2 in the US!!

Chart Review 07/07/2023

Alright let's get this over with.

Welcome to another (hopefully longer) edition of the annual chart reviews I do now, where logic burns to smithereens, and the songs will NEVER. EVER. LEAVE. This time around, it's more of the same, as expected. Honestly, the day there's like 10 new entries that aren't Christmas related is the day I run for prime minister. Obviously, that's never gonna happen, even though I'd probably do better than the wimps that ARE in charge. A little optimism never killed anyone.

Just 3 new hits which seems par for the course these days, as Dave and Central Cee casually put some lounge chairs up and sip some Coca-Cola, as Sprinter makes it a fifth week at the top. Apparently it ties for the longest running UK rap #1, along with... Dave. Naturally. It's almost like everybody likes Dave, no matter what he does. He's like the Ed Sheeran of UK Rap (which is down 6 to 25, if you were wondering).

This naturally means that everybody has to gasp in horror at the sight of Olivia Rodrigo NOT debuting at No.1 with vampire. Olivia (or O-Rod as I like to call her) is usually mocked for making way too many driver's license clones, which is a bit unfair, but this is what happens in the 2020s. TikTok rules all, so deal with it. Anyways, O-Rod's second album is out in September, and here comes the first huge hit off it. vampire didn't impress me at first (what does), mainly because I barely heard it on the radio (in full anyway), but once I got submerged by all those LAUD DRUMZ near the end, it's slightly grew. Slightly. Still, this is a bit of a disappointment to see O-Rod at No.2. Not even the DREADED PHYSICAL RELEASE was enough to get her there, which is a bit worrying. However, good 4 u debuted at 2 before powering past all-comers, so don't lose faith yet folks (6.6/10).

Taylor Swift keeps dragging herself up the chart, with Cruel Summer now at 6. Her attempts to rerecord everything she was ever a part of continues with Speak Now (Taylor's Version), although I'm just waiting for the bit where she remakes her remake albums to REALLY test the average fans patience. As if it wasn't hard enough to get those tour tickets.

Meanwhile at 10, the world shrieks and snoozes in equal measure as D-Block Europe get what is only their 3rd Top 10 hit with Pakistan, out of 25 top 40 showings. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to guess what THIS one sounds like, as you can predict the Young Adz-Lamborghini-girlfriend-alcohol malarkey before they happen. Their album DBE World also dropped today. What do you mean you didn't notice? (3.2/10)

Oh, and after what feels like forever (5 weeks, actually, which isn't that long), British producer and lame dance DJ of the Joel Corry variety D.O.D. crawls his way to 38 with So Much In Love. He is best known for Still Sleepless which spent, oh, I don't know, TWENTY-ONE WEEKS in the charts and didn't get higher than 46. So at lest he's trying I suppose. Doesn't mean the song is any good (4.8/10).

Over on thy album chart, thou shalt honour indie group Nothing But Thieves, whose previous showings are 7, 2, and 3, but now have a 1 to add to this collection, in the form of Dead Club City. They're from Southend-on-Sea don't cha know. Stuck playing the roles of "we are also in the top 10, but will hopefully not be in the top 100 next week" are Olivia Dean with her debut album Messy, Lil Uzi Vert, whose new collection is called Pink Tape, and Fontaines D.C. lead singer Grian Chatten whose solo album goes by the name Chaos for the Fly. You won't buy any of these next week, obviously, but they are here for you to mingle with.

In the top 100 singles chart stakes, and ANOTR STILL CAN'T BUY A TOP 40 PLACING TO SAVE HIS LIFE, and Fall Out Boy stumble to 52 on the chart with their "timely" cover of Billy Joel's We Didn't Start The Fire. Naturally. First band I think of. I would've loved it if they cracked the 40 but nope! Guess I'll have to cry in my 2007 merchandise like a true emo instead. Also, the album chart has Japanese House, The Skids, bdrmm, Lucinda Williams, Stone Foundation, Do Nothing, and Jim Bob on it. And yet they'll all be outsold next week by Pitbull's Greatest Hits. Lord have mercy on us.

But yeah, that is that for another week. Hopefully, some stuff will happen the next time I grasp this commenting section in 7 days' time, but for now, I will have to hibernate in my own sorrow. Cheerio.

(P.S. Oh, and The Killers' Mr. Brightside has now spent a total of 369 weeks on the chart. Just wanted to let you know, 'cause it is cool and all.)

(P.P.S. I also forgot to mention Charli XCX messing up with her Barbie soundtrack contribution. But it's not like it matters or anything. And also, SWITCH DISCO ARE OUT THE TOP 10. FINALLY. IT'S LIKE A MIRACLE HAS HAPPENED OR SOMETHING.)

Sprinter ties for longest running UK rap #1 with Ed Sheeran actually lol, with Take Me Back To London. Dave's previous longest running #1 was Starlight with 4 weeks.

You know that feeling you get when you just repeat yourself over and over again?

That's what I'm getting from D.O.D.'s So Much In Love. It's just 'So Much I' copied and pasted. Did something go wrong, or is it for comedic effect?

avatar

Piran

I don't think it's either really...

A lot of EDM tends to be repetitive for catchiness, but I think I like this more because of the production!

'Drivers License': 10/10

'Good 4 U': 10/10

'Vampire': 9/10

hey mate...sorry for my absence i've been working extra shifts and picking up tons of overtime...but decided to have this weekend off.  i have a wk off coming up in 2 wks...you know this new layout on here is kinda weird!  i agree with some of the others, the older layout was so much easier to post and read comments.

Its a good song, the toughest of her career, being her comeback single of a sophomore album. Pretty well debuting at 2

I'm really excited to hear the full album after a really good lead single! 😊

absolutely amazing to see Sprinter holding on to #1 for a 5th week and tying for the longest running UK rap #1 ever, here's to (hopefully) many more weeks lol

I agree, i absolutely hate it. To me Sprinter is just mumbling out of tune. I do like some rap, Eminem, Tupac, Nicki Minaj and Twista are all fantastic rappers, but they all have decent melodies to their songs and they rap in tune. The fact Dave is only at #39 on the sales chart says a lot. Olivia should have got the top spot, oh wel, hopefully next week.

maybes dave’s style of rap isn’t your thing? i’ve been listening to hip-hop for as long as i can remember so i can find a couple of artists that are more your lane. kendrick lamar is my all time favourite artist
