hi coolocelot101..i guess you are not a fan....DON'T SHUT ME DOWN and I STILL HAVE IN FAITH IN YOU are beautiful...JUST A NOTION isn't their best, i have to agree with lot of fans on that one...so i am guessing you won't get VOYAGE when it gets released on the 5th November? Have a great day...

To get very succint: My top 5 out of this jungle of eonic standings: 1) Mimi Webb: 24/5, the perfect voice of Adele and Becky Hill, and she nails it here. 2) Tom Grennan: Don't Break The Heart, solid performance, solid melody and a nice coarse voice 3) Sam Fender: Spit Of You, so warm, heart-felt lyrics, down to earth, beautiful build up melody and even a indie/U2 touch to it, so just a joy 4) Griff: One Night, good arrangement and strong voice, very addictive pace 5) Neiked, Mae Muller, Polo G: Better Days, yes, immediately a good vibe, with nice hook. The charts are now like a slow moving giant ball with 23 songs inside top 30 spending at least 9 weeks or more. The choice I present is in fact to find mostly in the 40's and 50's, but fresher and solid.

How can ABBA's new one only come in at 59?
Something is seriously wrong when the biggest band in the world creeps in at number 59.
Well I will tell you whats wrong, its the fact ABBA fans don't stream, they want the vinyl single.
Then they would easily be number 1,which is why I maintain my belief streaming is farcicle and should never have been allowed to influence chart positions.

avatar

Darryn Wilson

On aside note, they have 3 singles in the top 50 physical chart :)

I sooo agree with you 'bout ABBA and the vinyl stuff, plus the streaming marked influence in the charts... I believe ABBA should be doing much better in the charts... Thou is doing very well elsewhere...

DK

Dave Knight

0

Its basically because streaming is dominating the charts, even the album charts now. So fans of older artists tend to not be into streaming and would actually prefer to buy the physical product, so this alienates certain artists from having hits or the big hits they deserve.
So you see my explanation highlights that streaming steals or denies certain artists from having hits, in this case its ABBA.
Thats why I believe streaming isn't a good measurement of how popular an artist is because ABBA are far more popular than most of the artists in the top 100 today.
Another reason why I dont agree that streaming should be involved in influencing the charts.

Next week is bound to be a strong one with Ed Sheeran releasing a new album. His last main album is was caused the charts to change as every song made it to the top 20 šŸ˜… Iā€™m interested to see what his album will do in sales as there hasnā€™t really been any insane album first week sales these past few years

Sam Fender "Spit Of You" is just not getting any Airplay.
Amazing 89 climbed to 41 down to 42 and now down to 43.
The big question is why isn't Radio Stations playing it.

Hope you are doing fine too! Guess you feel great after visiting France! Speak soon again!

WEEKLY CHART REVIEW (28/10/2021 ā€“ 04/11/2021)

šŸ”“ (Negative)

1) The Top 10 this week has the exact same songs in it as it did last week! The quality of the songs in it arenā€™t precisely bad, but itā€™s also kind of boring to see.

2) ā€˜My Heart Goes [La Di Da]ā€™ misses the Top 10 once again! This mightā€™ve been its final chance with the inevitable takeover from all the ā€˜=ā€™ tracks coming next week.

3) ā€˜Life Goes Onā€™ is still sticking around! I donā€™t get what people can find appealing about this song. The vocals might be among the most grating Iā€™ve heard in a hit song all year!

4) 'Let Somebody Go' suffered a big second week drop! One of the best tracks on Coldplay's new album in my opinion.

5) ā€˜Visiting Hoursā€™ gets placed on ACR as expected! Even despite the album boost next week, itā€™ll probably still drop out of the chart entirely because it wonā€™t be one of the three best performing tracks from ā€˜=ā€™! Such a shame because I donā€™t think itā€™s likely that anything on the album will beat it in terms of quality.

šŸŸ  (Mixed)

1) ā€˜Red Light Green Lightā€™ makes a fairly high debut & letā€™s be honest, while Digga D is certainly a name weā€™ve been seeing in the charts for a while now, the only reason that this is here is because of how popular Squid Game has become (which I donā€™t plan on watching, just not for me personally!). Anyway, after the train wreck that was ā€˜Wastedā€™ from a weeks back, this is certainly a step in the right direction. You can definitely tell that the song is aiming for the dark, eery vibe of the aforementioned series with the heavy drill beat, the tight flow, the aggressive & direct lyrics, all of which Digga D can sell fairly well! If anything, the song can feel a bit choppy in places & some of the ab-libs sound really out of places, but even the autotune isnā€™t a massive problem here either. So yeah, probably nothing Iā€™ll personally be revisiting, but I get the appeal behind this! Iā€™ll take it.

2) ā€˜Just A Notionā€™ missed out on the Top 40! Given the huge drop it took from the First Look to Mondayā€™s update, we all knew this was coming. Even then, for as much as I love ABBA as a group, this is far from their best song & probably my least favourite of the three singles theyā€™ve released since making their recent comeback.

3) 'Better Days' (NEIKED) makes an appearance here, but I'll start to get excited for it if or when it goes Top 40!

šŸŸ¢ (Positive)

1) ā€˜Easy On Meā€™ gets a second week at #1! Again, itā€™s in this section of the review, because, you know, Adele.

2) ā€˜Meet Me At Our Spotā€™ is still moving up! Iā€™m hoping that this can eventually go Top 10, although my expectations for it might be a little high given that it still has a while to go & next month is going to be absolutely manic for albums, but all the big radio stations love it now, so that at least gives me some hope.

3) ā€˜Tell Me Something Goodā€™ continues to climb with it! It can be a very tough sell getting an EDM remake of a 70ā€™s classic to work, especially to older chart fans who grew up with the original classics, but this remix seems to do just that thankfully.

4) ā€˜Moth To A Flameā€™ just about debuts in the Top 40 & this for me is Swedish House Mafiaā€™s real comeback single, after the disappointments that were ā€˜It Gets Betterā€™ & ā€˜Lifetimeā€™ from earlier this year! Granted, I doubt this wouldā€™ve done anywhere near as well or even charted at all without The Weeknd teaming up with them, but you know what, he proves yet again that he sounds in his element on 80ā€™s style production & his vocals continue to have that irresistible smoothness to it, whilst also sounding notably severe & thatā€™s a hard combination to get right in the mainstream nowadays! The drop is actually more relaxing than anything too exciting & you think that might be boring on paper, but it isnā€™t. My only criticism is that the outro couldā€™ve been a little less dragged out, but when the beat has such a uplifting swell & groove behind, that doesnā€™t put me off this one bit! Hopefully it can climb a bit more in the coming weeks. Britain, keep buying & streaming it, we need more smashes like this here!

5) ā€˜24/5ā€™ matches its peak thanks to Mimi Webbā€™s new EP! Honestly, ā€˜Seven Shades Of Heartbreakā€™ is the best EP Iā€™ve heard all year & this track is definitely a highlight from it.

6) ā€˜Seventeen Going Underā€™ not only stayed in the Top 40 this week, but it actually went back up a bit! I expected the hype behind this song to fade with Sam Fenderā€™s new album, but it fortunately looks like that didnā€™t happen.

7) ā€˜Who You Areā€™ also managed to sneak in this week! I had fairly high expectations when arguably one of the most famous garage singers of the century was teaming up with the artist who previously provided the vocals to my favourite song of the decade so far & yeah, this absolutely lived up to them! Look, for Craig David & MNEK, melodies have always been their strong point & they harmonise beautifully in this. I also love how sweet the lyrics are too, where they still see a connection with somebody they admire for their personality, even despite it seems like the whole world is turning against them! The song already hits a very motivational note for me, but it also has that uplifting element to it, especially thanks to the vibrant garage backdrop courtesy of Digital Farm Animals (who isnā€™t officially credited on the song). Either way, Craig David & MNEK have come up with a formula here! I really hope that they can collaborate again in the future if anything they work on is going to reach the same heights that this does. Amazing song!

8) ā€˜Bad Dayā€™ to be dropping off now! Itā€™s in my Top 10 worst songs of the year so far, so good riddance to it, haha.

9) Elton John debuted at #1 on the albums chart, just two weeks after he got the #1 single here!

Positives:
-Meet Me At Our Spot new peak
-Fall for Girls Want Girls
-Boyz out of the top 20
-Drive still cimbing
-24/5 back in top 30
-Elton number one on albums

Mid:
-Easy On Me at number one, decent but not number 1 worthy
-Woman back at 14. It's legendary for being at that position but kinda dead
-If You Really Love Me still around, it's not horrendous but I still don't want it around
-Big drop for Higher Power, which isn't bad cus it's old, but it's still so much better than Life Goes On, Fair Trade and many other songs that it's below

Negatives:
-Huge rise for Tell Me Something Good
-Happier Than Ever still falls
-My Heart Goes didn't hit top 10, but at least Lil Nas is still top 10
-Very low debut for Craig David & MNEK
-Huge rise for Life Goes On
-Alone With You still rising
-Red Light Green Light exists
-Very low debut for Moth To A Flame
