i am guessing MANESKIN brand new single MAMMAMIA won't set the chart on fire! Which is a shame as it is a great song...They have had so much success this year so i really expected to see the single breaking the Top 20 easily but i guess that won't happen as it dropped massively this week!

Am loving WESTLIFE new single STARLIGHT! they still release amazing singles after over 20 years in the business...amazing! Cant believe it stuck at 66 this week! should have made the Top 40 easily!

Hopefully TOM GRENNAN: "DON'T BREAK THE HEART" can make it to the Top 40 soon! Another great song for such a powerful singer! Love all his songs so far!

What about the chart rules? Ed Sheeran should be kicked away from the top 10 already. By the other hand, Charli XcX is out with one of her best singles ever. Hilarious….

Hopefully MIMI WEBB can reach a new peak next week with 24/5 after her 1st LP being released yesterday! She so deserves a Top 5 and still doesn't understood how come GOOD WITHOUT never reached the Top 5!!

I so wanted Elton John to remain at number 1 for at least a few more weeks but after ED ruling the chart we have to deal with another overrated singer by the name of Adele!!

Extremely happy to see some of my favourite artists climbing the charts this week: Becky Hill, so close to get another Top 10: next week hopefully! DOJA CAT after 5 straight weeks at 14 and of course DERMOT KENNEDY getting a 4th Top 20 single!

Question. If Coldplay have one of the biggest selling albums of 2021 after 1 week, why do they only have one song from it in the Singles Top 20 ? Drake managed 3 top ten singles in his first week,but sold less albums-wise.
My brain hurts.

🔴 Negative:
•Easy On Me number 1. Decent song, but it’s rubbish for Adele and Cold Heart and Shivers are so much more deserving.
•Industry Baby and MONTERO both hit ACR. The drop for industry baby is just cruel
•No Time To Die and Bad Day both drop out of the top 40 which , especially when Alone With You and Life Goes On are both in the top 40
🟡 Mixed:
•’Starlight’ didn’t go top 40. It’s a good song, but Westlife have had their time.
•BOYZ drops, and I have a lot of apathy towards this song. It’s a good vibe, but the blackfishing isn’t ok. I hope this hasn’t had too much of an effect on Jesy though. Nicki on this btw
•Let Somebody Go debuts at 24. It’s a bit disappointing for such a star studded collab, but it’s charted pretty fairly
🟢 Positive:
•Better Days climbs into the top 20 which is great, this has really grown on me and I love it
•Drive climbs to hit a new peak, I’m so glad this isn’t just a complete failure
•Meet Me At Our Spot rises. This has also grown on me massively
•Woman breaks its streak at 14. Thank god.

I have to say, this is Adele's week. Listened to the song for the first time this week.... And I loved it. One of the most genuine and bare songs of the year. The piano chords hit me right there combined with her powerful singing. Surely a highlight with of the year for me

Kinda sad Dance Monkey go out of the charts but it had kinda overstayed its welcome. Good song regardless and I still encourage everyone to look into her other songs in order to not be discouraged when she releases new music

1) Cold Heart falling from number 1. However, at least it was Adele to replace it :)
2) My Heart Goes missed out on the Top 10 😭

🟠 Mixed:
I don’t really have any mixed opinions this week.

🟢 Positive:
1) Bad Day out of the top 40! Let’s get this out, quickly.
2) Wasted on ACR. Finally.
3) Woman moving off #14! At last.
4) OUT OUT, Kiss My (Uh Oh) and more avoiding ACR.
5) Drive climbing to a brand new peak after weeks of dropping!
6) Dance Monkey is gone
7) New Peak for I Don’t Want You and One Night (my personal number 1 rn) rebounds to 1 below its peak

P.S. For all of you that are on the discord server, I’m sorry again for the way I acted today, I was definitely in the wrong but I was too angry to admit it. I have calmed down now and I’m in a much better mood.

This week was just horrible for me, so I’m hardly going to be active probably until the next chart posts, but I hope you’re all okay at least. :)

WEEKLY CHART REVIEW (22/10/2021 – 29/10/2021)

🔴 (Negative)

1) Purple Disco Machine doesn’t appear to have made an impact on either chart this week! I thought ‘Exotica’ & the tracks from it would’ve done a lot better, given how popular Daft Punk were on the charts & how similar his new album sounds to their signature style. I think this would’ve performed a lot better a few years ago when EDM was at its prime though, but I still expected better given the recent disco revival.

2) Unless it somehow avoided this week, we look set to potentially lose ‘Visiting Hours’ in the next chart thanks to ACR! Sure, it’s no ‘Supermarket Flowers’ or ‘Afire Love’, but it still resonates with me on an emotional level & I don’t even think the release of ‘=’ will be enough to give this a second wind here.

3) Speaking of ACR, that’s what caused Lil Nas X to have a particularly bad week here, since both of his previous singles took massive drops & while you could argue that ‘Montero’ had already got old, I was still loving seeing ‘Industry Baby’ so high up every week! At least ‘That’s What I Want’ is continuing to hang in there though.

4) ‘Starlight’ debuted so low this week! I know it’s difficult for older groups such as Westlife to get a big hit nowadays when almost all of their discographic buy rather than stream their music & it’s not the group nor their fans even care about their chart position anymore anyway when they’ve proven so much already, but this is their best song in years & it deserved way better in my opinion.

🟠 (Mixed)

1) ‘Cold Heart [PNAU Remix]’ is off the top spot after just one week! It’s a little disappointing that it didn’t stay there for longer, but I’m just relieved that it managed to get there at all & it’s fine that it lost out to one of my favourite artists of the century, who I’ll talk about a bit more later.

2) ‘My Heart Goes [La Di Da]’ just fell short of the Top 10 again! It might’ve soured on me slightly thanks to the overplay & it’s definitely not among the best tracks from Becky Hill’s new album, but I still like it a lot.

3) Both ‘Happier Than Ever’ & ‘No Time To Die’ fell for Billie this week! I kind of prepared myself for this all week because I knew it was going to happen, although it’s still disappointing to see. At least they had incredible chart runs though!

4) ‘Wasted’ finally seems to have crashed out! I can’t put it in the positive section because of how it dropped off (coughACRcough!).

🟢 (Positive)

1) Completely unsurprisingly, Adele’s straight in at #1 with her first single since 2016 & also to the surprise of absolutely nobody, I absolutely love it! Now, granted, this is a very predictable Adele heartbreak ballad & it’s nothing we haven’t heard from her before, although the lyrics seem to resonate more here given how much it reflects her recent personal life, involve the divorce from her ex-husband, along with the distance between Adele & her child because of it. Of course, the vocals are completely flawless because you all know that Adele is a powerhouse singer, while the thumping piano keys & subtle touches of bass are both features of this song that will make her sound even more passionate! If I had to make a nit-pick, it would be that we don’t get a real climax here, especially when the final hook could’ve built up to so much more, e.g. throwing in a backing choir for the ending, but you know what, at the end of the day, your thoughts on this song will be almost completely similar to Adele as an artist as a whole! I still hope that she’ll explore new territory when we get into the other singles & even the album tracks on ‘30’, but when the charts have gone this long without a household name who’s always stood out among her peers, I’m not about to complain for one minute that she’s back. Amazing song & I can’t wait to hear what’s to come in this new era!

2) ‘My Universe’ crept back into the Top 5 thanks to Coldplay’s new album! I wouldn’t have expected a collaboration with them & BTS to work on paper, but it really does here.

3) ‘Better Days’ is still moving up! I’ve always loved this song, but I relied on it a lot this week especially for personal reasons.

4) ‘Boyz’ took a big second week drop! Good, because like I said last week, this isn’t a good fit for Jesy Nelson at all. For as much as she wanted to stray away from Little Mix for so long, she sounded so much better on the songs that she released as part of the group!

5) ‘Let Somebody Go’ gets a really good debut for an album track! I think we can all relate to having to cut ties with a loved one for the benefit of both people involved, but this track just hits really deep, probably because of the harmonies between Chris Martin & Selena Gomez on the second pre-chorus, as well as both of them nailing it with the vocals. The song closes with a sudden swell of instrumentation from the rest of the band grabs the listener’s attention immediately, yet it doesn’t feel too abrupt or out of place at the same time! Certainly a highlight from the album for me, the only thing that could’ve beat it might’ve been ‘Coloratura’ charting with it (unlikely because of that song being over 10 minutes long), but hey, I’ll take what I can get, especially when the quality is this high.

6) As well as the #1 single, Adele also got two of her older hits to re-enter the Top 40! ‘When We Were Young’ & ‘Someone Like You’ are both amazing choices for the British public to stream again to celebrate her comeback! You know what? I might just end up doing the same this weekend!

7) I knew it avoided ACR last week, but I wasn’t expecting to ‘Drive’ to start picking back up again like that! Does anyone know the reason behind it? Anyway, it’s an absolutely bop whatever caused it, haha.

I’m obviously gutted that ‘Psycho’ wasn’t included on it, but there were definitely some pleasant surprises on there, particularly the legendary Diana Ross closing CD1!
