Apple Music streaming fell off, though there are gains in spotify which seems hopeful.

#1, #4 and #6 collide with yesterday being my birthday! And I turned 16 on that day, but still a baby on here (drinks milk). #3 is the top debut of the week! #10 is the biggest climber of the week and it’s grown on me a lot.

And I think the remix for Suicidal at #7 is even better than the original! The original was amazing enough, but during Juice’s outro, I started to cry because his delivery was emotional and I miss him too much!

Yeah. 2 dance songs, 4 rap songs, 3 pop songs, and a weird song from will.i.am.

By the way, I got really mad about 'It's My Birthday' debuting at #1 at the time, all because it blocked the incredible 'Somebody To You' by The Vamps ft Demi Lovato at #4 that week (which was a former chart-topper on my personal charts for six consecutive weeks!).

Looking back, it's not that bad at all, but as you can tell from my recent birthday, there are better party-themed songs! :P

I liked Can We Dance back then, but I never cared for Somebody To You. And in regards to party-themed songs, In Da Club is #11 on the chart, Birthday by Katy Perry is #38, whilst Post Malone re-enters at #24! Plus, When The Party’s Over took a massive rebound to #14.

Yeah, I think my love for male groups comes from the fact that there were all over the radio when I first heard them, e.g. Westlife, Take That, Coldplay, etc. :)

The Vamps actually have like eight #1's on my personal chart, so there's a good chance if you say any song from them, I'll either like it or love it, haha!

Next week, expect the birthday songs to drop out completely, whilst the #1 is expected to be Flowers, currently with a 2:1 lead over Say So. The Bones by Maren Morris and Secure The Bag by Lil Uzi Vert could make their Top 10 debuts, and BGT singer Beth Porch could go straight in too.

How was your birthday yesterday anyway?

Oh, it was great! I got an iPhone (you can now accept me as part of the Apple family!) I also had a barbecue in the garden for dinner and cracked open a Tango Tropical in celebration. Honestly, without most of my family, my mates, and you people on Headline Planet and OCC, I don't know where I'd be.

Mine was fairly similar to yours actually, although I also did an online quiz with a friend from work that evening, went for a walk & had Thatchers Haze ciders to drink instead, haha.

Unfortunately, none of that happened, but I'm planning on doing all of that again as soon as I can return to Bristol!

I'm doing alright thanks! Incredibly bored, but at least I'm safe, that's the most important thing right now.

How are you?

I'm alright, but with how NYC is i don't know when I will be returning to work. I just got a email from the library and they are not even close to a date. I kind of miss working actually lol. I haven't worked since March 14th. But they extended a lockdown of New York at least until May 15th. So I won't be going back to work until at least after that.

I noticed the Hot 100 was quiet this week compared to how it has been, but honestly the top 10 has been a drag honestly. I feel like the same songs have been in the top 10 forever besides Drake lol. I think the fact also that people aren't going out that much is a factor. Most people aren't listening to the radio since a lot of people are home. So many people aren't hearing new songs around. And unless you search for new songs you are just sticking with the same songs which is boring. I honestly just wasn't in the mood to comment that much this week. I guess I miss doing things lol. But at least I am healthy and safe.

Yeah, the whole of the UK is on lockdown until May 7th at the earliest! I can still work from home as I'm a financial analyst, but yeah, really starting to miss friends & other family right now. Are you still getting any wages for being at home then?

I still think the reason behind everyone commenting on these articles is that it gives a sense of distraction from the news. There might not be a lot going on in the chart itself, but we can still chat other things in general! That's also why I do other music-themed posts, that don't exactly relate to the Hot 100 or Official Charts, e.g. Emoji Challenges, personal charts, throwbacks, etc.

So are you living with anyone else at the moment then? I'm currently with my mum & older brother!

I am with my parents and brother, it is expensive here in NYC lol. But I have applied for other places to live. I am just on waiting lists.

I still haven't heard 'The Greatest' yet, nor knew that it was related to combating coronavirus! That being said, I don't think it'll chart sadly, given that James Blunt is an older artist & will hardly get any streaming.

Oh well, as long as those kind of NHS or charity songs get a lot of sales, then the amount of the donations they get is way more important than any chart position!

Oof... Spotify is definitely the biggest one contributing to the UK charts at the moment.

I guess the huge sales are helping with donations to the NHS, which is wonderful to see, but they need more streaming to enter the charts!

Yeah, it might be leading on iTunes, but sales there are obviously a lot lower too because of the lockdown. Even more people are turning to streaming!

Oh well, chart position doesn't matter, as long as we can get through the lockdown, that matters more than anything. :)

Totally agree Piran. Been watching 'Kings & Queens' for weeks since it dropped into mid-nineties regions of the chart. So willing this to get "over the line" into to the Top 40 at least, like I'm backing a horse at the Grand National!

Hopefully after the weekend this will jump big-time at the mid-week sales?

Actually, it's mostly streaming. Sales account towards about 3% of overall "chart sales" & radio airplay doesn't count towards the Official Chart at all!

Finally Rita's reach inside the Uk Top 40 at last. At No.38 - probably that's where the peek is at, hopefully A LOT higher up for which it deserves.
