It's amazing that it took Gigi D'Agostino a total of just over 22 years to make a return to the UK Chart. The only time he appeared was in July 1996, at #73 with "Angel's Symphony" (with RAF by Picotto). Both times, amusingly enough, he's the second credited act.

He is well-known for his cover of Nik Kershaw's "The Riddle", which is surprisingly good and fun, and also has a great video. It came out around 1999/2000.

Don't you guys at the OCC work on Saturday's ???? I'm sure somebody does! and someone who could see their way to uploading the correct TOP 100 singles chart which like others point out should have been uploaded at 5.45 YESTERDAY FFS! By some way of an apology you do publish just the top 40 elsewhere in your posts but this is NOT acceptable and almost 24 hours later it's still not fixed. Sort it out NOW Please!

I think the chart has got even worse (well as bad as when Ed Sheeran's entire album was in the top 20!). The current number one has been in the chart for 21 weeks! 5 MONTHS AND BACK UP TO NUMBER ONE. That's crazy. Shotgun rises back to number one. This sort of chart activity would have been impossible pre-internet and pre-streaming.

Other than a 16 - 20 week limit for all songs eligible for streaming chart status, I cannot see any other way to improve the chart. No amount of chart stream 'quotas' will change the jukebox nature of the chart. Streaming will never equal true sales so just cap the streams - 20 weeks is enough and then the song is not eligible for chart sales. That would mean Geroge Ezra's Shotgun would have dropped out of the top 40 last week.

See, my idea will result in radical change to chart! Real movement instead of a top 10 or top 20 stagnant week in week out. :) The chart is busted, folks. Time for radical change.

its back upto no.1 because its sales/streams are still increasing or steady. As soon as they drop 3 consecutive week it will tumble as ACR will kick in.
Personally i think someone's streams should only count once as sales only count once...rather than every week.
Don't forget the only reason it has been in the chart for 21 weeks is the song was streaming and hence charting before official release and it took a while to climb to the top in the first place - as songs used to do before downloads and streaming.....

Said in hindsight, the OCC and the streaming apps should have sorted this out back in 2014 when streaming was added to the chart. The whole chart is mucked up - songs are around too long. Also, with streaming and Youtube views it seems a bit too much favouring artists on bigger record labels. Just the impression I get. I doubt a guy on his own record label or someone else's tiny record label will get many YT views. "Record label?" That sounds old fashioned. Heh. Kids will ask "what is a record?" "Well, kids, it's a shiny black thing that reproduces sound". Their reaction: "Boring!"

I sense a rat, Colin Mccrory! 'Officially', George Ezra (a 'real' musician) has returned to #1... but the OCC don't recognise it.

"Due to a technical fault beyond our control, the latest charts aren’t showing on the site. We’re hoping to resolve the issue as soon as possible." - OCC on their Facebook page

Technical fault. You can view the top 40 on the Radio 1 site.

Indeed and I did that the moment I realised this wasn’t updated. But the whole point of this site is to view the entire 100. “Technical fault”. Probably more likely member of staff forgot to update singles and albums before knocking off for the weekend haha

How technical is it to publish a page on the web?

avatar

Colin Mccrory

Exactly Paul... by the time it’s updated we will already be onto Mondays midweek chart.

It's a bit more involved than that Paul. When the charts publish, the process also re-crunches the numbers on each individual artist hub, weeks on chart, etc. Anyway, the latest charts are up now, enjoy!

On the subject of a lack of good songs in the chart, here's a catchy pop song. Has a Euro-pop vibe. The song does contain a swear word but if OCC don't mind, here is the song:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RL9v67-X_Ug

"Girlfriend....don't feel like a girlfriend."

The chart needs more tracks like this. :) There is another version sung in a foreign language.

Robyn entered the chart at #87.... after all that media coverage. I don't get it!

OS

Orange Studio

Well her style of pop music was big in the 2000s and early 2010s but it has basically died out now. It gets to #44 on sales, which is used more by older people, but doesn't chart on streaming, which is typically used by younger people and which is also used way more than sales. Therefore it gets a very low position.

I guess I am one of those older (50) people then.... I really love this song and play it all the time!

The charts are SO boring at the moment, there is just nothing happening and some great singles either didn't make it to the Top 100 or barely scraped in

It has always been boring at this time of year, a lot more singles will be released soon

I like seeing 'Body' hit the Top 10, but a bit mixed on 'Taste'!
Not too fond of 'Lucid Dreams' just beneath them though & haven't heard 'Sicko Mode' yet.
