Dopest #1 we've had in a while. Glad Drake's snoozy only lasted one week. Ariana will probably top the charts next Friday.

NOTES:
Calvin Harris and Da Lipa go to #1 with "One Kiss"! It's Calvin's 9th #1 and Dua's 2nd. it's a bit boring and don't think it will last long at #1. Drake drops down to #2 with "Nice for What" it's a shame as it's MUCH, MUCH better than "God's Plan" which spent 9 weeks at the top! #3 is Lil Dicky and co. with "Freaky Friday" I'm now bored of it. "Paradise" and "These Days" swap places but neither will be serious contenders for #1 in the future.

A FEW NEW ENTRIES:
#20 ZAYN- Let me (Mediocre, don't expect it to hang around like "Dusk Till Dawn" which is much better, although ZAYN will surely milk the video's success)
#26 Nicki Minaj- Chi-Li
#30 EO- German (It's another generic rap song about... German cars! (What a surprise...))
#31 Nicki Minaj- Barbie Tingz (I don't like Nicki's voice, lyrics and what she represents. Expect to see these songs drop next week)
#37 David Guetta- Flames (Average, both David's beat and Sia's vocals- not even classed as a dance track by the OCC)
#40 David Guetta- Like I do (Total perfection, great back beat and one of those songs where the "odd vocal" technique WORKS")

HIGH CLIMBERS
#18 Banx & Ranx- Answerphone (UP 7) (Pretty catchy!)
#23 Cardi B- I Like it (UP 17, HIGHEST CLIMBER) (I DO like it!)
#25 David Guetta- Mad Love (UP 14) (Highest of 3 tracks from David, I prefer Becky's vocals to Sean's but overall a great track!)

Ed Sheeran's "Perfect" is now on FORTY-ONE WEEKS! (11 Weeks to go!)

NEXT WEEK'S PREDICTIONS-
1 Calvin Harris- One Kiss
2 Ariana Grande- No Tears left to Cry
3 Lil Dicky- Freaky Friday
4 Drake- Nice for What
5 Rudimental- These Days
6 George Ezra- Paradise
7 Sigala- Lullaby
8 Cardi B- I like it
9 Avicii- Wake me up (The best song to remember him by, :( RIP)
10 Khalid- Love Lies

I also think that 'Nice for What' is a lot better than 'God's Plan', so it's a shame that it couldn't last as long at #1, but I do also really like 'One Kiss' so I'm happy that it got to #1. Wasn't a fan of the ZAYN or Nicki Minaj entries, but I liked 'German' and I'm glad that the 2 David Guetta tracks finally made it into the Top 40. I also really like that 'Answerphone' and 'Mad Love' took big climbs. I doubt that 'Perfect' can make it a full year in the Top 40 given how close it is to falling out and because it's now below even 'Shape of You' on streaming services, and it's just the multiple versions keeping it up. If not for ACR, it might've had a chance, but 'Shape of You' would also have easily made 52 weeks if not for ACR.

I'll update the predictions when the first day's worth of streaming figures are available on Spotify, but for now I'd predict (EDIT: with the streaming figures, the only thing I'd change is to swap 'No Tears Left To Cry' and 'Freaky Friday'):

1) Calvin Harris - 'One Kiss'
2) Drake - 'Nice for What'
3) Ariana Grande - 'No Tears Left To Cry'
4) Lil Dicky - 'Freaky Friday' (I also predict for all of these 4 songs to pass 50k combined sales)
5) George Ezra - 'Paradise'
6) Sigala - 'Lullaby'
7) Post Malone - 'Psycho'
8) Banx & Ranx - 'Answerphone'
9) Bebe Rexha - 'Meant to Be'
10) Avicii - 'Wake Me Up'

With streaming figures for the 21st, it might actually be 'Levels' that goes the highest. https://spotifycharts.com/regional/gb/daily/2018-04-21 though, led by 'Levels' at #5, so that really good for him, and 'Wake Me Up' is still #4 on iTunes and #8 on Spotify, so that could still be the highest. It's almost definite that he'll go Top 20 with at least 1 song, though, even though his sales and streams will definitely fall throughout the week.

Going by current chart rules, wouldn't all his songs be on ACR?

Many of his older songs might not be on ACR since they've never been on the chart since the rule was implemented, but even if they applied the rule to older songs, a song is automatically taken off ACR if it sees a performance increase of 50% or more in a single week, which will definitely happen for almost all of Avicii's songs. The main rule that's going to lower his performance is the 3 per artist rule.

These Days, Friends and Feel It Still are all moving onto ACR next week so they will probably all be out the top 20

Unfortunately, I don't think Avicii will have quite enough power to reach #2, but he'll definitely go top 10. (RIP Avicii)

I would love for Avicii to go to #2, but I would probably predict lower in the Top 10, or just outside of it. But he will do a lot better on the charts than most artists when they pass away, since, unlike when many artists pass away, Avicii won't just see the benefit on sales (though he is seeing some very nice benefit over there). Avicii being an EDM producer and an artist who is popular with the current generation means that he will see a big boost on streams as well.

Can anyone fill me in with the story about "Dreams by Ruti" Last week it was No. 14 in the Top 100. This week can't find it. And in the sales chart last week it was No. 1, this week No. 32. Thanks in advance

Like all Voice winner's single it fell out of the chart the week after release. It did very poorly on streams (not even entering the streaming chart last week) and now as no one cares about it it is obvious that it should drop out the top 100

I love that 'One Kiss' climbed to #1, especially with such a huge lead!
I also like seeing 'Lullaby' hit a new peak, 'Let Me' debut in the Top 20 & the big gains for: 'Answerphone', 'I Like It' & 'Like I Do'.
My full review will be up at some time this weekend! :)

I hope One Kiss grows on me, but I'm really not feeling it right now, and I still can't believe Meant To Be is missing out on the Top 10! However, I do like seeing Answerphone reaching a new peak, it's definitely going Top 10 as Spotify are promoting it quite a bit here. Hoping Ariana can go straight to #1 next week!

Hey Ted! :)
I hope it can grow on you too, because that's definitely happening to me right now & at the rate it's going, I could see it getting at least a month at #1, maybe even hitting two months if the next few weeks are a quiet time for new music.
Yeah, that's three weeks at #11 for 'Meant To Be'. It might end up being the 'That's What I Like' of 2018 in terms of chart run.
I think Ariana Grande will probably debut at #2; it's not too far behind 'Nice For What' on streaming & is way ahead of it on streaming, but it's not passing 'One Kiss' in either metric this week.

I think One Kiss is going to slowly decline as the week goes on, the main reason for it's massive numbers was because of our good weather and the fact it's a pretty summery track. No Tears Left To Cry is staying very consistent overall, and could potentially overtake it by Friday.

Looking even further ahead, I'm not even sure that One Kiss will manage a month at #1. Rumour has it that Jess Glynne is releasing a new single in May- and Post Malone is releasing his album, Beerbongs And Bentleys, next week, meaning Psycho will probably stay in the Top 10 for a little longer and we may have another surprise hit off of it.

Surprisingly, it looks like Meant To Be actually has a small chance at going Top 10, as it's very likely that These Days, Feel It Still, and FRIENDS are going on ACR this week! Ariana will obviously replace one of those, and I'm hoping Answerphone can get in as well, it's just a question if Meant To Be will make it.
