My thoughts & observations on the UK charts as always…
- ‘Shape Of You’ by Ed Sheeran climbs back to the top this week, giving it a total of 14 non-consecutive weeks at #1. The last song to make a return to #1 was ‘Love Yourself’ by Justin Bieber last January.
- ‘Sign Of The Times’ by Harry Styles falls 1-4 following last week’s debut. Interestingly, also previously from 1D, ‘Pillowtalk’ by ZAYN was the most recent song to only spend one week at #1.
- It’s been a very close & exciting race for the top spot #1 all week. Back on Tuesday, just under 5,000 sales separated the songs at #1 & #4.
- ‘Symphony’ by Clean Bandit ft Zara Larsson is #1 on the UK airplay chart for a third consecutive week. I predict that this will be at the top of the overall chart in the next week or two.
- Kendrick Lamar’s album had a big impact on the Official Charts this week, meaning that five tracks from it appear inside the Top 40 today. The album may not be his best, but is still definitely among the best rap music there has been in past few months. Best Songs: ‘Humble’, ‘Loyalty’ & ‘DNA’. Worst Songs: ‘God’. Rating: 8/10.
- Elsewhere, Lady Gaga debuts at #23 with ‘The Cure’. While I was a big fan of her last album, I’m very pleased to see that she’s going back to the dance-pop that she released at the start of the decade. I still prefer her biggest hits like ‘Born This Way’ for example, but this comes close! It’s also got a good message to go with it as well & while the vocal range here isn’t as big as many of her previous songs, she has still got an impressive voice! I would even say it’s the best new entry of the week across the Top 100.
- Also, ‘Did You See’ by J Hus also reaches the Top 40 by advancing 41-34 today. Overall, it’s not bad; I love the reggae rhythm to this & while tropical beats have been used far too much on hit songs this year, I think it works very well here. He does sound a bit boring at parts, but this song still grew on me a lot. Nice to see it keep rising!
- The two notable climbers in this week’s Top 40 are ‘Swalla’ by Jason Derulo ft Nicki Minaj & Ty Dolla $ign (24-15) & ‘Humble’ by Kendrick Lamar (31-6). The latter marks Kendrick’s first Top 10 in the UK as a lead artist.
- On the albums chart, Ed Sheeran remains at #1 for seven weeks in a row. The rest of the Top 5 is: Kendrick Lamar (debuts at #2), Rag’n’Bone Man (2-3), Drake (stationary at #4) & Take That (stationary at #5).
- Thanks for reading everyone! Have a good weekend. :)

Hey Piran! For some odd reason I can't get the chart here but if I click the "Click here to view the latest Official Singles Chart" link I do get it. Nice observations as always. More Life's down to 10 songs while all of ÷'s deluxe edition songs continue to chart, but maybe 2 or 3 might drop out next week. All of .'s songs are charted, but I expect them to do even better in the Hot 100 due to the levels of streaming seen in the US. Some of the songs that were charting last week will either rebound or re-enter as more of the album tracks from these 3 albums go down or drop out. I do hope Symphony manages to go to #1 next week!

BTW, I'm about to discuss the terms of a new job I'm about to take. I'll write to you later more about what it entails. Have a great weeknd and I hope talk to you for Sunday's BB 200 article.

Piran

1

Yeah, I had the same problem too! :/
Anyway, thanks for the usual comment! Just a correction on 'Divide' though; 'Save Myself' dropped out this week, so there are actually now 15 tracks from it charting inside the Top 100.
I think 'Symphony' will go to #1 next week as it'll be dominant in sales & radio (still increasing in the former category), with streaming & YouTube still having some momentum. :D
Looking at the Spotify numbers for the US, I think that by the time Simm posts the final Hot 100 predictions on Sunday's BB200 article, 'Humble' should be at #1 next week. ;)

2

Congratulations to Ed for returning to #1, although I'm starting to get tired of 'Shape Of You' now. Hopefully 'Galway Girl' or 'Symphony' will be the next #1, but I think the latter can do it next week!
It's good to see 'Humble' soar to #6 (I'm really liking Kendrick's new album!), as well as 'Issues' by Julia Michaels returning to the Top 10 this week as well.
Well I hope everyone has enjoyed their week! I'll try to be back with a full chart review a bit later. :)

Because of hip-hop that literally relies on it. Bad And Boujee #98, I'm looking at you. But I bet you wouldn't complain if Slipknot or Rage Against The Machine were in the charts and they swear all the time

I'd never thought I'd say this, but I'm glad that Harry Styles went to number 1, ending Ed Sheeran's python-esque stranglehold on the top spot (thanks streaming - hopefully this petition will change this: https://www.change.org/p/official-charts-don-t-let-streaming-count-in-the-main-charts). The song is still though, and the MSM trying to say that he is a legitimate artist is hilarious. Less comparable to Bowie (which is what I've hilariously seen him be compared to) and more to the endless 'rock' orientated one-hit wonders that occasionally become big on the charts and then are never seen again. It sounds like a very poor man's U2 if you ask me. Why anyone is raving about this pretentious garbage beyond his old One Direction fans is beyond me.

The main chart has become such a joke (album tracks entering the singles chart - it's called a 'Singles' chart for a reason!), that I've decided to take more notice of the vinyl chart. Madonna has re-entered with 'Vogue' at no.30!!!

In the US,"Shape of You" is only the fourth Hot 100 so far following "Starboy","Black Beatles" and(worst of all)"Bad And Boujee". Only,to be fair,"Starboy" interrupted the seven week run of "Black Beatles" for one week. So really,we've only had three.

If Harry knocks Ed out of #1 in the US after 11 weeks next week,(we'll know on Monday but it seems a certainty he will)he'll join Zayn as the second 1D member to have a number one single without the group having one of their own. I believe Liam is signed to Capitol for both the US & UK.

Hey Guys & Gals! Hope you are having a fantastic start to the weekend so far, This is my first time posting on this website and I just want to give my opinions on this weeks top 100 charts!
-- Harry Styles charts number 1 with Sign of the Times, his first solo song which has already gotten to number 1 and overall his 15th number 1.
- Ed Sheeran's consecutive number 1 with Shape of you has finally ended and in my opinion, I am very happy as it is not fair to have the same artist at number 1 for so long, so im happy about that but not that pleased that Harry Styles took the top spot this week. It's a decent song but to me it should be no higher than 5.
-- This week I am happy that Mask Off, by Future has climbed up 6 places this week (33-27), Although quite disappointed that HUMBLE. by Kendrick went down 10 places so quickly with its second week in the top 100.
- Swalla, by Jason, Nicki and Ty Dolla $ign has climbed the ladders 10 places this week and I can this song reaching a little higher up the boards in the next following weeks.
I find the little flute noise very catchy, and the lyrics are stupid but quite funny too :D. Also, On my mind by Disciples (81-34) has reached the top 40 , i like this song and its beat, i finally know what this song is called and I hope this grows to atleast 25th next week.
- Im happy that Anne-Maries 'Ciao Adiós' still progressing its way further up into the chrats.

-- Downsides this week, Blem by Drake has gone down 11 places (19-30) I really like the song and I also like the exotic vibes and catchy lyrics. Happier by Ed Sheeran has gone down 12 places this week (26-38) Personally that was my fifth favourite from his album, my favourites being Castle on The Hill, New Man, Galway Girl & Bibia be ye ye. I'm also quite shocked that there wasnt more songs entering the chart from The Chainsmokers new album, I thought that Don't Say, Bloodstream and Young would have entered the top 100

This is my opinion on the top 100 this week, have a great rest of your week! :D

Hey Kutze! :)
I think this review of yours is brilliant, especially considering it's the first time you've posted. I agree with a lot of your points as well, such as your favourite tracks from '÷'. :D
Just one correction though, 'Sign Of The Times' is Harry's 15th Top 10 & not his 15th #1.
I hope you have a good weekend too! ;)

so, what does everyone think about the new harry single? and do you think it'll be #1 on the uk charts next week? he may have a shot for #1 on the u.s. hot 100, but ed seems to have the #1 spot locked up for the next few wks *give or take*.

avatar

Techfan

1

I think it is good but a bit too long. I don't think it'll remain #1 in the UK next week unless it can sell as much as it did this week. As to the Hot 100, there's an article indicating it could debut in the Top 5, but I doubt #1. #4 or #5 is probably more likely. Shape of You will probably remain #1 this week, but for the week after That's What I Like or Humble could possibly get to #1.

Hoping in the coming weeks that "fast & Furious 8" singles will chart high and songs from the TV show "13 Reasons Why" will chart as well as songs from "NOW 93", which already haven't charted:

"Sign of the Times" by Harry Styles debuts at number 1 this week. It is Styles' first single outside of the boy band One Direction. It was written by Harry Styles, Ryan Nasci, & Mitch Rowland. Jeff Bhasker, Tyler Johnson & Alex Salibian produced the song. Jeff Bhasker has produced several hits during his career, like: "Run This Town" by Jay Z (feat Rihanna & Kanye West); "Runaway" by Kanye West (feat Pusha T); "Just Give Me a Reason" by Pink (feat Nate Ruess); and "Uptown Funk" by Mark Ronson. Harry Styles is scheduled to perform on Saturday Night Live (SNL) tomorrow, April 15th. Next Friday he will give his first solo performance in the UK on BBC's The Graham Norton Show. I was very impressed with this song- it proved to me that Harry Styles is an artist with real depth. "Sign of the Times" reminds me of the classic rock ballads made by legends like Elton John, David Bowie (on the "Hunky Dory" album), and Oasis.

"Shape Of You" by Ed Sheeran falls one place to number 2 this week. This song has already reached number one in 30 countries, and has received various certifications. I think this song will win him a Grammy Award.

"Die With You" by Beyoncé debuts at number 62 this week. Beyoncé originally released the song in 2015, for her seventh wedding anniversary, along with a music video of her performing at a piano and wearing a baseball cap. On April 4, 2017, she released another video for the song to commemorate her and Jay Z's nine-year anniversary. The new video, available only on Tidal, features home footage.

"Passport Home" by JP Cooper debuts at number 86 this week. This is a very well written song (in my opinion). It has lyrics like "You're the only one who knows every weakness I've exposed, And I can't believe you chose to see this through. You're the picture in my heart and I loved you from the start. That's the reason I keep coming back to you". That's pure genius. Great song.

2

hey stranger!!! where ya been? so are the heat in the playoffs?

J

Jstar

3

Of course we are not in the playoffs. The wack Bulls had the same record as us but some how got in lol. It had to do with a tie breaker when we lost games early in the season. Even though we went 30-11 in the second half of the season and beat the Bulls the last time we played haha. Don't worry though. Congrats to the Bulls on making the playoffs even though we both had the same record lol.

The Heat will be the number 1 seed next year if they play like they did in the second half. We only had 12 less wins then the number 1 seed Celtics.

But I'm doing fine. I was on the hot 100 article on Wednesday. What do you think of Harry's single? I think it is pretty good.

avatar

Sunshine Gal

2

the 'wack' bulls....??!! not our fault your guys didn't play better :D anyway, i'm glued to the stanley cup playoffs, my blackhawks lost game 1 last night to the nashville predators! so who are you gonna root for in the nba playoffs then?

yeah harry's single is alright, i was just checking out the new tlc single....very good!! i can't wait for their album to come out :)

J

Jstar

3

We had the best record in the east the second half of the season. They should've added a 9th team just this year lol. Also we lost our starting SG the last 13 games. But I am happy for D-Wade though. No one else haha.

I ain't rooting for no one. I am rooting for next season already when the Heat win the ring lol. Don't ask me about Hockey though, I don't care if your Blackhawks win though. I got the Warriors winning it all if you must know.

TLC is still making new music. I didn't even know that. Well Harry is probably going to debut within the top 5 on the hot 100.

avatar

Sunshine Gal

1

hahah!!! a 9th team?? well, i don't have much confidence the bulls will keep advancing, but you never know. and ok...wow, sounds like you're pretty burned about the heat :D they should've won more games then ;)

anyway, yeah looks like tlc has a new single...it was tons of fun in the 90s when they'd always be in hot 100's top 10.

J

Jstar

1

We had the most injuries by far out of any team. That is a valid excuse why we sucked the first half of the season lol. Yeah, I'm burned lol.

That is cool you like their new single though. I don't think I am really familiar with their music past 2000. I do know a few of their 90s songs though. Well that is of course is when they were most successful. No Scrubs is still my favorite song by them.

avatar

Sunshine Gal

1

well, i don't care about the heat :D that was pretty harsh about what you said about my blackhawks! they can't help that the heat didn't advance...maybe the heat should just retire? :D

and yes, tlc was awesome back in the day! so, any new music you're looking forward to?

J

Jstar

1

I don't care about the Blackhawks because I don't care about hockey lol. Never watched a game in my life. I don't even know if the Lightning or Panthers are in the playoffs haha.

Um, I can't think of anything right now. But I'm going to party like its 3017 tonight. I am listening to Beauty and a Beat right now by JB lol. The lyric is 3012 tonight. What is your favorite song from TLC then?

avatar

Sunshine Gal

15

oh ok :D i'll try not to bring up my hawks to you then ;). well, the lightning and panthers aren't in the playoffs. if it makes you feel any better, the panthers beat my guys 7-0!

well, right now i got my jt mix on, and i got 'sexyback' on....still an amazing track! well for me, my all time tlc jam would be 'creep'. i was blown away seeing it @ #1 on the hot 100 *their first #1*. i was a lil' disappointed with their new and mature look @ 1st, but today i understand why they did that.

so, how do you like the new harry song? do you like ed's new music?

J

Jstar

3

I like Harry's new song. Ed is solid.
I understand why TLC had to change their look a little to be more marketable.

Well today is my late day at work. I have to get going but it was good talking to you Sunshine Gal.

avatar

Techfan

1

Both teams had the same Division record so it all went down to the Conference record tiebreaker, which had the Bulls leading by a single win. Sorry, bud! But as least there's some hope that your team can get better for next year via the draft and free agency.

avatar

Techfan

1

There's an article in the BB Disqus stream where you can hear the new TLC song. I liked it a lot!

J

Jstar

1

Hey Techfan. I thought it was head to head record unless the season series was tied. They beat us 2-1 head to head.

I know we will definitely make the playoffs next year if we keep the main core. If we can get a good draft pick and a solid free agent I can see them winning 50 plus games.

J

Jstar

3

I'll get around to it. Cool to know they are still making music.

avatar

Techfan

1

Hey Jstar! Yeah, the head to head record turned out to be the second tiebreaker after winning percentage. Since they play in the same conference but different division, they get 3 games against each other and the teams won their home games, the difference being that the Bulls played at home twice. That said, Dragic and Whiteside are good pieces to build around. Too bad Bosh had those blood clot and is occupying all that cap space.

J

Jstar

1

Bosh will be released this year and won't count against them. So we will have like 40 million in cap space.

Unfortunately I would love to have Bosh if he was healthy. It is sad that those blood clots probably cut his career a little short. This draft is suppose to be deep so hopefully we can find somebody good.

Which teams do you have in the finals and who do you have winning it all? I have the Warriors playing the Cavs and winning the championship. But the Celtics might have a chance to get there too.

avatar

Techfan

1

Yeah. I wasn't aware that Bosh had that issue. So, yeah I can see the finals you're mentioning, but the Cavs definitely had a bad second half with more losses than wins. The Celtics are a tough bunch and did very well in getting the best record in the East.

J

Jstar

1

I kind of expect the Cavs to still make it. But these are the most loses a LeBron led team has had in awhile. The Celtics could but the Cavs do have the experience though.

But I didn't know they had more loses then wins in the second half. That doesn't sound that good. I don't seem them repeating at all even if they do make it. I think the top 4 teams in the west could all beat them, but mostly the Spurs and Warriors

Now getting back to music lol. I think Harry's song will probably debut at 4 on the Hot 100. That will be excellent but I'm not sure about it's longevity.

avatar

Techfan

1

Regarding Sign of the Times, I checked its Spotify and it definitely dropped from the day before. It's hard to figure out where is actually in iTunes it is because the song was relisted yesterday, but it looks like #10 would be the best it can possibly return to for the time being. In radio, it had the Friday second week effect and lost more than 40% of its audience from the day before. I fear it might repeat what's happening with Green Light, which never quite returned to the Top 50 and is actually losing audience everyday. That song was already put on sale in iTunes. For Sign of the Times, I can see a relatively steep second week drop, maybe even outside of the Top 10.

J

Jstar

1

Well according to Headline Planet Green Light actually had the lowest call out score. So no surprise to see it fall. I surprisingly like Harry's song more than I thought I would. So I would be happy to see it do pretty well. But yeah radio has dropped off significantly and of course sales and streams will decline this week.

I know you like that song Issues though. It looks like it may have a chance to reach the top 10.

avatar

Techfan

1

So you actually saw that ... in the same article, they mentioned that Castle on the Hill had a less positive reactions that Green Light had, which I kind of find shocking, given that I think Green Light is a bit of a mess of song. Obviously, being a fan of Castle on the Hill makes me less willing to accept a negative reaction towards it.

Yeah, I like Issues as well and understand is a bit of an acquired taste type of song. It should get into the Top 20 this week thanks to being on sale on iTunes. Another one that should have a good chance at the Top 10 in two weeks is Stay, now that it has been put on sale on iTunes. It's all the way up to #2.

My thoughts & observations on the UK charts as always…
- Harry Styles earns his first solo #1 with ‘Sign Of The Times’, finally putting an end to Ed Sheeran’s 13-week reign with ‘Shape Of You’! It’s also Harry’s 15th Top 10 entry including his appearances as part of One Direction.
- As for the song itself, I wasn’t expecting this sound from Harry at all, but I’m very impressed by it! It’s a fantastic throwback to early 1970s rock & even comparisons to David Bowie have already been made. Harry’s falsetto is decent, but I love his more powerful vocals & especially the riff that closes out the song (it reminds me a lot of ‘Purple Rain’). I don’t see it staying here for very long, but it definitely deserves to!
- Despite already being the middle of April, ‘Sign Of The Times’ is only the third #1 single of 2017 so far.
- ‘Symphony’ by Clean Bandit ft Zara Larsson remains at #1 on airplay for a second week.
- ‘Places’ by Martin Solveig & Ina Wroldsen also enters the Top 40 today, lifting 42-27. It’s Martin’s sixth appearance in this region & Ina’s first! The latter artist wrote most of the song (which actually samples ‘Waiting For A Star To Fall’ by Boy Meets Girl). I think house music suits Martin’s production better, so I’m happy that he returned to this sound. Also, the encompassing bass followed by vocal chops over a catchy drop make me really enjoy this! It might have took its time reaching the Top 40, but that’s better than never. Good song!
- Disciples make their third Top 40, as ‘On My Mind’ soars 81-34. You may remember them most from their #2-peaking hit with Calvin Harris, ‘How Deep Is Your Love?’, last summer. I definitely like the vocals throughout the song, although the beat seems a bit generic & does get a bit boring & repetitive after the first couple of minutes. Overall, not a bad dance song, but not a good one either & even though it’ll likely climb the Official Charts in the coming weeks, I don’t see myself coming back to listen to this in the coming months.
- Elsewhere inside the Top 40, notable climbers are: ‘Green Light’ by Lorde (27-20), ‘Mask Off’ by Future (33-26) & ‘Swalla’ by Jason Derulo ft Nicki Minaj & Ty Dolla $ign (34-24).
- On the albums chart, ‘÷’ by Ed Sheeran earns a sixth consecutive week at #1. The rest of the Top 5 is: ‘Human’ by Rag’n’Bone Man (stationary at #2), ‘Memories… Do Not Open’ by The Chainsmokers (debuts at #3), ‘More Life’ by Drake (3-4) & ‘Wonderland’ by Take That (4-5).
- Looking ahead to next week, potential new arrivals to the Top 40 include: ‘Best Behaviour’ by Louisa Johnson, ‘Did You See’ by J Hus & ‘Baby’ by Anton Powers & Pixie Lott.
- Thanks for reading everyone! I hope you all have a good weekend. :)

oh that's right, i totally forgot...been a busy week for me ;D. well, that's great for harry! i remember when jt first went solo, almost everyone wrote him off *myself incl.* cuz his first single didn't do anything from what i remember. *i can't recall the title, i think 'senorita' or 'love me like you do'*.

anyway, some of the bsb guys tried solo endeavors around that time and nothing really happened for them. and then jt does 'cry me a river' :D i honestly thought he just got lucky with that one :D

Yeah, 'Sign Of The Times' also debuted at #3 on the radio over here, which is an amazing first week for airplay! :)
Believe it or not, my local radio station actually played a lot of JT & especially MJ last night. :P
So out of the four solo singles we've had from the 1D members, which is your favourite: 'PIllowtalk', 'This Town', 'Just Hold On' or 'Sign Of The Times'? ;)

hmmm...jt and mj? trying to think if this month is any kind of anniversary moment for them? i don't know for any uk stats, but i can't think of anything special the month of april would be for either 1 of them. nsync obviously in april of '00 was dominating in sales and so did mj in april of 1983...other than that, i can't think of anything else. well, that uk radio has some really good taste ;)

prob. harry's single :D and sorry zayn! I never got into his solo work...i still think zayn's best vocals and music is with 1D.

Yeah, it was on the throwback channel though & they hadn't played any MJ or JT in a while, so I was expecting to hear something for both artists soon! :)
Also, 'Can't Stop The Feeling' is still #31 on the UK airplay chart (but #12 on airplay in just my county) which is incredible for a song that will be one year old next month. :D
Yeah, I agree that Harry's single is the best so far & that I'm not really into ZAYN's sounds that much. Do you think Liam will release a solo single soon? ;)

i dunno...is liam signed to a u.s. or uk label? well, i do wish them all the best, too bad no more history making feats for them though :/. i mean, it was great for zayn to debut @ #1 on both charts, but there was nothing spectacular about it. same with harry.

hmmm...unless there were fan requests for jt and mj, did either of them do anything special in april in the uk that you know of?

I'm not too sure what label he's signed to, but I'll find out for you & hopefully let you know next time we chat! :)
Well I know we have TBT (Throwback Thursdays) on the radio & there are sometimes fan requests as a result, so that could be the reason... :D
Hey, I need to sign off now, but it was good chatting to you again! Speak to you tomorrow if you're going to be on. ;)

ok mate, i'll talk to your ar$e later ;). and def. lemme know where liam is signed too...he doesn't have any upcoming singles out anytime soon?

As always, great observations from you! To which I'll add, Mr. Brightside managed to make the Top 100 in spite of not being in the mid-week update, inching one week closer to tying the record of weeks charted in the Top 100 OC singles chart. More Life still has 14 tracks charting while all 16 tracks from ÷ continue to chart. Also, no new track from the new album from The Chainsmokers debuted this week in spite of the album's debut at #3. Have a great weekend if I don't hear from you! ;)

Oh... Lil Uzi Vert debuted though.

I hope he doesn't climb next week

I Am A Stegosaurus

2

Hey! Didn't we discuss a couple of months ago how there was no chance of a rock song topping the chart? Disproven! Well, I think it counts as rock.

I Am A Stegosaurus

That fact about the Chainsmokers is weird. What did I say about how it's only ever urban acts or super popular acts that can have all their album tracks in the chart

avatar

Techfan

2

Yeah, it seems the case to be in the UK. You have to be able to either sell and/or get your song streamed which seems to fit the description of the acts you mentioned. In spite of not getting any new tracks on the Singles chart, I can see possibly at least a couple of songs that will hit the chart once they are officially released.

I thought that 'Places' is actually Martin Solveig's 4th top 40, after Hello, The Night Out and Intoxicated

Well I just checked the Official Charts archives & it turns out that 'Places' is his sixth Top 40 appearance! Thanks for the message though & I'll edit my post now. ;)

Hey Synthesiza! I hope you're having a good weekend. :)
I completely agree that it's nice to see a rock song at #1, especially considering 'Castle On The Hill' & 'Human' couldn't topple 'Shape Of You'! I think 'Sign Of The Times' definitely can count as rock though.

Piran

Yeah, hopefully 'XO Tour Lif3' doesn't stick around... :/

Thanks for those further observations Techfan! :)
Yeah, the tracks from '÷' & 'More Life' are staying around a lot longer on the Official Charts than I thought they would. In comparison to the Hot 100, there are only two from the former remaining ('Shape Of You' & 'Castle On The Hill') & eight from the latter.
Regarding 'Mr Brightside', do you prefer it to 'Chasing Cars'? I would give The Killers' song a 7/10, but the Snow Patrol one a 9/10.
I hope you've had a good weekend too & I'll hopefully see you on the BB200 article later!

Techfan

You're welcome! You know that the main reason that those songs from the albums are sticking around longer is because of the Hot 100 radio component, which gives released song a better chance to chart.

About Mr. Brightside I'd give it a 7.5/10, while Chasing Cars a 8.5/10, so pretty close to your ratings.

BTW, Lady Gaga put on a surprise release which shot to #1 in iTunes. Stay, which was discounted on Friday, had shot up to #2 and I think will have to wait out the hype dying down for Gaga's single to have a chance at #1.

I'll see you at the BB 200 article later! ;)

On another note, I see both Man City and Liverpool won, while Chelsea lost. And in La Liga, both Barcelona and Real Madrid won 3-2, except Real Madrid I think, once again, got a stoppage time goal. The play each other next weekend, which Barcelona would have to win, given that Real Madrid still has a pending game.

avatar

Piran

Yeah, I noticed that too! That means Chelsea are still leading with 75 points, but Tottenham have closed the gap as they are second with 71, Liverpool are third with 66, Man City are fourth with 64 & Manchester United are fifth with 60. :)
On another note, will the Hot 100 article post tomorrow night or on Tuesday? I know we have a holiday for Easter Monday over here, but do the US have that too?

avatar

Techfan

Yeah, that Chelsea loss brought some excitement back into the EPL Championship race.

They mentioned in the article saying that Sign of the Times was headed for a Top 5 debut that they would post it tomorrow. The BB 200, last year they posted on Easter Sunday. So, in theory, it should be later today ...

In my country, since it's mostly Catholic, the office workweek was until Wednesday mid-day. I actually had Wednesday off and many businesses don't open Good Friday and some extend that until today. That sawdust rug I was supposed to help with on Friday (the friend of my cousin had some sort of emergency and cancelled) is a big part of the week, since we have marches from the different Catholic churches near the Cathedral downtown. I wasn't quite able to avoid bumping into a march in getting to and from my uncle's house ... In the US, this Holy week is mostly celebrated on Easter Sunday and I don't think people get any time of because of it.

avatar

Piran

1

Well the BB200 article actually just posted, but I'm very excited for tomorrow's Hot 100! :D
Interestingly, we have a "four day weekend" over here, where Good Friday & Easter Monday are both days off.

avatar

Techfan

1

I see. I had never heard of Easter Monday before ...

avatar

Techfan

1

Hey Piran! I just checked that last year they didn't post the Official Charts Singles update article until the Tuesday after Easter Monday. So that probably means that the chart update itself will also be updated then, right? I'll see you in a bit on the Hot 100 article. ;)

avatar

Piran

1

Hey Techfan! :)
Well from what I remember, Official Charts post a summary article about the update on Tuesday, but they don't do mid-week predictions for the full Top 100 at all.
As for the main chart itself, that will always update on a Friday, no matter if there's a holiday that day or not.
Yeah, see you later for the Hot 100 article!
