One thing I have noticed as an artist is that there is a cricle and breaking into that circle is quite hard.

My release is raw on purpose, it is delivered desperate and haunting because we have all faced that adversity in our lives.

I hope that I can find someone to help me boost this single break the top 100 would be brilliant

Available on all major stores

UK charts has way much better songs than Hot 100.

I am incredibly happy to see Clean Bandit climb to the top spot - I would go so far as saying Rockabye is my favourite number 1 in a long time and probably my favourite clean bandit song. I just think they have all the elements here to make a hit - Anne-Marie is a great new Artist to emerge over the past 12 monthly, Sean Paul is an expert at What he does and the tropical House type style is of course [still] very popular... So all in all it was always gonna be massive! Well Done. (and way better than Little Mix also lol)

So.. I wonder if Olly is gonna do well in the charts this week after his x factor Performance on the weekend? Hopefuly he will get the #1 Album.. Him and Rob, 1 and 2, that would be good, although I'm a bit surprised that Robbie is looking like being ousted from the top spot after just 1 week, it would make it a little earlier to take of it was his mate Olly that took his crown..

Waaay, fake Murs fan is back yet again... Yeah, he's set to hit #1 in the Album charts.

Also, did you just say Rockabye is Clean Bandit's best song? Well I suppose their shift of sound is helping in pleasing the mainstream audience then

avatar

Ricci Tambor

0

Lol yep, mainstream audience thats me - I Love olly murs after all - and idk about it being there Best, I did say PROBABLY lol, now I consider it a little more, I really liked Rather Be (mainstream fan) and I also loved Come Over (not so mainstream?) I even have their Album new Eyes on cd (which is Very rare for me, in fact I think its one of the last cds I ever purchased physical wise) but I can't say I was massively impressed with a lot of the tracks on there tbh. So yeah, I suppose I do like their new sound but I am expecting this track will be more of an exception Rather than the rule as regards to their new albums overall sound. I think the majority of it - especially the non-singles - will most probably have stronger orchestral elements. But hey, maybe i'll be Completely wrong. Olly4ever.

Right then, I'm late, and can already smell Piran Delves and Sunshine Gal piling up the comments, so I will start Ups and Downs each week (my opinion, not climbers and fallers :P)

Ups:
Hurts dropped out the top 40. Don't like that song.
Sigma's new song hits 46. Surprising.
Little Mix are off number 1. THANK GOD!
SOTME only had 3 weeks at number 1, as did SYWLG. The runs are shortening
Mr Brightside is still in the top 100... Yay, I suppose! (There's not a lot of ups this week are there?)

Downs:
Rockabye hit number 1. Terrible song, spoke about it in other comments.
Juju on the Beat enters at 40. I heard it and it's AWFUL. Is this the normal time of year for novelty songs, coz it's getting proven with this and other songs, such as...
Crank That. Still in. WHY?
Sucker For Pain is about to fall out the 40!
Lack of movement overall
Sexual still on the up.
Don't Wanna Know hits 7. It had better not outpeak Sugar.
VERY SIMILAR Top 10, just with one song going in and a new number 1. The only song I even like in the top 10 is Closer, and yet I hate the Chainsmokers.

Okay, so we are now living in a country where Green Day and Red Hot Chili Peppers CAN'T hit number 1 but Anne-Marie CAN in the singles chart. I literally bet earlier in the year Anne-Marie would never have a top FORTY single, let alone number ONE

avatar

I Am A Stegosaurus

1

This is proof that Clean Bandit are selling out, making a tropical-house like song just to draw the listeners in and dropping the ECM. The fact Rockabye hit number ONE clearly shows this

So here are my thoughts on this weeks chart:
Congratulations to Clean Bandit on getting there 2nd number 1. It`s not my favorite song but i`m very happy it`s number 1. I feel SOTME has had it`s time at the top spot. i predict Rockabye will be at the top for a couple of weeks like SYWLG and SOTME.
Also this week, good to see Bruno Mars jump into the top 5, 24K magic is probable my favorite song right now. Sexual by NEIKED is also back up to it`s original peak of 6. These 2 singles are not only continuing to well in sales but are gaining momentum in streaming. I think both these singles will continue to climb up the chart over the coming weeks.
I`m very happy to see Maroon 5 get there 9th top 10 hit, Don`t wanna know may sound similar to LMLY, but it has a good beat and Kendrick Lamar on the single automatically makes it a hit. LOL.
It looks like Sia will be out of the top 10 next week which i don`t mind. I think the greatest has had it`s time in that region. Drake is out of the top 10 after only 1 week in there with Fake Love. I`m not complaining, but it has definitely grew n me ALOT over the week.
Elsewhere in the chart, Louisa Johnson continues to climb up the chart with So Good. I really hope it can hit the top 10! It`s a brilliant pop song imo and as a first single alone that she has been able to make by herself, i think it`s really good. Excited to see what she comes up with in the future! Jonas Blue is also climbing with By your side. i`m a massive fan of Jonas and i hope that his latest single can continue climbing.
I have no idea how the vamps have gone so high and the fact that they are at number 9 on the sales chart baffles me. I do like there single with Matoma though. Also happy to see Fifth harmony shot up the chart.
Black Beatles is in the top 40 as a new entry. i actually think it has a very good chance of hitting the top 10 next week. it`s an alright single with a good beat. Juja on dat beat is also in the top 40, i like beat of the song tbh.
Overall, a good week in the chart!

Rockabye is at number 1, it's a bit rubbish compared to most clean bandit songs but it's a lot better than little mix (who i can't stand)

Bruno gets into the top 5 and Maroon 5 get into the top 10, i like both songs

Possibly the fact that closer is falling to number 8 and starving is falling to number 9 is the best part of this week's charts

So Good and By Your Side are climbing a bit...wait, anyone know why All Night is at 24? It's a good song though

Fifth Harmony are climbing to 26 with probably their best song

Crank It is climbing!!! wait, one place...oh

Black Beatles magically entered the chart, I think it could climb next week, and it's an OK song

ALL WE KNOW HAS DROPPED OUT OF THE TOP 40!!!!!! EVERYONE PARTY

The Mack might be in the top 40 next week :)

And i hope chainsmokers don't get higher than number 55

Giggs seems to be doing well, might enter the top 40 in a few weeks

You Want Me has climbed to 72 :)

And Mura Masa has his first top 100 single, Lovesick is an epic song

T

Thermo

1

All Night is so high because the physical CD single was released this week (yes, apparently those are still a thing).

First point is so true, but I definitely don't like CB's new approach.

Who is the Mack? As in Macklemore?

The mack is a remix of return of the mack

Another song I'd like to see on the charts is "Queen Elizabeth" by Cheat Codes. I ❤ that song, and I love Queen Elizabeth (and the entire royal family).

avatar

Lombe

0

I'm delighted to see "Rockabye" by Clean Bandit (feat Sean Paul & Anne-Marie) at number 1. The song is Clean Bandit's second number one single after "Rather Be", and their first single since Neil Amin-Smith's departure from the group.
It's also great to see "Setting Fires" by The Chainsmokers (feat XYLO) debut on the charts at number 55. It's actually one of my favorite songs at the moment. I hope it can break into the Top 40 next week. This song is currently on top of the South African Top 40 Dance Charts.
I would like to see Zara Larson's latest single, "I Would Like" on the charts next week. It's another favorite of mine. I'll go out on a limb and predict that it will debut on the charts somewhere in the top 10, next week.

avatar

Dan Love

1

Rockabye isn't clean bandit's best song imo
I haven't heard setting fires yet, but I've hated their last two songs so i don't think i'll like it much
zara larsson is normally rubbish imo

I have a feeling he reason why Neil left is because the rest wanted to make different music and he didn't like it, which was a smart thing to do

Congratulations to Clean Bandit as 'Rockabye' becomes their 2nd UK #1 single, which is also Sean Paul's 3rd & Anne-Marie's 1st. It's not my favourite song that they've released, but I still like the song & I'm very pleased for them; I always like how Clean Bandit can blend classical & dance together in their music, this is the best I've heard of Anne-Marie's vocals & even though I'm not a huge fan of Sean Paul's rap part yet, it might grow on me soon.
It's also great that Bruno Mars climbed this week (looking forward to the new album next Friday) & that Maroon 5 have earned their 9th Top 10 in the UK today.
I have no idea why 'All Night' jumped so high this week, but it's one of my favourite songs in the Top 40 at the moment so I'm very happy about that. I know a lot of people don't like 'Black Beatles' that much, but I really love the beat to the song & it has a catchy hook too. I think will continue to ascend the charts over the coming weeks as well. I really can't stand 'Juju On Dat Beat' though, so it's a bit annoying that it made the Top 40 today, but that was inevitable to happen to be honest.
Finally, I agree with what chartwatcher said in his post about Robbie Williams' new album. He's released some of my favourite songs of all-time & as the 'Heavy Entertainment Show' becomes his 12th UK #1 album, he now has the record for the most UK #1 albums by a British solo artist.
Well this was a much better week for the Official Charts today in my opinion. Thanks for reading my thoughts & I hope you all have a great weekend. :)

J

Jstar

3

Hey Piran. Good review. I am happy for Clean Bandit too. I am off today from work so that is cool. I hope your day has been ok. I read that your week wasn't that great earlier on. I didn't really have a great week either. That is why I haven't been on since Monday.

But atleast I get to relax today. I am probably going to walk around Central Park later with friends.

avatar

Piran

2

Thanks Jstar! Yeah I hope that 'Rockabye' can debut on the Hot 100 soon, as it seems to be getting success across Europe now. :)
Yeah my day has been pretty good thanks, but it's a shame to hear that you didn't have a great week either. I'm more positive about the next few days though & I hope you are too! :D
Well I remember visiting Central Park when I went to New York & it was snowing all the time that we were there which was awesome. Oh how do you feel about 'Black Beatles' probably becoming the next Hot 100 #1 on Monday then? I think it may even become a hit in the UK as well as the US! ;)

J

Jstar

1

Hopefully they can have another hit. Well atleast they managed to get a top 10 hit in the U.S with Rather Be. That was one of my 5 favorite songs from 2014.

Central Park is a nice place. I haven't been in a while so it will be nice to take a stroll in the park. Good to hear your day has been going well. There is one big reason why my week why my week hasn't been good. But I don't want to reflect on it right now.

I actually hope Black Beatles reaches number 1. I like Closer but am ready for a new number 1 song. I saw Sinshine Gal was on for a little bit to which is nice.

avatar

Piran

1

I think I know why you haven't enjoyed your week, but let's not talk about that anymore.
Yeah 'Rather Be' was #2 on the 2014 Year-End UK Charts (behind Pharrell Williams' 'Happy'), but it was definitely one of my favourite songs of that year as well. :)
I completely agree with you regarding 'Black Beatles' though & Sunshine Gal said she would probably be on today or tomorrow, so you may still see her later tonight. I wonder if she's heard 'Black Beatles' yet... LOL

J

Jstar

1

It was something else. But I already saw you talking to Sunshine Gal about that other thing haha. Rather Be really was a awesome song. Jess Glynne has excellent vocals too. I wish she had more success here.

Maybe she will be on before I go out. You should tell her to listen to the song while you are talking if she hasn't heard it yet. Either she will be my like "this isn't to bad", or she will be like "my ears" lol.

avatar

Piran

1

Well you know how I always say how Taylor is currently my favourite artist (& always has been), but Jess Glynne would definitely be my 2nd favourite. When I went to V Festival back in August, I was able to see her perform & she was incredible! :)
So is 'Rather Be' your favourite song by Jess Glynne then, or is there another that you like even more? Her best songs in my opinion are 'Take Me Home' & 'Hold My Hand'.

J

Jstar

1

That is cool you got to see her perform live. I know she had a lot of success in the U.K with her debut album. Rather Be is my favourite song that she sang on. But Hold my Hand was great aswell.

Also that is cool to know she is your second favorite singer. I just drove somebody home so that is why I didn't respond right away.

avatar

Piran

1

Well Jess Glynne has already had 5 UK #1 singles, which ties Cheryl's record for the most weeks at #1 by a British solo female artist. :)
So is the list for Sunday's BB200 article still going to be #4-peaking songs then?

J

Jstar

1

I knew she had 4. I will have to check what the other one is. But that is awesome she has 5 already.

Yep that is the list for Sunday if billboard doesn't post the article at midnight east coast time again lol.

avatar

Piran

1

Jess Glynne's 5 #1s are: 'Rather Be', 'My Love', 'Hold My Hand', 'Not Letting Go' & 'Don't Be So Hard On Yourself'. :)
Yeah I was up until 5am my time waiting for that article to post! I'm thinking of doing a list series where we talk about our Top 10 favourite #1 hits from each decade. I'll do the 21 & Under songs lists before then if you want, but I'm pretty sure we already did that when you were on your summer break.
I'm looking at the HDD predictions for Sunday's BB200 & Bon Jovi should easily take the #1. Alicia Keys will probably enter at #2, Trolls Soundtrack is at #3 & The Chainsmokers' new EP is at #4. Completing the Top 10 predictions are: 'Now 60' at #6, Kenny Chesney at #7, Meek Mill at #8, Lady Gaga at #9 & 'Hamilton' at #10.
Oh you'll be pleased to know that Sunshine Gal told me that she'll be back on Billboard before the start of December.

J

Jstar

1

I'm not sure about the Hits daily double prediction. The article they posted on Tuesday had a very different order. We will see how billboard places it on Sunday.

Hopefully she will be on before billboard before the start of December. Although a lot of people may be off by December lol.

I forgot the number 1 hit with Time Tempah. That sounds like a interesting idea. Are you sure you did that list when I wasn't here. I don't remember when I was looking through all your lists. But I can check again.

avatar

Piran

1

Yeah HDD & even Billboard's updates last week predicted that Kenny Chesney would get the #1 album all week, but then Jeezy went atop the BB200 & nobody was expecting that!
I'll probably be on for quite a bit during December I think, as my schedule gets very quiet for a few weeks then. Are you going to be commenting on here during that month then?
I honestly can't remember if I did that list or not, but I definitely remember talking to Sunshine Gal about it. I'll probably do it again after next Monday, as I understand that you've already made a list for that theme. So the rule would be that any artist included in the list would have to be aged 21 or under at the time they released the song. Another suggestion that Sunshine Gal suggested to me which I really liked is favourite songs that never made the Hot 100. :)

avatar

Richard Stegman Jr.

1

Actually,Starboy(which has been parked at #2 for the last couple of weeks)looks like it might have a shot at reaching #1 next week since Closer's numbers are beginning to dwindle. Sure, they may stay at the top for a 13th week, but doesn't like it's going to break the record for most weeks at #1. So,Mariah and Boyz 2 Men are still safe with their 16 week run.

avatar

Piran

0

'Starboy' has even been #2 for the past 5 weeks on the Hot 100, but 'Closer' has had a huge lead over it for most of those weeks. The best chance The Weeknd has at getting to #1 now is when in the week after the AMAs (where he'll perform) as that's when he'll release his album.
For Monday though, 'Black Beatles' is probably going to get the #1 & yeah it look likes 'One Sweet Day's record won't be passed. :)
I love 'Closer', but it doesn't deserve to be the longest Hot 100 #1 of all-time.

J

Jstar

1

I will be around for December but probably not as much until January. It honestly doesn't matter to me when you do the list. I just have my picks ready for whenever. That sounds like a cool idea that she suggested.

I am getting ready to go downtown now. So maybe I will talk to you later on but most likely on the Weekend. Enjoy your night Piran.

avatar

Piran

1

Have a good day Jstar! It was nice chatting to you again. :)

avatar

Piran

0

Yeah 'Closer' will definitely not make it to 16 weeks at #1 on the Hot 100 now & will probably get replaced by 'Black Beatles' on Monday anyway.
'Starboy' has been blocked at #2 for the past 5 weeks; there's still a chance that it could go to #1 after his new album is released, but I'm very sure it won't happen next week.

avatar

Richard Stegman Jr.

1

We'll see on Monday when Billboard releases the info before publishing the charts on Tuesday. They'll make the #1 album announcement on Sunday.

avatar

Ebony

1

I'm surprised rockabye made it to number 1, I love the song but little mix fans really tried to keep shout out to my ex at number 1. Rockabye isn't charting in Australia yet but Anne-Marie has 3 top 20's so I think it will enter this week, it's in the top 20 on iTunes as is black Beatles.

avatar

Piran

0

Hey Ebony! I hope you've had a good week. :)
Yeah I didn't think 'Rockabye' could chart higher than 'Tears', but I definitely love the song (even though I would've preferred 'Shout Out To My Ex' to get a 4th week at #1).
Interestingly Anne-Marie has performed so much better in Australia than she has in the UK, so I'm curious to see how big 'Rockabye' will become on the ARIA charts.
Speaking of which, I think your charts are going to update in a few hours from now. So is Guy Sebastian going to replace James Arthur at #1 then?

avatar

Ebony

1

I'm not sure if guy Sebastian will go to number 1 he has no streaming presence but he's ruled iTunes for most of the week and radio is normally on his side so it will definitely debut top 5.

Anne-Marie's Australian success surprised me too but alarm peaked at 7, do it right peaked at 22 (so she only has 2 top 20s (I thought it got higher) and catch 22 with illy has peaked at 16. Rockabye debuted at 93 last week it turns out

avatar

Sunshine Gal

1

oh young man, just wanted to ask, how did the heat do against the bulls yesterday? ;) i totally forgot :D

J

Jstar

1

Hey Sunshine Gal. Hope you're doing well. The Bulls won. And I didn't care because a lot of us Heat fans were rooting for D-WADE anyway lol. So in a way I didn't care if the Heat lost this game. I was happy for my Boy who torched the Bulls all these years lol.

avatar

Sunshine Gal

1

took you long enough! :D just to wanted to be sure you knew and didn't forget ;). haha!! serves you right, all your disses to the bulls..see, karma :D and according to the standings, i believe the heat only have 2 wins :D sorry man! LOL! do you know if we're gonna play each other later in the season? well, my blackhawks are also doing great! 7 gm winning streak, the best in the nhl :)

and i'm def. improving on my walking and standing...still haven't been able to leave my apt. but my knee and left big toe are healing really good. around dec. 7th will be my 25th anniversary of when i became addicted to the hot 100 :D *the 1st week mj's 'black or white' was #1* so i'm def. gonna be back for that exciting celebration :D. but i should be back soon...so, just wanted to say hi and to make sure you didn't forget who won last night :). alright young man, i'll let you go for now, talk to you soon...have a good night!

J

Jstar

1

I believe we have 3 rings since 06. And the Bulls have zero. You guys haven't been to the finals since the 90s lol. I am not upset we only have 2 wins. We don't have Wade or Bosh. I would be shocked if we made the playoffs. But we own the Bulls since the 2000s lol. Go Heat!

Also who cares about hockey lol.

But in all seriousness. I'm glad to see you are doing better each day. Hopefully you will be able to be back commenting on billboard soon. I hope you have a goodnight.

avatar

Sunshine Gal

1

well, it's a new season and anything can happen...esp. with the cubs winning the world series i have a feeling my blackhawks will win the stanley cup (again :D) and the bulls will win the nba title. i'm def. ruling out the bears :D. oh in case you forgot :D, the heat are 2-5 and the bulls are 5-4. just wanted you to know :)

and yeah, i'll prob. be back within the next week or so...chatting with everyone just drains me out LOL! once i'm healthier, i'll be back to my chatty self, i guess when you're limping and then relax in front of a laptop, you get tired so easy. alright, i'm signing off, just wanted to be sure you didn't forget the standings for the heat and bulls :D good night!

avatar

Ebony

1

Somehow Guy Sebastian only moved to 21, I guess the radio didn't support it as much as I thought

avatar

Piran

0

Yeah I was expecting him to climb higher than #21, but it's definitely good to see: 'Black Beatles', 'Scars To Your Beautiful' & 'Rockabye' enter the Top 50 in your country. :)
Oh do you know why The Chainsmokers' 'Collage' EP debuted on the ARIA singles chart & not the albums chart?

avatar

Sunshine Gal

1

gee mate...where's the post to me? :D been waiting forever!

avatar

Piran

1

Haha I only just saw your conversation with Jstar from last night. Seriously though, I'm sorry I didn't post to you sooner. :/
Anyway I hope your day is going well & I'm pleased to hear that you're continuing to recover. What do you think of the UK charts this week? :)
Also Little Mix's new album is released in 6 days from now. Are you going to get it then? :D

oh good news about trump ;), he tech. won't officially be president until jan. for inauguration (forget how to spell it). he'll be sworn in as president @ that time, right now, he's just the president-elect. but...:) the supreme court and congress can still impeach him and i hope it works! don't know if you know michael moore, he's an american film maker who makes incredible documentaries (i'm a huge fan) is going out to various protests. here in az, it's mostly a republican state, so i don't think there's too many protests, plus i can't go outside for the time being.

so, you didn't answer my question: know of any single uk dudes that want an american wife? :D i don't know if i can take 4 yrs of trump...:/. hopefully something can happen and hillary will be pres. she tech. had more votes than he did.

i haven't looked @ the uk charts...lm still @ #1 on the singles chart?

mate i keep getting a pending about trump...? goodness! thank god i didn't cuss or nothing :D anyway, all i'm saying is that he's tech. not president yet. he'd still have to be sworn-in for the inauguration in jan. oh i just helped on this petition to abolish the electoral votes...i agree 1000% on that! that started during the days of george washington when america had like 6 states LOL! they need 350k signatures and they're around 341k...so, very good and quick results. ok, let's hope this post goes up ;)

avatar

Piran

1

Yeah I know a lot of people aren't happy about the electoral votes... so did more Americans actually vote for Hillary then? There was also a petition when the UK voted to leave the EU.
It's a shame that you have to stay inside for a little while yet, but everyone is always asking me about you over on Billboard, so they're all going to be very happy to see you back soon.
Oh have you heard 'Black Beatles' by Rae Sremmurd yet? Even Paul McCartney is a fan of the song & it is almost guaranteed to be #1 on the Hot 100 on Monday. :)

avatar

Sunshine Gal

1

yes, hillary got more votes from the individual voters than he did. he won on the electoral votes, and what that is, each state has a certain # on the electoral system, like california has like 40 electoral votes. so when you look @ a map of the u.s. highlighting the states that hillary and trump won over...it looks like he swept the u.s. (his states will be red, hers will be blue) but he won based on the # of electoral votes each state has. if you counted the votes by voters all thru the u.s., hillary won i think by a million more than him.

see, that doesn't make any sense. the electoral college/system started in the colonial days when the u.s. was just starting out and men on horses were gathering the votes ;). times have changed...and the protests are still going on as we speak.

ummm...i don't know who that artist is. and that's very sweet that all our friends keep thinking about me. i promise i'll be back soon. what are some upcoming lists we'll be doing? i'd still like to do another fave male, fave female artist and fave group list. meaning, the rule would be it can't be the same previous male, female and group list you did the last time :)

Well like I said earlier in the week, I hope America has a successful 4 years. I know Trump has said a lot of bad things, but it'll be interesting to see what he actually does.
This past Monday, we did favourite 'love' songs on the Hot 100 article, so that's our favourite songs with the word 'love' in their title. Regarding favourite: male, female & group lists, I definitely plan to do them at the start of next year. This is the current timetable I have planned:
11/14: Favourite Hot 100 Top 10s of 2016 so far
11/21: Favourite #1s of the 2010s so far
11/28: Favourite #1s of the 2000s
12/5: Favourite #1s of the 1990s
12/12: Favourite #1s of the 1980s
12/19: Favourite songs that didn't enter the Hot 100
12/26: Favourite Christmas songs
1/3: Favourite 21 & Under songs
I'll also be doing lists regarding the Year-End Hot 100 when it posts next month, but I expect the comments threads to be quiet throughout December. Meanwhile, Jstar is continuing his: #1, #2, #3, etc. peaking songs over on the BB200 articles. :)
Also if you're wondering what took me so long to respond, it's because I've had so much University work this week! I'm going home for a few days including next weekend because I need a bit of a break from studying, so I might not be on as much then. After that, I should be on for most days in November.

alright...def. i'll be back in another week or so...once my leg is much better and it's not a lot of effort to walk to the kitchen LOL! i'll be back, full force :)

well, let's see what happens over the next month...even some of the supreme court justices don't want him for president ;). and hillary wanted to do a debt-free college system like a lot of you in europe have...do you know how many college students work their ***** off @ starbucks and go to school? not only that, the ceo's of these colleges can make as much as the u.s. president...she wanted to abolish the profit factor like countries in europe does. now, trump wants to appoint his kids in certain gov't positions :/. meaning, they'd always vote to pass and veto any bills he wanted and being his kid doesn't make you qualified to hold public office.

yeah my internet resets on the 18th...been watching too much baseball :D and of course catching up on the u.s. politics..so now i have slower speed until next frid.

so, why did england vote to be out of europe?? i thought you all got along great LOL!

Didn't Hillary also want a free health care system in the US? I know the UK are the only country in the world to have this at the moment. I might even post final predictions for the Year-End Hot 100 on the BB200 article tomorrow, but the responses to my polls & lists have been decent over the past few weeks. :)
I think the main reason that the UK left the EU is that we gave too much money to the union (that could've been spent on more projects or businesses in my country) & that we didn't have much control over our borders.
I've also started a new type of post each week over on Billboard, but I'm going to keep that a surprise for now until you come back. I also did my usual review at the top of the page, so have you had a chance to read it yet?

Well there are basicly three types of 'albums'. You get singles, with one or to songs, EPs (extended play) with 3-5 songs and LPs, (long play) what most people call albums. Since the are only singles and LP charts EPs can chart on either of them, depending on the company. Hope I helped!

avatar

Sunshine Gal

2

well, france, canada, cuba and i believe norway has a free health care system too. so, you guys can go to the hospital and not pay a bill? i gotta go thru hoops and loops just to have the state pay my recent bills and we're still working on them >-<. when hillary was first lady in the early 90s, she tried to pass a free health care system, but the republicans fought her on it and the bill didn't get passed :(. she basically wants to abolish the profit-factor (gee...a trend here in america? :D) so that any american, even if you're homeless can get the right medical care @ no cost to you.

with trump, he's been a ceo his whole life practically...driven by profit. he's always tried to make as much money as possible and that's fine, but she's the exact opposite as far as her views go. nothing wrong with profit, but let's not let it get out of hand is what she's been saying. i've always loved and been huge fans of the clintons. bill clinton was my very first vote! and boy...did he turn the u.s. ecomony around and have it prosper! @ the time, i did wonder why the republicans went after him so much...now i get it, cuz he did something right ;). but we'll see...if there's enough signatures on that petition, the supreme court can take a look @ it and vote on whether he should be sworn in. you never know, they can easily reverse what's happened and award the presidency to hillary. esp. if that petition garners even larger numbers of signatures.

when bush first became president (al gore was his opponent, the guy who would later win the nobel peace prize :/) there was a major protest on inauguration day when bush was sworn in. and now, the protests are even more worse (in a good way) than that. so well see...the supreme court can't ignore the masses, so let's say 10mill. people sign that petition, they have to take that into consideration.

Piran

I never actually knew that EPs were eligible to chart on both the singles & albums chart (I always thought it was just the latter). That's certainly interesting though & thanks for the reply Jakob! :)

avatar

Piran

1

Yeah in the UK, you can get treatment at a hospital for free. I didn't know all of those other countries you mentioned could though.
I think Donald Trump hosted the US version of The Apprentice if I remember correctly & he'd always been in the business industry anyway (I think he's already a billionaire), but what concerns me a bit is that he has hardly any political experience. :/
Oh another list theme that I really want to do in the coming weeks is favourite songs by artists who came from talent shows. What do you think of that idea then?

J

Jstar

1

Who wants to talk about politics on billboard lol.

avatar

Sunshine Gal

1

yeah i think most of europe and i believe japan has some type of gov't run health care system. over here, the right have always spread this fear, back to the days of ronald reagan in the 50's & 60s * he was president in the early 80s but was a famous actor before* about how gov't run health care and other programs is nothing but evil socialism. the problem with that sentiment? ALL of our elected officials here in america, even down to city and country officials all get free health care :/

don't know if you know who gabrielle giffords is? she's an arizona elected official who was shot in the head @ a grocery here in tucson a couple yrs back. she's survived, but doesn't pay 1 penny towards her medical expenses. even today, any physical therapy she gets is 100% free...hillary wants to do the same for all of us :/. here in the u.s., if you don't have insurance, not only do you have a huge bill, they can just send you home or tell the family 'he didn't make it'. :(. but it goes to show how she survived with the best medical care...all paid for by the gov't. :(

and no, trump has no experience holding public office. he's done charity work, but even all that is under investigation :D. the clintons have their clinton foundation that has never had any issues, as far as i know.

that's a good idea for a future list...also, how about a fave grammy songs of the year list? and even nominations for song of the year that didn't win? ok mate, i'm gonna go ahead and let you go for now ;). gonna grab a quick bite and def. tell all our friends i said hi and that i miss them too...and after next week it'll be 4 wks since my accident, i should be much healthier by then...talk to you soon!

avatar

Piran

1

No I don't know who Gabrielle Giffords is, but I definitely do some more research about her. Regarding the list ideas you suggested, I'll probably wait until the 2017 Grammys so that it fits the theme well, so I hope you don't mind waiting 3 months. :) haha
Well I was actually planning to sign off anyway, but nice talking to you as always Sunshine Gal (don't forget to like my review though! :D LOL). Seriously though, I'm very pleased to hear about your progress & I'll chat to you again soon. ;)

avatar

Sunshine Gal

1

you're late, i was gonna sign off :D but i'll stay on for a lil' longer...don't tell me you're happy trump is president? :/ but i was explaining what the electoral system was and what some of the things hillary wanted to do as president.

J

Jstar

1

I can't be late if you didn't tell me you were on lol. I didn't care for either candidate. But it makes no sense that the majority of the country voted for Hillary but Trump was elected by the Electoral College. People may not aswell vote.

But what can you do. We have to accept come January 20th that Trump will be president.

avatar

Sunshine Gal

1

yeah her plight was a huge news story here in the u.s. my only problem is, other people died that day who prob. didn't have any health insurance or that the hospital had to try and bill their insurance and that took over the precedent of taking care of them. see with her, because she's an elected official, there's no question about payment. and most people who had the same injury as her, usually don't make it. she did, because she had the best medical care. so, why not the same for the rest of us?

i'll try and take a look @ your review, after the 18th my internet will be back up to high speed...right now, it takes forever to watch youtube and such. pls. don't feel bad if i can't get to it...ok mate, i'll catch ya later ;)

Ikr... I'm actually German but live in the uk. It's super annoying under18s couldn't vote because the decision affects us the most. Also it generated all this pointless court case stuff. I swear BoJo must be like the most hated personal in the uk.

avatar

Sunshine Gal

1

well, change . org is having a petition to abolish the electoral system. which i 1000% agree with...that's been done since the early days when america had 6 states. the idea and michael moore is getting involved, where to present the petition to the say, the supreme court...if they reverse the outcome, hillary can be president.

but being from new york, you really don't know all the public work she did as senator from new york? and no, i refuse to accept trump as president.

avatar

Sunshine Gal

0

sorry mate, i really don't know the political climate in the uk...who's bojo? well, over here, you'd have to be 18 to vote...what i'm upset about, as well as countless americans, is that a 200 yr old rule is what got trump the victory. but the more of the individual votes went to hillary. i voted for her, so of course i'm disappointed :D. but people like bill maher and michael moore are trying to get americans riled up (in a good way) and get that petition over to the supreme court. they can reverse the decision before jan. so we'll just have to wait and see what happens over the next month.

J

Jstar

1

I just don't pay attention to politics really. But I don't mean you have to be happy he is president lol. I just mean it is inevitable he will be the president come January. No petition will be able to overturn this election. Maybe the Electoral College will change in the future. But it won't affect Trump.

So I am sorry Sunshine Gal. But it is just the way it is in America. Don't let it get you down though. You still got us on billboard haha.

avatar

Sunshine Gal

1

well, i ain't giving up :D. anyway, i'm not surprised that a heat fan is :) why do you think i asked piran if he knows any single uk men who want an american wife? :D i don't want trump as president...he's gonna run our country in the toilet, just watch!

ok young man, i'm gonna get going...promise i'll be back on bb in another week. oh and my blackhawks lost last night! but it's all good, still have more games to play before post-season. catch ya later :p

I think it's only setting fires that debuted but they just credit it as the EP (royals was the love club Ep). Guy Sebastian had very little streaming (not in the top 50) and obviously little air play, it may still enter the top 20 but guy Sebastian has and older fan base and hasn't had a big hit since battle scars.

Yeah I just saw 'Set In Stone' at #136 on the weekly Australia Spotify charts.
So what are your predictions for next week's ARIA charts then? Is James Arthur going to get a 6th week atop the singles chart & does The Weeknd still have a chance at going to #1? :)

avatar

I Am A Stegosaurus

You like how Clean Bandit blend dance and classical music together? Me too, but there's none of that in Rockabye. A small string section at the beginning and end don't mean anything. You'd think I'd like their new song better because it's more mainstream dance, but no, it's just the 1,734,925th tropical house song of this year, and I cannot stand Anne-Marie

avatar

Piran

0

Yeah I remember you saying that you didn't like 'Rockabye' last week.
Oh I saw your reviews regarding positives & negatives (good idea by the way), but what are your thoughts on 'All Night' & 'Black Beatles'? :)

avatar

Piran

1

Hey Sunshine Gal! I hope everything is going fine with you today. :)
I don't know if you're still on, but I just wanted to give you an update that Bon Jovi will definitely get their 6th BB200 #1 tonight with 'This House Is Not For Sale' & that Rae Sremmurd & Gucci Mane are certainly going to get their 1st #1s on the Hot 100 tomorrow with 'Black Beatles', ending 'Closer's 12 consecutive weeks atop that chart. Also it looks like 'Rockabye' will probably get a 2nd week at #1 on the Official Charts over here next week. :D
Finally, 'Shout Out To My Ex' has now had 56,302,214 views, so that's equivalent to nearly the population of England! I look forward to your next response, but those were just some chart facts I thought I'd let you know. ;)

avatar

Sunshine Gal

1

hey mate!! shhh...i'm coming back 2day on the 200 article :). i miss chatting with everyone. thanks for being my messenger and that's great for lm. i wanna give a shout out to the chainsmokers for an incredible #1 run.

but mate, i've been all over bb...i found out some disturbing things about mike pence (trump's running mate and vice president-elect). over here, the election has focused mostly on trump, so i didn't know too much about. so do some research and find out he's gov. of indiana, where i lived. so i'm like 'cool!'

he passed a law in indiana making it a FELONY for any gay couple to apply for a marriage license. a felony is a serious crime! the punishment would be 18 mos. in prison and about $10k in fines! the county clerk would also be treated the same way and so would the clergyman who married the couple! also, he's said if him and trump win the white house, they'll reduce federal spending that help transgendered kids from being bullied in schools! can you believe that? that's not just ignorance, that's pure hate!

avatar

Piran

1

I'm so pleased to hear that you'll be back on Billboard later, but I won't tell anyone about that & you can surprise them. They are definitely going to be very happy to see you back. :)
Yeah 'Closer' is one of my favourite songs of 2016 & only 'Uptown Funk' has had longer at #1 this decade! You're welcome about me updating you each week though & thank you for being such a great friend to chat to. :D
Well that law sounds really bad, but I've seen some of your posts about it on various articles.
So have you heard the promotional singles from Little Mix's 'Glory Days' album to be released in 5 days? They all sound amazing, but 'Shout Out To My Ex' is still easily my favourite. ;)

avatar

Sunshine Gal

1

yeah i just can't believe the u.s. has someone like him as vice president. esp. with me, i believe all americans should be treated equally, no if's and's or but's. the more i found out about his views and the laws he's passed simply out of pure hatred and ignorance, well...i can't keep quiet about it :D.

and no sorry mate, i've been too engulfed with the election and the cubs' history world series win over here :D is lm still #1 on the uk singles chart?

avatar

Piran

1

No Little Mix's 'Shout Out To My Ex' got replaced at #1 by Clean Bandit's 'Rockabye' back on Friday. Regarding the latter act, they are a British classical-dance trio, who you might remember from 'Rather Be' (which reached the Hot 100's Top 10 in 2014).
However Little Mix did get 3 weeks at #1 with SOTME, which ties 'Black Magic' as their longest UK #1 single. I might've already asked you this, but what is your favourite Little Mix song? :)

avatar

Sunshine Gal

1

clean bandit...who are they? well, so far my fave song by little mix is stereo soldier. so, are they still on the hot 100? what's the view in the uk about the u.s. election results?

avatar

Piran

1

Clean Bandit are an electronic music group from the UK, but often blend classical music into their songs, although they are pretty much a one-hit wonder in the US at the moment.
My favourite Little Mix songs are probably: 'Shout Out To My Ex', 'Word Up' & 'Little Me'. The former is currently on it's 2nd week in the Hot 100 at #86.
Oh the UK are certainly not happy about the US election results & I'm sure there was even a petition once to ban Trump from my country.

avatar

Sunshine Gal

1

oh sorry mate, i was responding to some righties :D you know me and my debates LOL! i'm all for a civil discussion and really don't mind when someone doesn't like hillary and all...but this perception she's this evil monster is just ridiculous! disagree with her politics is one thing, but discounting all the public work she's done is another.

when was that petition? and yeah, i'm sure all over the world is very disappointed that hillary isn't the president...she worked hard negotiating treaties with just about everyone when she was sec. of state. i've always been a huge fan and admirer of the clintons...you know me, i don't care what goes on in someone's personal life, i've always been like that. so it just hurts what the results ended up being :D

any sign lm will climb up the hot 100 chart?

avatar

Piran

1

I think that the petition must have been quite a few months ago now & I've already seen the stories about a lot of female pop stars reacting to Trump's win (generally they didn't seem happy either!)
Well Little Mix are likely to climb up the charts in the week that their 'Glory Days' album is released, which would be next Friday, but a discount for SOTME or a live performance from the group in your country could also send Little Mix back up the Hot 100. :)
Oh considering you're now back on Billboard, tomorrow's list from me will be our favourite songs that entered the Hot 100's Top 10 in 2016.

avatar

Piran

1

Hey Sunshine! The BB200 article has posted, so I'll see you there. :)

avatar

Sunshine Gal

1

really! i never knew about that petition! :DDD!! how are gay rights in the uk? meaning, is there any backlash over the gay community over there? they can get married, etc. without going to jail? i take that so personally...i mean, you know i'm not gay :D but having lots of gay friends over the years, it'd break my heart if they went to prison for doing something that millions of other americans do every day and nobody giving a 2nd thought to it. you know me, 'there's room for everyone' ;)

well, the list would be top 10 debuts for 2016? ok, i'll have to brush up on the chart over the past month. oh my walking is getting better, still limping, but not as strenuous like it was 3 wks ago.

avatar

Sunshine Gal

Alright Piran, hope you're well, just wanted to ask is the midweek chart down? every time I click on it, it say's the chart is not available, is it just my phone or? Good review by the way, I am a big fan of "Rockabye", do you like it?

avatar

Piran

1

Hey Chartwatcher! I'm great thanks & I hope you are too. ;)
I'm pleased to hear that you like my review & yours was good as well. :D
No, I had the same problem as you when I tried to view it a few minutes ago. Regarding 'Rockabye', it's not my favourite Clean Bandit song, but I still really like it. Considering you're thoughts on 'Shout Out To My Ex', I bet you're even more happy that 'Rockabye' got to #1, right? :)

C

chartwatcher

1

Good good and thanks :), I see thanks for the clarification must be down then, I read the mid week chart reviewreview instead and was surprised by Nathan Sykes album coming in at only 14, he moved the release back a week I can only guess to dodge Robbie's recent topper, but has now put himself in line with tougher competition, was greatly glad about Olly Murs though, yeah lol was very happy, surprised how poorly SOTME performed in the US though I have to admit.

avatar

Piran

0

SOTME only peaked just below 'Black Magic' in the US, but there's a chance that it could re-enter after the album release. It looks like Nathan & Robbie will debut in the Top 40 on the singles chart next week though which is good & Olly might even enter with his new song as well. :)
Oh by the way, what are your thoughts on 'Black Beatles'? It could climb into the Top 10 next week & has just been announced as the new #1 on the US Hot 100.

avatar

Ebony

1

I think James Arthur will get at least 8 weeks considering how huge Thinking Out Loud was but the weeknd is leading streaming but sales aren't too great (6 on iTunes currently while James Arthur is 1, little mix is 2 and Calum Scott is 3). It did hit number one in NZ though

avatar

Piran

0

If I remember correctly, then that would mean that 'Say You Won't Let Go' could tie '7 Years' for the second-longest #1 hit of 2016 in Australia. I actually have family that live in New Zealand, so I regularly check their charts as well & it's great to hear that 'Starboy' made it to #1 there. :)
It also looks like 'Sexual' is doing good in your country's iTunes chart right now & hit the ARIA Top 10 this week. Where do you see that song peaking in Australia then?

avatar

Ebony

1

I think sexual with definitely go top 5 and maybe to 3? I can't see it reaching number 1 but if it gets a boost somewhere like being performed on X factor (though there's only 2 weeks left and most of the contestants are under 20 so I doubt they'll do that) or a discount it could reach number 1

avatar

Piran

0

That would be awesome if 'Sexual' did reach the Top 3 in Australia! It's a really fun & catchy song, so it's already one of my favourite dance hits of 2016 so far. :)
Oh what will the ARIA albums chart look like this Saturday then?

Oh yeah I found that problem as well

Now that you're here, what do you think of the UK charts then?

avatar

ProPanda

Much much better.

avatar

Piran

1

Yeah I completely agree with you to be honest. Now that 'Rockabye' is #1 in the UK, I'm hoping it can debut on the Hot 100 soon. I also don't understand why 'Dancing On My Own' hasn't been on the US chart yet either. Well I'm pleased that you like the UK Top 100 this week. :)

So happy to see "Rockabye" at the top spot, Ann Marie has a great Ellie Goulding style vocal, and is a good vocalist, I know their has been lot's of negative stuff said about it but I actually really like it, find it hypnotic, comforting and it has a great beat, anything has got to be more better than that garbage "Shout Out To My Ex" and I am utterly chuffed about Robbie's album too.

I Am A Stegosaurus

I am happy Little Mix are off number 1 but soon I will be DESPERATE to have Rockabye off the top spot
