Worst song in the top 40? I'd vote for Desiigner - Panda.
Bleh.
Probably the best pop song is Justin Timberlake - Can't Stop The Feeling. There's some cool dance remixes online.

The Spotify top ten is almost the same as the OCC SIngles top ten.

It's the Official Singles Chart Top 40/ 100 but hardly any singles are manufactured let alone bought! I feel rebranding the chart as
The Official Streaming Chart Top 100
would be the best way forward. BBC dropped Top of the Pops, Radio 1 moved the Top 40 from Sunday to Friday so things change. It's not a big deal to rename the chart given the fact streaming is the preferred method for listening to and buying new music. The simple truth is the current singles chart is not the same as the pre-streaming chart of 2014 so a change in name would make sense. People won't complain because they'll know the chart has changed. The word 'singles' would be dropped.
marcooni
The charts are so slow that a lot of good music is being overlooked. Everyone plays the same songs over and over, no problem with doing that, just don't let it count in a chart.
Apart from You tube I've never streamed a song and never will.

It's a bit of a feedback loop. If it's popular, they'll put it on the browse playlists for general listening, like "hot music", "summer sounds", "party jams", or whatever. However, outside of those, they seem to have mostly been courteous in keeping the playlists built around a mood or genre free of the popular stuff just because, so at least they're not crossing a line or anything.

E N O U G H is E N O U G H !!!! every week RIHANNA has a new single and DRAKE still no 1 ....So much promo from the music industry is getting boring ... I THING THAT CHARTS ARE FIXED NOWADAYS ...
Richard Goodyer
Years ago, the record company may have deleted Drake for his longevity, not so these days. Rap isn't my thing, but, someone must like it. The one drake i like is a Male DUCK.

To anyone reading this, please can you all stop streaming One Dance (and Too Good), because at this rate, we need a new number one. Justin Timberlake, Kungs, Dua Lipa, Adele or anyone that isn't f**king Drake deserve that spot next week. Also, I hope Sigma's Cry re-enters next week too.
There's only one positive thing I can give to the top 40 this week - it's Justin Bieber free! Am I the only one that realized that?
And top 10 best top 40 tracks this week for me:
1. Girls Like
2. This Girl
3. I Took a Pill in Ibiza
4. Don't Let Me Down
5. Give Me Your Love
6. Hotter Than
7. Send My Love (To Your New Lover)
8. Good Grief
9. Tears
10. Middle

Please people, anyone reading this, please don't stream One Dance at all (or Too Good) because we desperately need a new number one. Kungs, Justin Timberlake, Adele, Dua Lipa or anyone that isn't f**king Drake deserve it next week. So, please do it for the sake of others because it is seriously starting to get boring.
Piran
So here is my usual review on the UK charts today:
- Congratulations to Drake for a 12th consecutive week at #1 with 'One Dance'. I'll always give artists credit for their achievements... but I just wish that anyone can replace Drake at the top soon; I don't really care who it is. I think 'One Dance' is one of his best songs, though this has been at the top for way too long now & the comments section are with me on that. Also, 'Too Good' climbed into the Top 3 (at the rate things are going, I wouldn't be surprised if Drake replaces himself at #1!)
- In other news, probably the best of the week, Adele has both singles & albums chart success. 'Send My Love' gives her a 3rd Top 10 from '25' & the collection itself returned to #1 for a 13th week in total, including a 231% sales surge, following her Glastonbury headline performance. Great to see Coldplay take bounds back up the chart for the same reason. :)
- In terms of new entries, there were 4 in the Top 100 & 1 of them in the Top 40. Only one new song in the Top 10 today as well, so this week was a very boring one for the UK charts overall. I really like Drake, but 'One Dance' is not the song to reach Bryan Adams' record (he is 4 weeks away from matching that).

What site do you do reviews for
Piran
Well I do them here & for the Billboard charts in the US (so the Hot 100 & BB200). I try to get them done every week. :)

Paul Simmons
I found it quite fun that MO (the Danish electropop act) and M O (the English R&B group) both had new entries this week.
Painmix King
Is that true, i did notice that there was a space between M and O on 1 entry but just asumed it was a misprint. Quiet extraordinary
PS
Paul Simmons
Yeah, technically 'Final Song' is by MØ (assuming the Danish character displays correctly when I type it, while 'Who Do You Think Of' is by M.O (pronounced M point O). For some reason the official charts have that down as MO and M O (one wthout the Danish character and one without the point).
PS
Paul Simmons
Synthesiza - Christine & The Queens is a French synthpop artist. She entered the singles chart mainly because of her Glastonbury set on Friday, which at least some of the newspaper reviews said was the best set on the Friday. Her album went top 10 last week too. I quite like her - she's a bit different to most of the other stuff that's out there. And Viola Beach came back in the chart because Coldplay did a tribute to them at Glastonbury, which I guess just raised their profile again.
I Am A Stegosaurus
Oh right. Should have known it was the whole Glastonbury thing. BTW can you use the reply button in the future so I am actually notified? Thanks.

Paul Simmons
Yeah, sorry - first time I've posted, and I figured that out immediately after I sent the message.

Drake: No.1-streams No.9-sales No.9-downloads Kungs: No.4-streams No.1-sales No.1-downloads Kungs is clearly doing better this week. He should be no.1 but since streaming is sooo important Kungs will never reach no.1
I Am A Stegosaurus
Exactly. This guy knows.
R
RIME
Streaming is important though; it's how music is actually being consumed more so now and is generating significant revenue for labels. Besides, it was close: One Dance is only doing a little better than This Girl, I think; the tide just might turn next week; the latter is no slouch in streaming and if its sales keep consistent it just might get a crown.
marcooni
Remember the good old days when you were lucky if the record shop hadn't sold out of the top ten singles.

T
TAYLOR
Charts everywhere are getting slower and slower because most music , things will never be like the 80's and 90's
R
RIME
Yeah, nothing like when Bryan Adams led the chart for 18 weeks... I think you're forgetting that the UK chart got far more volatile in the 00's than it was before.
PS
Paul Simmons
Yeah, I agree with RIME - in the 80s songs would come in to the bottom end of the top 75 and then gradually climb as they got exposure on Top Of The Pops, picked up radio play, etc. In the 90s and even more so in the early part of this century it became more about first week sales and getting the highest chart position for your artist and less about overall sales, so an awful lot of songs reached their highest chart position in their first week. I actually feel like we're back towards where we were in the 80s again now, except that, as you say, the chart is a bit slower, so there are fewer new entries, even in the top 100 now than there were in the 1980s. I prefer the songs entering low and slowly climbing to the top, but I would prefer a slightly higher turnover of songs as it does get a bit boring. Maybe they should just tweak the number of streams that equates to one sale to speed it up a bit, because at the end of the day that was really just an artbitrary figure anyway.
R
RIME
Yeah, I'm primarily a Hot 100 follower, and something just feels cool about a song that starts modestly and builds momentum over time. The 00's UK, current Japan, and even the chart I run (Trot 100, though no one probably cares here) sometimes frustrate me when it becomes all about the debut peaks. It starts feeling more like a factory line than a...forest? Viral lab? Can't think of a good metaphor for the Hot 100. :P
PS
Paul Simmons
I have to admit that I don't follow chart positions nearly as much as I used to, for exactly that reason. I now mostly look up the singles charts and album charts just to listen to all of the new entries each week to decide what music to buy. So a week like this, with only 4 new entries in the top 100 singles and only 6 new albums (and even those are 4 by old artists (Jon Anderson from Yes, Steve Hackett from Genesis, and Neil Young (Buffalo Springfield, CSNY), plus DJ Shadow, who was at least at his peak in the 1990s rather than the 1970s) and 1 choir and 1 TV soundtrack, so it's a really poor week for new music. Nowadays I check the US new release albums list from Allmusic.com too, just to boost the amount of new music I find each week because there's sometimes so little coming into the chart.
Dave Harler
18? It was 'only' 16. Wet Wet Wet almost beat that record but only managed 15 weeks a few years later, but that was only because Marti Pellow kicked up a fuss and demanded that the song be deleted so he could concentrate on releasing other songs! ("Throwing toys out of the pram" case!)

Painmix King
Drake is at No.9 in the sales only chart, while Viola Beach are No. 14 in the sales chart while only @ No.50 in the Official Chart. come on official charts company get something done about this it's farcical
I Am A Stegosaurus
Wait, why have Viola Beach got an entry?
Painmix King
Coldplay at Glastonbury. They showed Viola Beach on the screen behind them and then when the song got going Vhris Martin took over the singing of the song
I Am A Stegosaurus
Oh right.
Painmix King
How long can this farce that they call The Official Chart continue. 9 of the Top 10 are the same tunes as last week. Only 1 new entry in the Top 75, and only 4 New Entries in the entire Top 100. The sales chart isn't a lot better but is a bit more active
I Am A Stegosaurus
Give Me Your Love falling to 17? Pisstake!
I Am A Stegosaurus
Too Good at 3? If it was down to THAT to take off One Dance than that would solve 50% of the problem. And who TF are Christine & The Queens?
Dan Love
Correction - Who {<is>} Christine & The Queens?
Mark Willmott
The trouble is Drake has an average 5m streams per week so that is 50k sales to begin with. Means it's very difficult to topple him. I don't agree that the record is classed as being one of the most successful records ever including older songs from years ago that were based on sales only. If it was based on sales it would have only been number one for 4 or 5 weeks.
I Am A Stegosaurus
Less than that in fact actually
Dan Love
2016 Christmas Number One = Drake - One Dance

Is it possible that One Dance might, just might, beat Bryan Adams as the longest No.1 ever!? I hope not. :S
I.B.
That could be the case. It's the return of these long running chart toppers once more. I mean look at Happy by Pharrell Williams, that spent 22 weeks at no.1 on the French charts!
SH
Scott Harris
Looks like Kungs won't be getting that number 1 position after all. I mean, three weeks, three chances and he failed every single time.
Painmix King
Look at the Sales Chart (the real chart) you'll find they've been No.1 for at least the last 2 weeks
SH
Scott Harris
Sadly that's not the case for streaming which is now part of the overall UK chart. Kungs could have been number 1 two weeks ago if they didn't count streaming.
I.B.
It's 5000000 AD and Drake still has the official number one my alien friends!

Me too deserves a better place!!!!
And One Dance doesn't deserve being 1... I don't understand how it can be for too many weeks in this position! Incredible... I don't understand anything...

Hype coming in at number 34 oh dear, how embarrassing and disappointing for Dizzee Rascal, especially the fact the song was made about boasting about hyping an audience but it might rise though
R
RIME
At least it made it to the top 40. I bet NOW will have it on the next CD.
Painmix King
No.13 in the real chart i.e. The Sales Chart
C
chartwatcher
This is the real chart but I agree should be sales only, there should be a separate streaming chart, someone should make a petition, and yeah will be on Dizzee's new album maybe Calvin's, and yeah top 40 looking at it half a glass full, but realistically it has come way to low for a lead single, I think had it been released under Calvin's label and credited Calvin Harris feat Dizzee Rascal could of been top five easily, it had no promotional video either, I think he has to accept he is on his way out like Example, Dizzee's last album barely made number ten and the single's underperformed, mostly because Tinie Tempah bettered him, in success anyway they are both talented men
Painmix King
That's exactly what my post means. Just swap the priority round. Make the sales chart the one that gets the rundown on radio, and the chart including streaming can be n the background if people want to look at it
