First visit to the OCC site in months, what a joke the chart has become, it’s lost all credibility. Just stop compiling now because this is a waste of web space.

The more the week goes on, the less I'm surprised to see 'Take Me Back To London' at #1, especially with the longevity of the remixes.

So glad to see 'Cruel Summer' set to be Taylor's third simultaneous Top 40 song. If it stays that way, she'll be getting a 10/10 from me for a second consecutive week! :)

Personally I dont think a remix should be able to be classed as the same track, it's just another money spinner for the record label and already successful artists to milk the same song for more money. Should a better remix come out then it should be classed as an individual track, such as when djs have remixed tracks making them mega hits. Also like back in the day an album track could be released as a single and be a different/remixed version.
It seems to be getting more sad everytime I look at the charts when before it would fill me with excitement. :(
Pleased to see Taylor having some success on the albums and singles front though Piran :)

I do agree that a remix should be considered seperate from the base track, but it's always been like this and tracks fed off of it as far back as the 90s, reaching number one just because of a successful remix and nothing to do with the base track. Macarena and Brimful of Asha especially come to mind.

This is the issue that happened with 'Old Town Road' recently, which essentially allowed it to break the record for most weeks at #1 in the US. I agree that it seems a cheap marketing tactic to improve a song's longevity, but the problem is that separating multiple versions of the same song would make the charts even less representative of what was the most popular song of the week.

Yeah, the charts do remain fairly boring even with the latest rule changes, but at least we had a #1 that surprised a lot of people this week & Taylor Swift having the #1 album along with three singles inside the Top 30 is amazing news too! :)

885,349 for Taylor is what Hits Daily Double is predicting. And that's awesome!

I actually saw that on Headline Planet a few moments ago! Apparently, just over 700k of these were pure sales.

If you think her week on the BB200 was impressive, wait until you see next week's Hot 100! ;)

When the Macarena remix was released the original version was still charting in the lower end of the top 100 so was classed as 2 seperate releases. It's not like either of those or many others were not already receiving much success at the time so a remix to get the song in the public eye was a great move but a song which is already in the top 10 shouldnt need a remix to give it an extra push, it's been successful already. Just crazy really, am sure things will change many more times until it's right
