So happy to see 'No Tears Left To Cry' re-peak! :)
I'm so surprised that Arctic Monkeys are doing so well in the singles chart update & it's a shame to see Eurovision not have very much of an impact. If it did, I wonder if the OCC would've still kept it to a maximum of three songs.
Oh, I like seeing 'Flames' enter the Top 10 too!
candog75
All the Eurovision songs could chart - as there are no rules against that. It’s just that nowadays none of them would get enough streams. With the possible exception of SuRie - but even then I’ll be amazed if that clings on to a Top 40 spot.
Piran
Ah okay, thanks.
I just wondered because they limited all albums to three songs (even 'The Greatest Showman') & I wasn't sure since Eurovision 2018 has it's own album too.
Yeah, I don't see 'Storm' making the Top 40 by Friday either & I think 'Toy', which even won, will barely be inside the Top 75.
candog75
Yep it’s because OST albums are eligible for the main album tracks & therefore the OCC bizarrely treat this as 1 artist limiting The Greatest Showman to the 3 track rule. The Eurovision album gets classified as a Compilation album which get their own charts.
Also out of curiosity what do you think of the Artic Monkey’s album?
Piran
Ah, fair enough.
I haven't actually heard Arctic Monkey's new album yet, but I see that it's on course to become their sixth #1 on the albums chart, but I will say that I really liked their last one.
Have you checked out their latest album yet?
candog75
Yeah well I really like it - but I imagine it’s not going to be everyone’s cup of tea & people expecting to hear old school AM bangers are going to be sorely disappointed
Rob Parkinson
It's a crazy ruling meaning nobody else will get to match or beat ed sheeran's record of his whole album in the top 20. The ruling should have been only official single releases can chart rather than album tracks at all, am sure artists would quickly realise which tracks to release.
Buzzing flames and in my blood hitting top 10, was worried about in my blood as seems a top track but then just seem to disappear downwards in chart but hey it's getting up there now.
Piran
Yeah, a rule like that could work well, as that keeps the idea of a "singles" chart, which is what was the whole intentions of the charts in the first place. I think three songs at most is way too few songs for an artist to have on the chart though if they deserve more.
I'm also happy that 'Flames' & 'In My Blood' got into the Top 10, as well as 'This Is America'! :)
