I'm both surprised and pleased by this, with Take That and Kygo looking like they'll enter high and Anne Marie climbing. Looks like we'll get a reasonable chart this week.

I'm quite confused by this, Selena & Kygo are at #7 on iTunes but #10 here while Take That are at #26 on iTunes, but #5 on the midweek chart? I feel like the midweek is calculated differently to the actual chart, I'm just not sure how.

well we look set for a VERY exciting chart on Friday! its great to see 3 new entries in the top 10 that hasn't happened in a while, but may I just say that Giants will fall from #4 definitely as its currently falling very quickly, not in the top 10, and is still nowhere to be seen in the upper reaches of the Spotify charts. I wouldn't be surprised if it fell to below 20 unless it has an iTunes revival. But seeing a top 10 debut from Kygo & Selena Gomez which they may well keep come Friday is great, as is Maroon 5 debuting in the top 40 and Anne-Marie climbing. :) I haven't heard Galantis' new song yet, but I love all their other songs like No Money and Runaway (U&I), so I probably will like it. I hope they debut in the top 40 on Friday! and the debuts further down are great too! the one which is most notable to me is Love Incredible, which I'm glad looks as it might go straight into the top 100 at 92! however, its fallen out of the iTunes top 100 and is yet to chart on the Spotify top 200, so it may well fall out of the top 100 by Friday especially as it is as low as it is. I really really hope it does hit the charts as it is an amazing song! also, in the last couple of days rumour has it that a music video has been shot for Camila's next single, Hey Mama with Pitbull and J Balvin. From the clip ive seen, it sounds great! It's meant to be on the soundtrack to the eigth Fast and Furious, out in April! its great that Camila has so much new music coming out soon! Heres the link to the website I saw the clip on: (its the second one with a clip of the video too) hope you like it! tell me what you think!

Pleased to see Ed with possibly three songs in the Top 5 for Friday! I'm also happy that Take That, as well as Kygo & Selena Gomez, could get Top 10 debuts too. :)

Hey Piran! I wonder whether that'd be a record for Ed in the Singles Chart ... ;) or whether there has there been something similar to when The Beatles had all the songs in the Top 5 in the the Hot 100.

Not quite, because two other artists have also done it before; John Lennon in 1981 & Justin Bieber in 2015. The latter of these acts is the only one of all-time to occupy the entire Top 3 spots in the same week! :)

Thanks! Another thing that HDD pointed out that should be considered is what effect the Brit Awards might have on the charts. Granted, that's mostly a day plus of boost that some artists would be getting. Have you noticed whether it has a significant impact on the charts sfollowing the Awards, or whether it ends up being more noticeable for the charts of the week after? Thanks for letting me know what you observed in past years. ;)

It would probably be more noticeable in the week after the BRITs. :)
If you look at the Wikipedia pages for each Brit Awards over the past few years, then you can see the singles & albums chart reactions to some of the performers & winners. :D
So looking at last year for example...
Notable Singles Chart movements: 'Hymn For The Weekend' by Coldplay (17-10), 'Hold Back The River' by James Bay (91-56), 'Black Magic' by Little Mix (70-60) & 'When We Were Young' by Adele (23-13).
Notable Albums Chart movements: 'Chaos & The Calm' by James Bay (17-7), '21' (33-26) & '19' (68-55).
There seemed to be an even bigger effect on the charts for the previous year though! ;)

Thanks for the info! So, who do you think will win and who would you actually like to win those categories? I just realized there are only 10 categories compared to the gazillion ones in the Grammys. ;)
