Hey Piran! I like that 'Body' is your favourite song on this list, but I am a bit surprised that there wasn't a single 10/10 song on there for you. I had 11 10/10 songs in my re-ordering, 5 of which were 100/100. I does seem like I liked the hit music this year quite a bit more than you in general, though. While you only had 7 9/10 songs, I had 14 on top of my 11 10/10 songs. Also, 'Psycho' was at a pretty similar position in both our charts (#23 for you and #21 for me, interestingly #22 in the actual chart), but for you it was a strong 7/10 while for me it was a solid 9/10. 'Never Be The Same' was also at #20 on both our charts, yet you gave it a weak 8/10 and I gave it a solid 9/10.
The biggest differences in our charts, not including 'The Greatest Showman' tracks, have to come from 'Shallow' and 'rockstar'. For you, 'Shallow' was up at #2 with a strong 9/10, while for me it was way down at #94 with a 30/100. 'rockstar' was almost the exact opposite, being way down at #94 for you with a weak 5/10, and way up at #4 for me with a perfect 100/100.
As for 'The Greatest Showman' tracks, there was a pretty big difference. For me, all 8 tracks fell into the bottom 10, with ratings between 42/100 and 10/100, while your lowest was at #61 with a strong 6/10 and your highest was at #12 with a strong 8/10.
Overall though, I do really like this re-ordering! I do really like that the 2 Mabel & Not3s tracks are right next to each other at #46 and #47 (they were fairly close on mine at #12 and #18), and I love that 'Mr. Brightside' makes your Top 10 (it only made #57 in mine due to how many great tracks there were in this chart, in my opinion, but it still got a 72/100 from me). I was surprised to see 'Girls Like You' down at #89 with a 5/10 though. It even got higher on mine with a 60/100 at #84, and it never even charted on my personal charts. Didn't it spend quite a while on your charts and peak fairly high?

Hey Gameskiller! Thanks for checking this out. :)
Yeah, the last 10/10 song for me was probably 'Castle On The Hill', but it's rating has dropped for 2018 since the song has been out for a while now, which is the same reason why 'Mr Brightside' was a lot lower down in your ranking. For a song to get a perfect score for me, there has to be no faults with the song whatsoever & I believe we didn't have a song that was on this year's chart that wasn't on last year's that achieved that. I noticed that your overall score is about 6% higher than mine. As you mentioned, I was a lot more interested in 'The Greatest Showman' tracks, while it appears you enjoyed both the American & especially the British hip-hop & rap more than I did, although that's not really a surprise given how our Crown Note charts have been looking over the past few months.
I actually started this re-ordering considering the best performing songs first, then went down the list to fill the other positions, so it was a really cool coincidence that Not3s & Mabel tracks were right next to each other!
Regarding 'Girls Like You', my personal chart combine both how much I like a song & the number of listens it gets. Because I listen to Radio 1 & Capital lots, as well as YouTube playlists from ChartExpress & Billboard, 'Girls Like You' was just inescapable, so despite it getting a lot of plays from me for that reason, I never really cared for it outside of maybe the Cardi B verse all that much.

The last 100/100 song to be released for me was 'Expectations' by Lauren Jauregui, which spent 6 weeks at #1 on my charts, but the last 100/100 song to chart in the UK Top 40 for me was 'God is a woman'. I highly doubt that 'God is a woman' will ever be leaving the 100/100 range, and definitely not the 10/10 range, given that it's now my 2nd favourite song of all time and is on its 24th consecutive week in the Top 5 on my charts, and it's set to get a 10th week at #1 next week! I'm probably a bit more lenient when it comes to giving out 10/10s than you, since I usually rate songs out of 100 so the 100/100s are saved for the absolute best songs, while everywhere from 95/100 - 99/100 are given out to other really great songs.
Yeah, I'm usually a lot more interested in hip-hop songs than you, and that really shows in our re-orderings. It also shows that I really wasn't interested in 'The Greatest Showman' like you were, but I've said since I first heard it that I wasn't a fan and you've always been quite a big fan so that wasn't really a surprise.
That makes sense for 'Girls Like You'. My personal charts are exclusively down to how much I like a song, which usually correlates pretty strongly to how many listens it gets, so the amount of times I heard 'Girls Like You' didn't make it enter my charts. I also seem to listen to the radio a lot less than you and my own personal Spotify playlists a lot more, so even though 'Girls Like You' was still kind of inescapable, I probably heard it significantly less than you.

I'll post my full Top 100 re-ordering like Gameskiller did tonight or over the weekend, but here are some of my opinions on the year as a whole for now...

- I'm reasonably pleased with 'One Kiss' being the biggest song of the year, but the fact that it took that position within the final few days of 2018 was such a surprise! It's an addictive, laid-back song that was undoubtedly going to become everyone's summer anthem, although it doesn't have the same star quality as other recent End Of Year #1s have had.

- The best song on this list (that didn't appear in the 2017 one) is 'Body'. The weird thing is, I also get why people might not take to it. However, coming from an EDM fan, when the groove is so catchy, the drop brings so much hype & the vibrant instrumentation takes over the verses, I was thrilled when it crossed over to the UK charts! This is also one of those hits where the autotuned vocals & slightly flirtatious lyrics (without sounding too desperate) aren't a problem, but the whole idea is that this is meant to fit into a club scene. While probably nobody else will agree, definitely a very fun smash to remember, for all the right reasons!

- The worst song on this list (that didn't appear in the 2017 one) is 'Jumanji'. 2018 as a whole was actually a successful year for British urban music, setting lots of new chart records along the way. That said, while I'd give many songs in this lane a pass, 'Jumanji' lands far below that level sadly. The biggest issue that stands out like a sore thumb is B Young's terrible whining the hook & easily the worst vocal delivery I've heard in months. The flow is completely inconsistent in the verses, losing any interesting rhythm that this song was trying to obtain & if you thought the content would save this, well no, it's clear that B Young obviously doesn't have a lot of respect for this girl he's interested in either. I'd say the best thing about this, if anything, is the tropical beat, but that's been so overused in the mainstream as of late that even that's mediocre at best. I know, I've ranted about this long enough, but when the song is this insufferable, it has to be said.

- While 'Camila' was my favourite album of 2018, 'The Greatest Showman' was actually a close second! As I'm sure a lot of you know by now, I loved every track on it, but I think each one makes more sense contextually if you've seen this film & by the way, if you haven't, check it out, it's awesome! Still... 24 weeks at #1? Even I think that's a little too much & while seeing soundtracks break the albums chart this year was pleasant, it did make the albums chart also very boring to follow this year too.

- The only other thing I can say for now is that the #1 song overall this year ('One Kiss') was not dominant overall on streaming ('God's Plan'), on sales ('This Is Me') nor YouTube ('Girls Like You'). Although, it was unquestionably the biggest radio hit of 2018!

- Let's hope 2019 is even better for the charts! :)

Hey Piran! I quite like seeing 'One Kiss' at #1 as well, though I definitely thought it would be 'God's Plan'. It's insane how small the gap was! I do prefer 'God's Plan' overall, but 'One Kiss' is still a really great song and deserving of the top spot.
Obviously my favourite song on the list is 'God is a woman', which I'm sure came as no surprise to you given that it's my longest running #1 ever and my most streamed track ever, while my least favourite track is 'I Love It'. My opinion on it has slightly improved since I first heard it, but not enough to get it out of the 0/10 range.
I love that 'Camila' was your favourite album of 2018, but it actually had to settle for 2nd place for me. 'beerbongs & bentleys' beat it to the top spot, and it is actually my favourite album of all time, let alone 2018! 'Camila' is still definitely a 10/10 album for me, and is still my 3rd favourite album of all time. I agree that 25 weeks at #1 is excessive for 'The Greatest Showman'... but then again, 'beerbongs & bentleys' has spent 22 weeks at #1 on my personal charts so I can't really talk haha!

Wasn't the gap only like 7,000 combined sales? In which case, it was probably the final or penultimate weekly chart of 2018 that caused the shift!
I liked 'God Is A Woman' as you probably know, but I still had 'No Tears Left To Cry' on repeat at the time as both my ranking of the UK Chart Of 2018 & my own chart shows you.
'I Love It' was actually my second least favourite song to make this list, although I gave it a 3/10 due to a sense of groove in the hook. I get why it's big at parties, but everything else about the song is a shambles, haha.
I would say that 'Camila' is a strong 9/10 for me. I still think tracks like 'All These Years' & 'She Loves Control' are good, but they don't have any moments of greatness like all the other tracks too. It'll actually be one year since that album came out by next weekend!

Yeah, the gap was crazy small. If 'One Kiss' had been released just 2 weeks later or 'God's Plan' had been released 2 weeks earlier it probably would've been a different result!
It's weird to think that it'll be a full year since 'Camila' came out next week. It doesn't even seem like that long ago. It does mean that 'She Loves Control' will almost definitely become just the 3rd song to manage a full 52 weeks on my chart, though, unless it unexpectedly gets pushed out before the end of the week.

TOTAL SCORE: 7,185/10,000 (71.85%)

Overall, this was a very good year for hit music, in my opinion. 5 100/100 songs just on this chart (and 11 10/10 songs), with a huge amount more tracks getting high scores. I mean, 89 tracks got half score or more, while only 11 tracks fell under half score, and 76 tracks fell into the 7/10 or higher range; 7/10 is what I would consider a "good" track. 6/10 is "decent", 5/10 is "acceptable", and lower is where I actually start to dislike the tracks. Meaning there were only actually 10 songs that I disliked on this chart!

'The Greatest Showman' tracks did bring down the score quite a bit, but not enough to stop it from getting a pretty high score. It was also to be expected, since 'The Greatest Showman' has been incredibly successful this year, and I've never really liked it at all to begin with. The amount of exposure it got probably made me dislike it a bit more, as well (similar to what happened with 'Perfect' and why it's only at #83 on this chart). Overall though, really great year for hit music!

Hey Gameskiller! :)
I'll comment properly on this later, but it seems like we agree on most songs except 'The Greatest Showman' tracks.

Ariana Grande spends 6 weeks at number 1 yet barely makes the top 70.

What a farce...

Maybe she'll be higher in next year's chart.

Its because thank u, next came out towards the end of the year. Songs that come out towards the end of the year often aren't that high.

true. though in 2012 james arthur reached #5 in the year-end chart with impossible, even if that was only released sometime in november/december as the winner's single of that year's x factor (keep in kind that it happened during the digital download era though.)

Wow, that is impressive but like you said, the fact that that was during the digital download era probably helped.
